I’ve tried this formula in a lot of shades. I think my favorites are Weekend and Friendship but there is something for everyone. It’s a moisturizing formula that doesn’t crack or dry out your lips. When you rub your lips together it doesn’t feel weird or overly dry. It looks really nice in. It lasts all day unless I eat something greasy. The reason this is 4 instead of 5 lippies is twofold. First, it transfers. It’s probably the trade off of having a liquid lip feel ok on your lips, but it doesn’t dry down all the way. It’s also why you can rub your lips together and the glide. But it’s not terrible, it doesn’t bleed and it transfers to my chin when I eat less then a regular lipstick so it’s not necessarily a bad thing. The other reason for my score is that it the product leaks oil. If you lay this in it’s side you will have an oily mess. Do not leave this in your purse or it will ruin your lining. Oil leaks out the top. It still smells good and performs the same so it’s not going bad. It’s just separating. So for that reason I will not repurchase. It’s too finicky to store.

Let me start with saying how much I hate liquid matte lipsticks. I don’t like how they set and feel all dry on my lips. It’s a personal thing. I don’t mind matte lipsticks, however, so long as they don’t smell like dryer sheets or have a weird minty or fake fruit flavor thing going on.
I’d heard good things about these BareMinerals matte lipsticks, and when Sephora had a half-off sale, I thought I’d give one a go.
I picked Swag, described as a blushing mauve. It’s a tiny bit lighter than I expected, but it does look pretty natural on my lips, just making them appear a tiny bit more pink. Very MLBB.
As for the formula, I quite like it. It glides on (with a doe-foot applicator) like velvet, and sets, but not completely. There’s a tiny bit of moisture that lingers, but it’s not sticky or goopy. It’s not moisturizing, but it’s not drying either.
It looks matte, but not painfully dry. There’s a chocolate scent to this, which I kind of like. (For some reason a lippie that smells like chocolate doesn’t bother me.) There’s no flavor, and it feels comfy on the lips. It lasts a decent time, too. It’s not going to wear like iron while eating pizza or a burger, but it has a bit of hold for sipping coffee, etc. It’s not something that I would call set it and forget it, but I could safely putter around with this on without fearing it’ll slip off in 15 minutes.
I think for $19 it’s a bit steep, but for a liquid matte formula it’s pretty damn good. One lippie off for the steeper price and that it’s not moisturizing. I may even pick up another one in a different shade, but only if they’re still on sale.

Not impressed with this liquid lipstick. First, the positive – no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petrolatum, gluten, or cruelty. It smells faintly of vanilla, which dissipates after it dries down. The doe-foot applicator makes application easy. I also appreciate that bareMinerals is trying to balance long wear and moisturizing. The formula doesn’t dry completely and therefore doesn’t dry out my lips like some liquid lipsticks. But it also wears off within a few hours and needs to be fully removed before reapplying. For the price (almost $20), and the extra effort to reapply, I’d prefer to use lip gloss. Finally, I tried the color Boss, which is a dirty pink-beige. It looked brighter in the tube than on my lips. The color was dull and too close to my skin color and therefore did nothing for me.

I have this in the shade “Swag” – cringe-y name, but a beautiful, rosy MLBB shade. I’m starting to reach a point where I can’t be bothered with the dead matte liquid lipsticks that completely zap all the moisture out of my lips. This is a great middle ground. It still dries down looking almost completely matte, but it’s not 100% transfer proof. However, my lips stay looking plump, the formula doesn’t exaggerate the lines of my lips, and since it doesn’t dry stiff, it also won’t flake. It’s a very lightweight, almost mousse-like texture. The description says the formula is “primer infused”, but I couldn’t say if that actually makes much of a difference. It feels similar to Ciaté’s Liquid Velvet lipsticks on the lips, and applies similarly, though a litter thinner. It’s not crazy pigmented, but I personally can get away with a single layer. Perhaps if the shade wasn’t as close to my normal lip colour I would need two. Now it does wear off a little quicker than most liquid lipsticks (even those that have a similar feel), but on the other hand it reapplies beautifully. I can definitely see myself repurchasing another shade in the future.
+ Cruelty free (though parent company, Shiseido, isn’t)
+ Non-drying and very comfortable to wear
+ Lips stays looking plump
+ Simple, stylish packaging
+ The flat doe foot applicator is easy to use, despite being quite large
– With 20 shades, I feel like they could’ve done with a little wider colour range. A lot of shades a very light and many are pretty similar.
– Despite the quite big packaging, it only contains 4ml of product, which makes it pretty pricey. At least for me: while it’s $18 on their US website, it’s around $36 here in Sweden!

Love, love, love this!! Matte lip color has always been a challenge for me. I find it so drying (and I’ve tried lots of high-end brands). But this is so creamy and moisturizing, yet it’s truly matte. The shades are gorgeous, too. I’m somewhat fair skinned, and I found several of the “darker” colors in this collection look great on me. These are a huge win in my book!!

This is a very soft, creamy, non-drying liquid matte lipstick. It isn’t the transfer-proof, super-drydown kind, but it still lasts well and looks great on the lips. It has a slight vanilla frosting kind of scent, which I don’t find offensive, and the color selection is great for every day kind of looks.

awesome liquid lipstick. Not hydrating.. I doubt it’ll be good for winter time though. But if youre interested in liquid lipstick for the color payoff and non-smudging, buy this!

I got a deluxe sample size of this in the shade Swag in my Sephora Play box this month and I LOVE it! It is quite possibly the most perfect MLBB shade I’ve ever tried. I will definitely be purchasing the full size of this at Ulta.

Got this in the color Swag “blushing mauve”. This is just a tad darker then my lip color, so a great “nude” lippie for me. First the formula is amazing. Mousse like texture that applies very easily. Wear time is great. Not as long as KVD liquid lippies, but last up to lunch time without any issue. Also not a pigmented as KVD, but 1 coat is ok, 2 coats is perfect for this liquid lippie. Big difference is that this Matte formula doesn’t dry out my lips at all. I have used this daily x 1 week, and very impressed on how it performs. Only thing I don’t like is that the applicator is flat and broad, find it hard to apply to my cupid’s bow without a lip brush for precise application. This is my new HG lippie for the work week.
Update: Got a deluxe sample in “infamous”. The formula is just like swag, mousse like. This shade I’d say is a neutral nude. I did not like the color on me, I prefer swag. But if looking for a true nude infamous is a great option.

I have this product in the color Swag. Let me say that I am not a huge fan of matte lipsticks, and I’m even less of a fan of matte liquid lipsticks. I have tried several, trying to get on board, and I just don’t care for them. I don’t like how dry most of them are, how they make your lips feel like all the moisture is being sucked out of them, how they can turn your lips into that puckered up “butthole” look after a few hours, lol, and so on. But when I read reviews on these, I thought, let me give it a try.
The verdict? I LOVE THESE. I’m so glad I decided to try them. I went to Ulta one day and tried on several shades until I found one that I thought was just right for me, Swag (described on the site as a blushed mauve; I have added a pic of me wearing it above). The product has a delicious cocoa smell and is more mousse-like rather than liquid. It applies very smoothly and does not highlight fine lines as other liquid lipsticks have done on me (though I always exfoliate and apply balm first, just fyi). It does not dry down completely which I realize might be a deal-breaker for some people, but the trade-off is that it is super comfortable. I would recommend letting it “set” as much as possible for 5 to 10 minutes before eating or drinking anything. Even though it does not dry down completely, I still easily get 4 hours of wear. Also, it somehow wears down evenly unlike a lot of other liquids that flake off and look patchy as the day wears on. I have had no problems reapplying on top of whatever is left a few hours later. My one complaint is that the applicator is rather large and comes out with just a bit too much product on it–but this complaint is specific to me as I have thin lips. 🙂
Overall, I am incredibly pleased with this product and want to buy more shades. They cost $18 at Ulta. I definitely encourage anyone to give them a try.
