For reference, I have a very fair, cool skintone and high-contrast features (bright winter).
I’ve been searching high and low for my perfect red lipstick, a breed so elusive I must have bought at least ten tubes before finding the shade that works for me. I was looking for a very bright, discernably blue-based red, unfortunately most red lipsticks turn orange on me due to my cool undertones. Not so with Nyx’s Chaos! This lipstick is insanely pigmented, lasts a long time (it actually stains my lips a little!) and is incredibly cheap. The colour is very bright and cool without veering into pink territory. The texture is slightly glossy at first so if your lipstick has a tendency to bleed and smear, you would be well advised to use a lipliner and avoid rubbing your lips together in the hour following the application. The packaging is flimsy (my tube broke after a year) but this lipstick is so cheap and flattering that I am more than willing to buy it again.
Nyx seems to be discontinuing the Round Lipstick line so I’m hoping against hope that they won’t get rid of Chaos!

Chaos is a classic blue-based red with a slight sheen. I already have a bajillion red lipsticks, but I still bought this one and I am glad that I did. This is the best red lipstick I have ever tried from the drug store, and I have sampled plenty over the years. I do tend to wear this with lipliner just to avoid any accidents, but I wear lipliner with most of my red lipsticks or other bold colors so it isn’t a big deal. I like the outer packaging, especially the little color window on the bottom that lets me see which lipstick I am grabbing. I highly recommend this product, it is one of my absolute favorites from the NYX lipstick line across all of their different formulas.

I have several of these round lipsticks that I got years ago, and I don’t wear them much because they are TOO creamy. They slid all around my lips and it was smear city. Hated the formula but the colors were really nice and pigmented in one swipe. They also smelled weird.
I just recently picked one up at Target in the shade Chaos. It is a gorgeous blue based red, it is so classy and sophisticated looking. It’s the perfect retro pinup red, and makes my teeth look whiter.
It seemed to have a better formula this time, did they redo these lipsticks recently? It felt better, not as slimy/smeary as before. It went on creamy and after a while kind of dried down to a nice not-quite-matte finish that lasted for hours. I didn’t wear a lip liner and it stayed in place.
It still has that same weird scent, like floral soap. I would prefer it to be unscented or vanilla personally but for the color and price ($4) for a killer red shade like this I will overlook it.

I like this red. HOWEVER, the packaging is really cheap. Once i opened it, the bottom where the lipstick rotates up snapped off. I fixed it and its fine but it scared me.
The color is okay, smooth and moisturizing, but the smell is very disturbing. It smells like a chemical wipe and it tastes like it, too.
The pigmentation is great, but you need a lip liner or it moves around a lot. It also stains the lips a bit.

This is just the shade I was looking for, a rich deep red. It looks great on my olive skin tone. It’s not matte it’s more of a satin finish so therefore it is not drying. It lasts a long time because I blot after I apply it. I will repurchase.

This is a darker red on me. Not as vibrant. Good for autumn. Comfortable and very long lasting.

I bought this when I was looking for a red lipstick that would work well with my fair skin. The shade on the packaging is misleading, as the actual lipstick is more of a hot pinkish-red than actual red. It goes on smooth, but a bit too smooth and slippery in my opinion and it tends to be quite transparent when you put it on your lips. Even with lip liner as a base this needs to be reapplied, because it fades from the center of your lips and you’re left with a weird red outline. It is also a bit too shiny and wet-looking for my taste and feels slimy on the lips.

Nice blue-toned red lipstick that works well if you have fair skin that leans towards the cool side. With no sparkle, sheen or pearl in it, it works well as a daytime red by keeping the rest of makeup light and neutral with the focus on just the lip color. Got a lot of compliments from women and men on this shade. Chaos applies creamy but stays put for a relatively good amount of time – lasted through coffee and even after lunch still some showed up. Agree with previous poster that it wears off from the center and will leave a ring around outer edge of lip so you’ll need to reapply at some point if eating or drinking a lot. Paid half price for this at drugstore (just over $2), but even at full price, I would not grouse about having to reapply after several hours of wear. This is the first NYX creamy formula lipstick I have tried. I have some of their matte shades which are also priced very well and the color wears a long time. I’d definitely try other lighter shades in this formula to see if they also stay put for as long as Chaos does.

Bluish red lippie. Tried yesterday and it stayed on for 7 hours. Very easy and smooth to apply. Moisturizing. Not as drying as nyx matte lipstick. I blot my lips twice upon application because it stays and stains longer. Applied at 230pm and ate at 340pm. Surprisingly colour stays after i ate! No need for touch ups. Nyx is great. Will want to purchase in other colours.

This lipstick knocked my WnW Stoplight lippie out of first place for best ds red. I am in loooooove with this shade. It’s just a gorgeous, glamouous, old Hollywood red. It is so smooth and doesn’t feel drying to my lips. It wears down really nicely to a pigmented stain. I usually put on my lippie around 830am and from then until 530 pm, I only have to re-apply twice: once around noonish and then around 2 when I get back from lunch. This four dollar lippie looks like a milion bucks!!
EDIT 6.2.2014: While the wear down on this lipstick is good, the wear off is not, I totally get the ring around the lip look if I don’t keep up with the re-apply.
