I love Besame’s Dusty Rose lip color. It is a long wearing matte color. On my fair complexion, it’s a warm dark reddish-pink, almost brick tone.
I put down a light lip balm before applying it and then use the pointed edge to create a lip line and then fill in with the flat side. After blotting, the lipstick will wear almost all day with minimal reapplication (just after eating).
And the smell of this lipstick is lightly vanilla-y which I think is heavenly.

Dusty Rose – in the tube it doesn’t look like much, but swipe it on and POW! the face comes alive in a believable, daytime YLBB moisturized pout. Wonderful texture and really a HG color for PPPs with cool undertones. Now I see what all the hoopla was about!

This is my second Besame lipstick, with my first being Red Velvet, which, honestly, I don’t think any other lip product could really hold a candle to. That being said, I really do like Dusty Rose.
The color is a really nice, darker (almost mauve on me) pink, that I think will be maybe better suited for daytime/running errands/easy summer things, than Red Velvet is. The formula is really what makes these products stellar in my mind, though. They are long lasting, not particularly drying, and they don’t have that horrible tendency to disappear along the edges first.
I am also a big fan of the shape of the lipstick, the chisel tip makes applications a breeze. The tube is smaller than most lipsticks you can buy, but it really does pack a punch, and doesn’t require nearly as much reapplication as some that I own. All in all, this is another great product from Besame. I look forward to trying more of their lipsticks in the future.

I love this color and am disappointed that Besame Cosmetics is no longer selling Dusty Rose in their classic Enchanting line. I was able to find the last 5-piece pink set at Zappos.com, so now I know what I have been missing, having only discovered Besame Cosmetics earlier this month. The two pinks I liked the least from the 5-piece set (Debutante Pink and Exotic Pink) are available at besamecosmetics.com, as opposed to the more wearable Portrait Pink and Dusty Rose.
Dusty Rose is a creamy mid-tone cool berry with a hint of brown. I agree with the previous reviewer that it is not necessarily subtle, but it depends on your lip pigment. With my fair neutral/cool skin tone and medium-rosy pigmented lips, Dusty Rose is one full shade darker than my natural pigment, so I can almost call it a MLBB, and it would definitely be a new HG if I could get it. It reminds me of MAC Brick-O-La, but a little cooler, more pigmented, and less drying.
Besame lipsticks tend to slide around a bit. The formulation is semi matte, but they are not as sticky as my other favorite retro lipstick brand (Julie Hewett), so the color needs something to anchor it down. I use Edward Bess lip pencil in Nude or MAC Whirl, or any lip pencil that matches my lips, and then blot.
I contacted Besame customer service about their future plans, and they informed me that they are bringing back this pink, as well as Portrait Pink, in early Q2 in a slightly larger (I assume different) tube. The reintroduction excites me, but changing the packaging disappoints me because I love the tiny gold (historically accurate) tube. Customers must have complained about the size and the fact that the product does not fully retract into the tube, but I don’t think they realized what they were getting. A little of this lipstick goes a very long way, and 40’s lipstick tubes were molded on bullet casings!
From what I understand, eventually, the classic Enchanting lipstick line will be available as a red set only. Bummer for me. I really like the petite size and shape, which makes it easy to line, so if you like the petite gold packaging, get them while you can.

This is the perfect everyday color for me. I have ivory, cool toned skin with dark hair and eyes. On me, Dusty Rose is a deep rose color, almost a berry shade. On the website it’s described as being a natural shade, but on my lips (which don’t have much pigment), it is far from subtle.
