Of the shades in the Beauty and the Beast lipstick collection, only Red Rose appealed to me, so I bought it alone.
Wow, Lorac hit it absolutely out of the park on this one!
I bought Red Rose for its color, and my expectations were exceeded. Red Rose is a gorgeously distinctive shade. This is one of those seemingly magical lipsticks that makes my NW15 skin look smoother and clearer; in fact, I could get by with wearing Red Rose and mascara alone, with no other makeup – it’s that flattering.
“Deep bright pink with a vibrant red undertone” is the best I can do by way of description. When I first swatched it on my hand, in fact, it looked rather like a straight-up bright red. On my lips, though, the pink element becomes more pronounced. Red Rose reminds me of MAC’s long-gone GLAM, but Red Rose is creamy, rather than matte. If you feel you can’t live without this color (I wouldn’t blame you!), but can’t get Red Rose, two reasonably close color dupes are Kiko Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 312 Cherry, or Colourpop Lippie Stix in Poppin’.
Red Rose is generously pigmented, and wears comfortably and tenaciously.
I wish this weren’t limited edition!
