Amazing matte lipstick.
This was the first time I tried MAC retromatte, and it didn’t make me disappointed. Few of my reviews for this best-seller long-lasting lipstick:
– Long-lasting: sure, it can stay on my lips up to 5 hours, faded a bit if i drink or eat. However, it meets my demands of daily make-up at work. Best matte I ever used. Suggest using straw while drinking to make it last longer. 😀
– Red-orange color: shines my medium-tone skin a lot. A very good choice for night party.
– Dry lips: of course, it’s a common issue of any matte lipstick, I have to use a lot coconut essential oil for moistuzing before applying this. It also leaves many dead cells on my lips at the end of day so I frequently have of peel off my lips.
– Smell: the famous vanilla smell of MAC is very pleasant and I’m fond of it
In conclusion, it’s one of my must-have items in my bag. Not sure to repurchase because I really want to try another color of MAC matte lipstick series. 😀

I LOVE this lipstick! And I’m not even a fan of orangey reds but this one is amazing. It was actually a gift from my boyfriend, he thought this shade would look good on me and apparently he was right! Love retromattes by mac, opaque and long lasting.

This was my first MAC lipstick! Got it at the airport duty-free shop for 15$ and I couldn’t believe it. There are no MAC shops in my country and the ones you can get your hands on are super expensive so I was thrilled.
Here’s a pic:
Anyways:
Color: The red with a bit of orange is what makes this shade so unique. I’m not a fan of plain red lipsticks so I loved it. It stays matte too.
Formula: It’s a little bit drying like most matte lipsticks. It’s better to moisturize a few minutes before applying because it definetly gives it away if you have dry lips, which I do.
Durability: It REALLY stays on haha they only thing I could remove it with was a MAC make up remover that the seller recommended. It does require a little touch up if you’re having drinks but no big deal.
Packaging: I gave it 4 lippies because once or twice the cap has come off and that could definitely ruin a good lipstick. Then again, no big deal. It was probably my fault because it wasn’t in a makeup holder but I like it better when the packages have some sort of secure thing to keep them closed.
Smell: I still have a love-hate relationship with it. It doesn’t smell bad, but it smell like plain makeup. Like you stole a lipstick from your mom. You know what I mean?
OVERALL:
Yes, def get it. It’s a great alternative to the plain red lipstick. Just keep in mind the moisturizing of the lips before applying and take good care of it by keeping it in a makeup bag when carrying it on your bag 🙂

This is the colour I was hoping So Chaud would be– an orangey-red that literally puts your lips centre stage. It’s part of the retro matte collection (where was I? I didn’t even know this collection existed) and so far I am quite impressed. It isn’t drying like Ruby Woo yet the matte finish is pretty fabulous. The only thing I would suggest is that the wearer exfoliate before putting this baby on as it does highlight chapped lips.
Olive toned girls, this is your summer shade! I tried this on in the store (I’m always in search of a fabulous orange that’s wearable and packs a punch) and the MUA was floored that it was the first orange that I tried on and it looked great against my skin tone (the same thing happened for All Fire Up moments later–again a must…but that’s another review)! This is a rarity.
In summary, Dangerous is the hip non-as-drying younger cousin of Ruby Woo (in my opinion) with a bright orangey-red matte colour that demands to be the centre of attention.

This is a gorgeous bright color and I lined it with NYX currant….POW!

The color is okay, anorangey-red, but probably the least inpressive mac lipstick i’ve had till date in terms of texture. Very, very drying. I’ve had other retro mattes from mac and been really happy with them but this is a nightmare! I wish I could retun it. It’s hard to apply, has low pigmentation, and fades easily. Applied over lip balm on exfoliated lips, it goes on smoothly enough, but if you have slightly dry lips like me, you will need to apply lip balm every time you reapply if you don’t want the lipstick to look patchy and flaky over dry lips. The color does look bright and happy, so ill probably use it for daily wear, but overall, did not meet MAC’s standard in lipsticks.

I went into the shop looking for the Ruby Woo but the color looked unspectacular for my skintone when I swatched it. Stumbled on Dangerous and it was love at first sight as it brightened my face immensely and it lasts for 5-6 hours, easily. Goes on with as little more pull than I prefer and fades a little dry but not flaky in touch up process. Perfect night out choice due to longevity but I wear it to work some days and not a color I worry about as it doesn’t budge or bleed.

I am Native American with extremely yellow undertones. I am an NC35 in the winter and an NC40-44 in the summer. First off, let me say that matte lipsticks are my favorite. I was looking for a nice summer color that wasn’t too red or orange for my tan skin. I love this shade, it goes really well with my skintone, also it has great staying power.

I cannot believe this hasn’t been reviewed!!
This is my first red lipstick ever and I’m decidedly in love!!
I’m nc15 – pale and yellowy olive. I’ve searched for years for a red that wouldn’t pull an awful shade of clashy blue/pink undertoned red.
I’ve tried brown or wine based reds (a la mac dubonnett type shades)- but they always remind me heavily of what my mom wore 20-some odd years ago in the 90s. They seem aging on me and not in a good way. Or it looks like an almost 30 year old woman trying to pull of a vampy look poorly, which also isn’t good….
So after years of just giving up and having a sad collection of boring MLBB shades year round– I decided that I was going into mac and not leaving without a red lipstick.
I looked up that orange based reds were supposed to flatter yellow undertones, I went into mac interested in looking at lady danger. When I tried it on it was MUCH too garish on my pale skin.
Then dangerous caught my eye. Expecting nothing I sterilized the tube and applied it on my lips in front of a mirror. This was the first time ever in my life I didn’t have the inkling to IMMEDIATELY wash my face after trying on red lipstick.
I left the mac counter and took a walk around the mall deliberately going into clothing stores so I could catch odd glimpses of myself in the mirrors (wait?.. Everyone doesn’t do this when they shop for lipstick)…
Anyway, any store no matter how horrendous the lighting I began to fall more and more in love with how AWESOME I looked.
Dangerous is bright, a true, almost crayon red on my lips- I don’t find it too orange, or pink or Ronald McDonald). Where most reds are either clashy or dull and aging, dangerous seems to brighten up my whole face. I instantly feel glamorous and this is the first red lipstick that I feel takes away from my skin textural issues (I feel like most bold lips seem to draw attention to them).
I am so so in love with this lipstick. I don’t know if it’s my every day red because it is definitely bright and bold. This LS commands attention. At the same time this color is still easy to wear– especially suited to spring/summer weather.
It’s a retro matte finish, which is slightly.. uh “matte-er” than macs original mattes.
It’s not drying, but I usually pat on a bit of balm before applying. This stains the lips well, but it’s also not painful to wash off. I also find it fades pretty evenly.
I can get through a beverage without this fading much but definitely need to reapply after eating.
The formula is very much workable, one swipe you can apply this like a red stain or you can build this up to a true pin up glamorous red.
I have tried for years to rock a pin up girl style, but with most reds being blue or pink based it’s hard for us fair olive girls to achieve that, this is honestly the first red I’ve tried to date that has ever made me feel close to a beautiful pin up girl– I love this lipstick!!
I sincerely hope it gains more popularity– this is definitely one of macs underdogs.
