This is a beautiful color, but on application it’s very dry and patchy. I think it looks lovely contrasted with my nc15 skin, but it takes so much work to get it on properly and it’s not creamy, smooth, or comfortable to wear. (I wish this shade was available by the Flower line, because their lipsticks have such lovely texture — that would be perfect.) I will try with a lip balm and liner, but that’s more work than I’m interested in doing on a regular basis, so I consider this purchase throwing $5 away. Bummer.

Why did I give this such a low overall rating? Because on a black woman, it looks more like “black” instead of “black cherry.” Plus, this lipstick does NOT go on smoothly at all. In fact, it’s rather sticky. It also smells & tastes horrible. I bought it in the evening, so I can’t comment on its staying power. It did, however, come off fairly well (with a little rubbing) using a baby wipe.

Just purchased this yesterday after eyeing for awhile. In the tube..it looks black, and that’s kind of what intrigued me. It’s a really pretty deep wine color, but when I first applied it, I was a little disappointed, as it didn’t really stay true to the name “black cherry”. I have WnW’s Cherry Bomb, and to me, it looks the exact same, like a dark red, except it’s not matte. However. I decided to try to darken it a bit with a black liner underneath. I just lined my lips, and then smudged it around the outer parts of my lips, only leaving the center bare, before applying the lipstick- PERFECT. I got the exact color I was looking for. It’s probably too dark for some, but I’m more comfortable in darker vampy reds, than bright, orangey, neon reds so I’m in love. Liners are my secret weapon. Also, with using a liner, I didn’t have any problems with this wearing of throughout the day. I’m sure if you wanted to lighten it, though, you could just do the reverse, and use a lighter pencil for the effect you’re looking for. 🙂

I saw this colour at CVS and had to grab it it’s a great dark vampy colour for Fall. Since the colder months are my favorite dark lip months I had to get this. On me I’m very pale NW20 is being generous with very cool undertones. This shade looks awesome on pale skin. I get compliments every time I wear it. It’s one of those you notice shades but not garish at all to me.
For me I need to do two very careful applications. I usually use lip primer with this or Mufe’s clear lip liner. With that it doesn’t bleed or feather on me. It stains quite nicely and does not dry my lips. If I’m wearing this all day I usually exfoliate my lips some how with my toothbrush or Fresh Lip Scrub. Then I add a little Chapstick of some sort if I’m not using primer let it soak in then apply. It lasts pretty long at least 4 hours if I’m super careful because the stain is pretty dark as well. I really like Milani products and this lippie is no exception.
I like the scent fruity… I can dig it;) I like how light it feels on my lips and how it doesn’t turn them into a shriveled mess. Plus this colour is fantastic on pale and darker skinned ladies. When I see pics I’m just like love! Great shade to try and it looks really great on and isn’t too much of a pain at all to wear for a dark lip stick. I love it and would repurchase if I lost it. If you see it pick it up I was pleasantly surprised and glad I did. Totally Recommended!

Super dark for me, but it looks amazing when you layer it with a lighter color. I bought a nude that was way too light, I layer it on top of the Black Cherry to make a gorgeous color. It goes on a little dry, but I think that’s what makes the color last and last.

Beautiful vampy wine lipstick. It doesn’t last long on the lips so I took one lippy off for longevity. The color was just a tad too dark for me, but that was my fault so no deductions there. I ended up giving it to a friend with a much darker complexion than mine and it’s gorgeous on her.

amazing color. high pigmentation. good texture. stains lips which is a plus for longwear.

Milani Black Cherry kicked my MAC Diva to the curb. Feels so great on my lips, great pigmentation and far cheaper than MAC. I also love the Jolly Rancher watermelon scent. Its a nice rich purple berry color that has some serious depth without translating as black on my lips (thinking of you MAC cyber). Even though spring is right around the corner I plan on rotating this beauty into the lineup.

I have really been lemming for Urban Decay’s Venom lipstick lately, so it seems I have been gravitating towards similar colors. As soon as I saw this in a review somewhere, I knew I had to try it.
The price was 5.99, and for your money, you get a gold colored tube with a colored label at e bottom showing the lipstick shade and the shade number. When the tube is opened, one would almost think there was watermelon Laffy Taffy inside. It is a very distinctive watermelon candy scent that could either be alluring or off putting, depending on the person. It just so happens that I love Laffy Taffy.
The lipstick itself is truly black cherry – a dark red/plum shade. I took off one point because it can be a little splotchy when it is first applied, and can also be a little smudgy. However, add a touch of lipgloss (I used NYX butter gloss in Creme Brûlée) and it smooths out very nicely. I am very pale with light yellow undertones to my skin, and the shade still seems to work for me, depending on what I am wearing that day. It is vibrant and eye catching, and in fact works a little better with lip gloss for me because it brings the tone down a little. The formula (which is both paraben and BHT free) doesn’t seems to be as drying on the lips compared with other brands as have tried, and the color holds on pretty well. If you’re looking for something vampy or different from the usual red, this is probably for you!

One of my HG lipstick shades. It is so gorgeous and vampy, and I wear it year round. Staying power is not great, but the color makes it so worth it. On my lips, it is a dark plummy red when applied straight from the tube. Sometimes, for day, I apply lip balm and then blend a few dabs into the balm to get a translucent stain effect, and in this case, it is a bit more like brick red. Either way, it is a gorgeous shade that everybody should own.
