I initially picked up the mini-size sampler set from Sephora after hearing some pretty good things about the brand, and was convinced to purchase several full size lipsticks. The formula is rich, creamy, and pigmented for the most part, though some shades are dryer than others. Dusty Rose is a beautiful mauvey color on my skintone (NC25 for reference) that makes for a wonderful daytime look. It applies well without much fading even after eating. I find it helps to apply it in the manner suggested by Besame: apply, blot, apply again, blot again. I can go a full day without needing to touch up if I apply it like this.

I also had a mini of this and misplaced it, sadly. It was more of a mauve. I bought the full size of Dusty Rose and it’s still a nice color but as someone else said, darker than I remember. Maybe the full size is more packed with pigment or maybe the color changed with a different batch. This new lipstick is almost a dark plum, no longer mauve or rose. I would never call it a nude because this batch is more of a wine than a flesh tone. The new Dusty Rose is nice but not exactly the same as the original. (The mini I had was less intense.) It leaves a stain on the lips so it seems like the color lasts longer even though it wears off just as easily as other lipsticks. This formula is matte. It doesn’t feel dry but it can make lips look dry after an hour or so. Even the full size lipstick is little. It’s cute and there is a lot of talk about the bullet shape but I can put on other brands’ lipstick just as easily and as fast. I’ll keep buying other lipsticks from Besame but I think I’m done with Dusty Rose. Moving on to other shades.

I love this. The colour is a great neutral/darker nude for me. Those with pigmented lips and colouring that suits red and darker lipsticks rejoice, this is beautiful (light and blonde girl nudes look awful on me). This is a stunning work and everyday colour. The formula is totally awesome, most lipsticks, drugstore and high end last 2.5 seconds on my lips so I’ve got into the habit of reapplying lipstick hourly through the day with other brands, Chanel, Dior etc, 2.6 seconds and my lips are bare. Then along came Besame! I put this on this morning and now I’m constantly reminding myself NOT to reapply because there is no need. Truly comfortable long wearing formula, everything I wanted Lipstick Queen and HE lipsticks to be. Besame all the way for me from now on in.

I had the same thoughts as the previous reviewer – the color looks darker than I expected, and as someone with a fair complexion (NC20 in MAC), Dusty Rose looks rather dramatic on me. When I apply it fully for opaque coverage, it’s a bold lip, almost vampy. I still like it but it is more of an autumn berry than a my-lips-but-better color. However, if I apply Besame Dusty Rose with a lip brush over a balm, or if I put gloss over it, I can get it to look more like the shade I had in mind. Or I can blot the color down to a stain, and that makes it look softer, too. Of the colors I already own, it’s somewhat similar to Charlotte Tilbury’s Secret Salma, except that Secret Salma is lighter, ever-so-slightly warmer, and more of a wearable daytime rose. I reach for that one more often. However, if you are tan or have a deeper skin tone, Dusty Rose might be the perfect “your-lips-but-better.”
Besame’s formula feels creamy on the lips and it’s comfortable, but the finish is definitely more of a matte than a cream. Sometimes I put a dab of gloss just on the lower lip to compensate for how matte these are. My lips have a tendency to dry out. But matte lipsticks do last well, much better than glosses, which is one of the things I’ve always liked about MAC’s mattes such as Velvet Teddy and Taupe.
With Besame there is no feathering or bleeding. The color transfers easily to cups or straws and will leave a lip print if you kiss someone on the cheek, but most lipsticks do. I like the packaging and the company’s retro vibe. The lipstick bullets appear small when compared to my other lipsticks, but according to the box they are a standard size. I think $22 is reasonable when you like the shade and formula. This brand has some beautiful replica reds.
I purchased Besame Portrait Pink for Spring, which is more of a baby pink, almost a bubblegum pink, and I bought Portrait Peach. Dusty Rose is a lovely shade; I just find myself trying to cheat it lighter. When I’m in the mood for Besame Dusty Rose, it looks pretty with plum eyeshadow and pink blush. (By the way, Charlotte Tilbury’s Savage Rose lip liner is a good companion for this lipstick.)

I purchased Besame Dusty Rose a few weeks ago from The Vermont Country Store (Besame was out of stock). I waited with great expectation for my package to arrive and the first thing I opened from the box was this lipstick.
I have a number for the original Besame “Enchanting” lipsticks which were very small (almost “sample” sizes). This new lipstick is just a tad smaller than most lipsticks but still packaged in a signature Besame gold and red metallic case. The lipstick itself is semi-matte, feels good on the lips, non-drying and very pigmented. It has a vanilla-ish scent (some describe it smelling like “hot chocolate) which is pleasant. I’m not a fan of flavored or scented lipsticks but this was okay. Lots of reviewers say that their Besame lippies have better than average wear but I didn’t find that to be the case. I drank some coffee from a light colored mug about half an hour after applying the lippie and got heavy transfer. I think the lipstick has a stain in it so it appears to wear better than it actually does.
I applied the lipstick with a brush and it went on nicely but the color is not the color shown on most of the on-line swatches I’ve seen for Dusty Rose, which appear to be maybe pinker and mauvey-er, which is what I remembered this shade to be in the original Enchanting line. This Dusty Rose on me was browner, darker, and redder. It looked like brownish red mixed with a medium rose color. It was very pretty but not the color I was expecting to get. On me this was a tad too dark and dramatic to be a MYBB color – it isn’t something I’d put on for a very casual look, which is disappointing as I bought it more as an everyday type of lippie than a dress-up color.
An aside: I was so bugged that I thought this color was different than the Enchanting version of Dusty Rose that I went digging in some stash boxes to see if I could find the original version. Voila – I found it – it came in a boxed set of pink shades of the Besame Enchanting line (included some colors no longer being made). Sure enough, it WAS different – looked something close to Revlon’s Mauvy Nights and wasn’t as brownish/red as the new version. The original looks as if it should be called “Dusty Rose”- the new version, not really. It would be interesting to see which 1969 lipstick Besame based this color on. My bet would be that the original version was closer to that 1969 color than the new version is.

I think this is my new go-to lipstick. It looks like your average deep, cool pink in the tube, but on the lips–wow! It’s a gorgeous deep, cool, mauvey-pink that completes most any look and is incredibly flattering. Applied lightly, it’s perfect for a casual look; a little more, and it’s perfect for work. It’s MLBB but much, MUCH better. And it applies easily, gives a semi-matte finish, and once it’s on, it stays on. I got a solid 5+ hours of wear despite snacking and drinking–impressive. It has a very, very faint vanilla-ish scent, does not dry out my lips, and is gluten-free. And it comes package in the signature Besame tube which I’m not crazy about (it’s a little gaudy), but it’s compact, very sturdy, and will not come open in your purse. I will absolutely repurchase this lipstick–and I may use this one right down to the nub!

Ok this is the best lipstick color I have found, out of more then 50 different lipsticks I own currently this one is my favorite. It is a semi-matte finish and has this lush feel to it that doesnt dry out my lips. It stays on extremely well through all kinds of eating and drinking. DH wont kiss me with lipstick on so I cant speak to kissing, lol. But the color is great. I have had three strangers come up to me when wearing it and tell me how beautiful it looks. So if you dont have it, get it. Its that good, yes I bought a backup, and might buy another one. I believe Besame said it is a LE shade. So enjoy!

Dusty Rose is a near-matte medium shade of dusty pink/mauve from the Classic Color lipstick range. A great color for daily wear. I discovered Besame recently and before purchasing this lipstick I read some reviews here on MakeupAlley as well as blog posts about it, and they all noted that the size of the lipstick is very small. I was a little concerned because it’s pretty expensive at $22, but I took the plunge anyway because of all the raves it got nonetheless.
And I’m glad I did! Apparently the original range of lipsticks, called Enchanting, that Besame released were very small but the current Classic Color range is nearly the same size as a regular MAC lipstick (both the packaging and the lipstick bullet). I was relieved haha! The vanilla scent is comparable to MAC’s as well. It comes with a cute little velvet pouch that you can use to protect the shiny gold metal case should you decide to put it in your purse or wherever.
The quality is outstanding! The bullet is unique, you can use the center top edge to line your lips and then use the sides to fill them in, so no lip liner is needed for a defined look. The product is very creamy, extremely pigmented, longlasting, and comfortable to wear- not drying at all!
