I so wanted to love these. Given the success I had with the Creme Lux lipsticks, I was hoping that these would perform as beautifully, but unfortunately, they do not.
I picked up two shades – Y2K (rosy medium-dark nude brown) and 21 Questions (rusty medium-dark nude) and while the shades are gorgeous and pigmented, I just could not get them to work.
Like I said, they are pigmented. They have this interesting blotted look that really looks quite flattering and fresh, rather than a typical full-on lipstick. And the matte finish is very powder-like. The packaging is exactly the same as the Creme Lux range, so it gets points for that; it’s pretty, sturdy, and feels quite high-end.
However, it is one of the most drying formulas I’ve ever tried. Even upon initial application, with prepped lips, it seemed to pull and accentuate any dryness that wasn’t even visible before application. The longer I wore it, the more dry it felt. It didn’t sink into lines or make my lips look shriveled, but it felt incredibly uncomfortable. I do have dry lips normally, but they usually can be managed with the right formula.
I can’t really speak to the wear time, because I couldn’t manage to keep either shade on my lips long enough to find out how well it stayed put. I can say that for the hour each that I wore them, they did look as fresh as when first applied, but that’s still not a viable assessment of wear time.
If your lips aren’t prone to dryness, you may enjoy these. But if you have even remotely dry lips, you may want to steer clear, or simply search for a shade in the Creme Lux range and blot it down to get the same effect.
