This is a first impression review. First off I bought this at a discount on a online retailer just in case I wasnt impressed with the color etc.
This is my first LQ purchase and so far think I m already in Love with this line. I bought this in the Sheer formula. There are three.
Intense (full coverage) Sheer, and Metal (deep shimmer). The sheer is very nice on its own a deep berry shade. It went on very smooth, moisturizing and even though I usually avoid dark lipsticks this can be used as a topper. I dare say this could replace my Givenchy black buildable lipstick which is nice but really expensive and I could do without the slight floral scent. The LQ is more intense in color (later will post pics) than the Givenchy Noir(#16) -more sheer with one swipe and seems when I compare it side by side with the Givenchy will become a little warm/neutral in tone. Works well with my lipliners and again as a topper too. I hope LQ does not discontinue because this is a winner for me. ♥️♥️👄💄👄
Love the sturdy packaging.
Update: noticed the side of the lipstick leaning in its stand. I believe this has to do with the softness of the bullet. it started 2 weeks after I started using it. Will post pictures later. Still love the color but I think maybe the co should consider redesigning the case to allow for the softer texture. I will probably have to put this in my ‘fridge as it gets hot in the summer and my m/u has sometimes gone bad faster.

This is a glossy dark purple-berry colour in nice quality feeling, metal packaging. I like the comfortable and scent-free Lipstick Queen formula. The colour leans a bit too purple for my liking, but if the colour suits you then the price may be worth it.

I was doing my annual fall berry lipstick hunt and decided to try this. Lipstick Queen berry was not available at Ulta so I picked this up. To be honest didn’t realize the price was $40 instead of the other lipsticks $22 until I got home. Decided to try it anyway. As another reviewer said it wears very similar to Clinique black honey. It’s pretty berry but no reason for its cost when you can get the same look for a lot less. At least with Clinique black honey I can keep a lipstick at home and one in my bag. There’s no way I’d be buying multiples of a $40 lipstick like this one.
Update: this lipstick does not wear well throughout the day. It wore uneven and blotchy compared to other high end lipsticks. The color also wore to an unnatural looking purple. Solidifies my intent to stick with Clinique black honey.

Update: If you love purple berry undertones this is one for you. If you want a much more luxurious and lasting berry/wine try LQ Velvet Rope, Entourage. It goes on very dark but blots to a beautiful raspberry shade, and lasts 4-6 hours.

This is a beautiful sheer berry that is long lasting. I have many LQ lipsticks in Saint, Sinner, Velvet Rope as well as Medieval and Hello Sailor. I think this is the best Lipstick Queen I have, and I do really love them all.
The colour of this range is deep berry and with one swipe the Sheer is a nice rosey mauve, which reminds me of the colour of a drop of red wine on a white cloth. With a few more swipes it is a lovely beetroot shade.
The lipstick is moist and shiny on and feels like a balm but it really lasts and gives a lovely natural tint to the lips as it wears off.
I will be trying the Bete Noir in Metal or Intense next as I think I will like the stain effect.
Really delighted with LQ again.

The price of this lipstick (actually more an amped-up lip tint) is definitely on the outrageous side, at $40. I only bought it because I had a gift card, thinking, it’s a gift, so why not, as I’d been curious about it.
I have to say, I’m not disappointed — but I’m not 100 percent satisfied, either. (More on that in a sec…)
The case is a deep wine color, and very heavy and made of metal. It feels quite substantial in the hands. It opens easily yet shuts securely, which is wonderful considering the pricey product protected within.
Applying it, one swipe and you get a sheer hint of blackberry tint, but a few more swipes and you get a good amount of pigment, and looks somewhat glossy. It’s not like a full application of an opaque lipstick, but it can get quite dramatic (and yet still natural) on pale complexions, and it’d also look great on dark complexions.
The formula feels very moisturizing. More slick than something like Chapstick, but not greasy at all. It feels silky with that wonderful glide. There’s no scent or flavor. The color applies evenly and the product feels really nice on lips, rather nourishing. It also wears evenly where the slickness abates somewhat and you’re left with a nice stain. I’ve actually applied a couple swipes before bed at night and woke up the next morning with a pretty stain on my lips.
My one disappointment is this broke in the tube after a little while. I think it’s because it’s a softer formula than your average creme lipstick. I’d had it stored upside down in a makeup case, and when I used it one day the bullet dislodged. For $40, I was hoping for more sturdiness, since part of the fun is to enjoy the product and the packaging.
So I love the lip tint and the case, yes, but $40 is way too steep. If I had crazy mad money I’d possibly buy it again when I used it up, but otherwise this will be my first and last, just because it’s a touch too decadent in terms of price, and something like Clinique’s Black Honey offers a similar kick (albeit not as deep a color) for much less money.

Fell in love with this stuff while trying it on at a local Space NK: Been looking for a sheer, moisturising berry balm or stain type colour for a while now. I’m a big fan of Lipstick Queen’s Chinatown pencil in Mystery, but this was more moisturising and has a slightly better, richer colour. Plus there’s no wastage when you sharpen the pencil, which always makes me sad.
It was a good thing that I was in the mood to treat myself, as the downside came when I discovered the price: Funnily enough, the price for this particular range didn’t appear on the display card, which is hardly surprising considering they seem to be the most expensive products in the range!
It’s lovely, the colour goes on evenly and doesn’t go on too patchy unlike many sheers or tinted glosses. It’s beautifully moisturising too .. but it’s absolutely not worth £28, especially for such a sheer looking finish. The other two in the range, as they’re more lipstick than balm, may be worth it, as the blackberry colour range really is lovely. The beautiful colour is why it’s got four lippies rather than three.
If, like me, you’re feeling in the mood for a treat and you’re fed up with tinted balm products that are either red (after all, we have Medieval for that..!), or the pageant-child-pink that most other balms seem to think we want, then go for it.
So there you go, I now have a rather nice, but very expensive tinted balm type product. I’m happy enough, but I do feel slightly sheepish at having spent so much on something that won’t last too long at the rate I’m using it!
