   This amazing, cheap, difficult-to-find product is a much-too-well-kept secret. Do you want that lip colour that lasts ALL DAY through EVERYTHING? Do you kind of want that Lipsense product, but don’t like the burning alcohol sensation or the MLM business model? This lipstick is everything you want and need in your life!

   First of all, I live in Canada and literally cannot get this product here, and I am super sad about that. I bought this lipstick, unused, from a local fashion blogger that picked it up at a beauty convention. Since then, Absolute New York ditched their Canadian website and stopped shipping to Canada. I’ve seen some A.N.Y. products at Winners since then, but not this lipstick. So American girls, this post is for you.

   The name of the product is very appropriate and tells you what to expect. The stain itself wears like a hybrid between a liquid lipstick and a stain. It has a kind of fruit punch scent. There is lots of pigment here, so if you want a subtle look you’ll want to wipe the excess off the doe-foot applicator before you apply. It layers well; depending on how much you apply you can have a soft stain or an opaque lip colour. That said, the colour I own (Femme Fatale) is not the most subtle shade, so the others are probably much more subdued as a stain.

   When I say this lasts through everything, I mean it. I pack this when I travel. I bring it along when I need a no-fuss day without touchups. I rock it at music festivals while I drink beer all day. And I choose to wear it to special events so that I don’t need to reapply or worry about pictures. This lipstick will hang on strong, even through meals. Sometimes, it fades a bit. But because it’s a stain, it’s a pretty fade. I may choose to reapply it after lunch to keep the colour super strong, or I may choose to reapply after work if I have evening plans. But it really depends on what you’re going for, because the slightly-faded stain is still super beautiful.

   I can think of two cons to this product: 1) Like all liquid lipsticks and stains, it won’t do well with chapped lips because it will settle into cracks and dry skin. Exfoliate your lips to prevent this. 2) It’s a little tricky to apply. Make sure you use a mirror, wipe the excess off the applicator, and carefully use the tip of the applicator to apply around the edges of your lips to keep the line neat. Again, this criticism could apply to all liquid lipsticks, they’re just not as low-maintenance as bullet lipsticks. I won’t even dock any stars for these “cons.”

   All that said, the glossy finish makes this differ from a traditional liquid lipstick in an important way: it’s totally non-drying. You will not get raisin lips. Most of the time, I feel like there is nothing on my lips when I’m wearing this.

   As for the colour, Femme Fatale is a beautiful dark red wine shade. I get compliments often when I wear it. It makes your face look bright and your teeth look white. Depending on how much you build, it can be a soft berry stain or a vampy dark red lip. I have a couple other shades similar to this, but they are gathering dust lately. This one is just my favourite.

   This beautiful product is just $7 USD on the Absolute website. Next time I have an American friend visiting me, or when I visit America, I am ordering more colours. The formula is to good to pass up.
