   I have thin lips, so I need to be careful about what I wear on them to not make them disappear. I tend to avoid very pigmented or opaque lip products for this reason, leaning towards tinted lip balms. Stains work pretty well for me, but lipsticks are generally a no-go. I would normally avoid a product like the YSL Glossy Stain, which resembles a cream lipstick to me, but I saw the reviews and had a gift card to a store that sells them, and picked it up in #15 Rose Vinyl.

   This product is quite awesome and unlike any lip product I’ve used before. It’s more opaque and creamy than a stain, longer lasting than a lip gloss or lipstick, not as shiny as a gloss, but not matte, either. The longevity is not quite as good as a typical stain for me – maybe about two hours (full disclosure, I drink coffee and water pretty much constantly), but in return the opaque formula makes your lips look a bit more even. While I wouldn’t say it’s particularly moisturizing, it’s not drying either. I apply a light lip balm when I wake up which absorbs enough by the time I put on makeup, and that’s more than sufficient to make sure my lips aren’t uncomfortably dry when I apply Glossy Stain.

   I have very pale, yellow-toned skin and the color looks great on me. In swatches it looks a bit too hot pink and vibrant to be wearable for me day-to-day, but I went by the reviews, and when I blot it a few times and it leaves me with a bright but subdued-enough-for-work rosy-pink.

   I actually recently got a compliment on this lip color and a request for the name of it from a coworker. Having not much in the way of lips – so it’s hard for my lips to be impressive enough for a compliment – this is quite unusual for me and a testament to this product.

   In terms of repurchasing, I put down a ‘yes’ because I would like to, but the price makes it a bit iffy. It would be a 100% yes if it were cheaper. And I still might repurchase in spite of the price. I’m kind of curious about the other colors now, too.

   I almost wish I had never tried this because I sense an expensive problem in my future. I’ve always liked a sheer, glossy lip, and I’m glad they’re “coming back.” (Even though I don’t give a fig about trends, unless they work in my favor by stocking shelves with new products to my liking.) This is expensive, like $36 (!!!) but it’s YSL and a luxury, treat-yo-self product. Rose Vinyl is a clear bright rose-pink, very lush, fresh, and youthful. It’s not an edgy shade, which I do lean towards, but it’s just so pretty, and it makes my face look pretty too. The packaging is obviously gorgeous, and the applicator is a doe-foot – kind of flimsy in a wobbly way, which I assume was R&D’d to death but it annoys me slightly haha. The product itself has a gloopy, gummy texture, which sounds gross – it’s not though, it’s just different. I apply carefully (it is a stain after all, don’t wanna get it outside the lipline for that lovely clowny look), the first layer can be uneven/patchy but easily smoothed over, and the shade can be built up to more opacity if you want. Initially it’s sticky and you can feel it on your lips but it does dry down to almost nothing (a little tackiness but not to the point of weirdness). And it lasts! Not all day, a few hours on me unless I eat a full meal (then it’s gone) but most glosses last what, 30 minutes? It keeps its shine too. It smells like YSL. I’m gonna get more. Pray for my finances.

   This is such a sad one. I bought two online percause I though the reviews were excellent, the ideo of the product seemed perfect. But I totally hate this. I It like neon pink and glossy, It looks so cheap. It clashes with my skin tone. The product dries out my lips. Worst purchase of the year. Wear it twice and I just toss it. Can’t not wear it 🙁

   I LOVE YSL! This is the a warm mid tone pink that looks great on my brown skin. It keeps my lips moisturizer and lasts about 2-3 hours on me. After I apply with the wand applicator , I do have to work the product into my lips with my finger but I think it is because my lips have gotten wrinkly with my age. I am a sucker for warm pinks and this one fits the bill….highly recommend!

   Received this as a Christmas gift from my Sister, and loved it since! The packaging is gorgeous and expensive looking (Indeed pricey). The color payout is great and looked so flattering on my asian skin! There’s seldom any lipstain / lipstick that could stay on my lips after a meal, but I tried it out today and it did! So mega pleased with it! Will definitely re-purchase the color, however will try to seek for a cheaper alternative as it costs SGD 43 whooping bucks!

   There’s no doubt that this is a 5 star product! Once I was able to stomach the hefty price tag, I couldn’t deny that this glossy stain is an all-around champ. I only have one glossy stain, and that’s 15 Rose Vinyl. I’m a pale person, and it’s a rosy pink on me — perfect for that cute, glossy lip. I really hate the way most stains dry my lips out; the feeling is just awful! The YSL glossy stain doesn’t make me feel that way. It’s not drying, and even better: reapplying doesn’t exacerbate any dry skin or flakes on my lips. I do need to reapply after eating since it doesn’t last through that (but few lip products do, so I’m not crushed). It also smells amazing. I think all YSL lip products smell the same, but I love whatever it is.

   I’ve heard that the L’Oreal Colour Caress stains are dupes, which is possible since they’re of the same parent company. I haven’t tried them, so I can’t attest to it =(

   Love this so much. Gorgeous MLBB with shine. Out of all the lip products I’ve ever used, in the limited time I’ve worn this it has racked up the most compliments. I use it when I want to make an impression at work bc it looks sophisticated, not overdone, and lasts all workday.

   This is HG material. Rose Vinyl is a medium warm pink colour which can be sheered out or built up. I use it the most under lipsticks to make sure that my not-very-pigmented lips still have colour when the lipstick wears off. The lasting power is incredible – without a doubt the longest-lasting lip product, stains included, that I’ve ever tried. If I wear it on its own, the colour brightens up my face remarkably (as most warm pinks do for my skin tone), and the glossiness lasts for several hours. However, I have to be careful not to apply too much, as it can look garish on me.
   You can use this over a lip liner too, if your lips are uneven in tone, like mine, and you need a liner to even things out, but of course it won’t last as long as applying it to bare lips will. I have three Glossy Stains (this, 7 and 17), and this is by far my favourite, and the most versatile for my colouring.

   These Glossy Stains are absolutely perfect! I have never been a lipstick wearer- always gloss only. These have changed that. i can’t see myself being without these- ever!

   I wrote my initial review on #17- Encre Rose, which I think is my favorite. It is slightly less rich than Rose Vinyl. #17 is also more Violet. Rose Vinyl is a true Rose Pink. Very stunning. Does not look like your typical generic lip stain. The formula is SO comfortable- feels like nothing on the lips- which is important to me… and even after it has dried, after a few hours of wearing, it looks like it was JUST applied, and still looks fresh and flawless.

   I love these stains and will continue to buy them as long as they continue to make them! I’m sure I will pick up more colors as I go, since I adore this stuff.
