I got one of these in the Baby Butter Box from Wall Mart. The color is lovely, very shimmery and fairly sheer. The texture is silky and very emollient yet lightweight, but the TASTE! I should have expected as much with an SPF lip product, but my Blistex 5 Star Balm never tasted this bad when I would absentmindedly lick my lips or take a sip of a drink. This stuff has a bitter, chemical taste and that alone makes it off putting, despite the gorgeous texture and color.

Mauvin’ to Brazil is the only notable shade of the 2 I picked up BOGO as the other *is* colored but so pale on my lip it looks like nothing so here’s my ode to Mauvin’ (mauve-get it). I LOOOVE this. I’m always seeking spf like products that aren’t like banana boat or Australian gold chapsticks. I like supergoop gloss to go over any lip color. Anyway these were new arrivals at my store and I gotta say I love the texture (super creamy) taste (sweet) color (this is a pale yet visibly pigmented cool toned mauve) and spf (15) in this so much that anytime I’m not doing a heavy lip look (so before and after makeup is on me lol – this isn’t something I’d wear on a full face as I am a lip person), it’s in my pocket. Most notable to me additionally is the beautiful blush this makes. It’s a natural dewy flush on my nw20 cheeks. Dewy as in sticky that will attract any fuzz within a 10 mile radius but damn it’s flattering on your skin like NO highlighter can mimic the effect of this shiz on your cheeks. You’d have to be quite pale and cool for this particular shade to show, but it’s so pretty and inexpensive id recommend purchasing one in a suitable color match that would work on your skin tone’s lips and also cheeks at least to see what I’m talking about (for normal/dry skin on cheeks only).

On a sales person’s recommendation at Ulta, she said she loved them for a sheer lightweight look so I bought 5 of these. The colors are very sheer and are very greasy, not glossy just greasy. The tube makes them hard to apply without them crumbling and melting over the side of the stick. And to top it off within weeks of purchase several started to smell rancid. So even though the colors were pretty I cannot recommend these

I am in love with these. I got my first one when I finally decided to try some of the Butter line and picked up the Murumuru Baby Butter Box from Walmart a couple of months ago. That was the shade Beijos (exclusive to the box set, I believe), which is a hard to describe almost apricot shade, but it’s super sheer. I fell in love with the formula and bought Acai Berry shortly after, and I love it, too. It’s slightly more pigmented, and a nice pink-y/purple berry shade. Yesterday I picked up another one in the shade Brazilian Nut, which is a gorgeous brown-y nude that leans a little warm/pink-y. That one is the most pigmented of the three I’ve tried, but it’s still not as opaque as a traditional bullet lipstick.
I’ve always preferred gloss over any other lip product, so I’m really excited about sheer lipsticks that are somewhere between a lipstick/balm or lipstick/gloss becoming more popular. Another great thing about these is that they have SPF 15, which isn’t a lot, but I feel like a lot of us maybe forget about putting SPF on our lips sometimes. I have a higher SPF clear balm I keep in my bag, but I like that I don’t feel like I absolutely have to reapply that first every time I want to touch up the color on my lips.
I’ve tried other sheer products kind of like these (or at least products that felt similarly on the lips), but they always either dried my lips out (so weird for a product that was supposed to be hydrating) or the color would settle into the lines of my lips or emphasize any dry patches. These don’t do any of that. They’re not ultra moisturizing, but they are so comfortable. Even when my lips were chapped recently, these felt nice. I think if your lips are very dry, the color might cling to the dry patches, but if they’re just a little dry, you’ll be fine. When mine were particularly dry, I opted for the Beijos shade and put it on over a really hydrating balm and you couldn’t even tell my lips were dry and peeling in places.
These feel great on the lips, in my opinion. They’re slick, but not super greasy feeling, and the smell isn’t horrible. They do smell a little like some other lipstick I used to wear (maybe Revlon, but it’s been a long time so I’m not sure), but it’s not overpowering like some (*cough cough* Maybelline *cough*), and after a minute or so I don’t notice it anymore.
While all of these make me think of spring and summer, because they’re sheer, I think all three shades I have will work year round. I’m particularly looking forward to Brazilian Nut and Acai Berry in the autumn, though, because I tend to gravitate more towards berries and browns then.
I’m almost certainly going to pick up more of these, and I might end up with most of the line eventually because I really love them. I was never a big fan of the matte lip trend, even though I think it’s gorgeous. I like products like these that are no fuss to apply or touch up, make me look a little more put together than a clear balm or gloss would, don’t fade in weird patchy ways, and don’t end up all over my face or teeth.

Picked this up in the shade Soaking Up the Sun and tried it today. It is a very buttery creamy formula that has a good amount of shine and pretty decent pigment. Even 4 hours after I applied my lips still had pigment and moisture so I’m pleased and may try another shade. Will be a nice summer lip balm to wear when I want to look good but also natural and sunkissed. However I did take off a lippy for the tubes not being properly sealed. In this day and age that’s kind of shocking and possibly unhygenic in the case of people opening the tubes to swatch the colors.

I got this in the color Pinkini. It’s creamy and feels nice and moisturizing on my lips. I don’t care for the smell, though. It’s not terrible, but I would prefer to not have any sort of fragrance to it. I can’t quite place the smell, but to me it’s sort of peachy. The color is good for something with “butter” in the name, there’s a lot of pigment. Overall it’s nice and I find myself reaching for it more than I thought I would. Especially with summer coming, it’s sheer enough for warm weather activities where you don’t want to look like you’re wearing a bunch of makeup. I might buy another if this one gets used up!

I got two of these to try: Pinkini (medium warm dark pink) and the Mauve shade. I expected them to be sheer like CoverGirl Lip Slicks, but was surprised to find they have more pigment and are not sheer. They are very creamy on the lips, which feels good and leaves a slight stain. The packaging is ok, but I was disappointed to see the tubes were not sealed–not hygienic and will create used items. If compared to my HG Revlon Lip Butters, these are not quite as good, since the creaminess makes the color bleed and change more on lips. A plus is the SPF and very nice colors for summer–I will try the brighter shades.
