Update 12/2019 I kept this in the back of my drawer to “someday try again.” I‘D purchased a couple Crown lipsticks (to save my few remaining good lipsticks for “worthy” wearing); the Crown lipsticks are gorgeous, but the color migrates to everything, even my teeth. I tried this lipstick setting product yet again, I had exactly the same experience as before. My lips not only tingled, but they hurt a little from this product due to winter dryness.. and I have good lip care. I’ve tossed this Lip Set out, and lowered my rating from 2 stars to a 1 star. Don’t waste your money!!!
Original Review: LipMix by Mehron is a clear liquid that comes in what looks like a nail polish bottle with a brush that has slightly tilted bristles. I’m not sure if the ends of the brush are supposed to be a little scewed (slightly tilted) or if I got an unusual one. It smells strongly like mint (mint is not an ingredient).
It makes my lips tingle for over 20 minutes after I use it. The instructions say to “let dry one minute.” I wear emollient lipsticks; this doesn’t fully set after a couple minutes—but that may be because of the Type of lipsticks I use. I blot my lips after ten minutes and there is a full-out lip print on the white tissue… it was only a little less product on the lip blot than if I had not used the product. And my lips were tingling away. (Not lip plumping—and no lip plumping claimed—just tingling). This didn’t make my lipstick last any longer, nor did it keep my lipstick from leaving lip prints on glasses and cups.
It’s not drying. Again, could be because of the emollient lipbase I use. It doesn’t have any of my many allergens—that’s a plus.
I will keep this product to try with other types of lip stain, lip pencil and lipstick products. My lack of success with this product may be partially my own fault due to the lip products I use over it.
I will update in a month or two. As of this time, I’m disappointed in the product. Maybe time will change that.. will see.
