First off I just love the finish and color it also smells amazing. Normally I wear this alone with clear lip liner also occ. But if I need a lighter color is also my go to base color for mixing. I just love it

I actually should have bought this instead of the regular Black Dahlia. Unlike Black Dahlia, Black Metal isn’t a goppy drippy mess which means I don’t get the stuff smeared all over my teeth, chin, men, etc! Even though finish is metalic it’s still sublte and therefore good for both day and night time use. Doesn’t bleed and looks great on my skintone.

I love this color. On me, it’s a pinky burgundy with glitter. The other OCC lip tars I tried just weren’t right for me. Maybe it’s because I figured out the trick of using a lip scrub before and then applying. It does last and stain nicely. I wore it to a wedding a few weeks ago and I never had to touch up or reapply. 🙂 I’m just getting to the age where lots of lip products bleed on me but not this one. I’m in love.

I bought only a sample of Black Metal Dahlia, because, to be honest, I was intimidated by it.
I’m NW15, and even though I like to wear a strong lip, I’m just not into the goth/vampire look, and I was afraid that’s what Black Metal Dahlia would give me.
Not so. Black Metal Dahlia is *not* black, but a beautiful shimmering deep deep burgundy red. Unless you apply gobs of it, which does not work at all well when dealing with a Lip Tar anyhow, you won’t end up with scary black lips. If your lips are well-hydrated, exfoliated, lined with clear liner and primed, a small dab of Black Metal Dahlia, applied carefully with a lip brush, will yield a beautiful deep red wine lip, and the color will hold up well for at least two to three hours. For added staying power, I layer Black Metal Dahlia, and all other Lip Tars, over a similarly-colored stain.
I’m really rather surprised by how much I like Black Metal Dahlia; a full-size tube may be in my future, after all.

Woah nelly! Do I adore this lip tar! This is probably my second fave LT in the OCC line (my #1 is Vintage). This specific formulation is a little tougher to work with than the regular tars though IMO – the glitter/metallic seems to be a bit heavy and settles into my lines a lot more than the matte ones. But the cool thing is that this formulation seems to benefit from a primer and/or lip treatment underneath, whereas the mattes don’t fare well with a base. Since LT’s can be/appear quite dry, this shade definitely benefits from some MAC lip glass – it seriously takes it up a notch. I think this shade is good for all skin tones, from light to dark and all in between.

This is definitely one of my go-to vampy red lip colors. I love the drama and the metallic shimmer. I always get compliments when I wear it. It’s beautiful and edgy at the same time. I don’t love how the product separates in the tube after a while, but it’s really good stuff and therefore not a deal breaker.

I’m a very pale redhead, and this is a really fun and dramatic look on me – brilliant hot pink/burgundy with glitter. I use the lip primer underneath and over as a gloss if my lips feel dry. That makes the color less bright, but that’s fine by me. It lasts really well, and the day after I wear it I notice my lips are especially soft and moisturized from the oils in the formula. It doesn’t feather on me, but I’m careful to only apply a teeny (itty bitty, miniscule) droplet of color and blend from the inside of the lip out. I’m going to buy more colors!

Dense gorgeous irridescent magical. Dark balckened maroon with sparkle rednflecks. The tiniest dot stains and lends a deep lusciousness to the lips. Second layer adds glamour! Highly recommended as one of the best lip tars besides Hoochie

I loooove OCC and after a disappointing try with another company that claims to be vegan *see my other reviews* I committed to only supporting companies that get veganism and what it all encompasses and also give good customer service. But for those of you who aren’t a crazy straight-outta-Berkeley vegan like me, this is still amazing and all things you could want in a lip product.
I have black hair and blue eyes and this dark wine-blood-shimmer compliments my coloring like none other! It’s gorgeous and the shimmery finish doesn’t take away from the lip tar formula. Apply this with a brush and you’re set for hours of wear without smudges or fading. This can feather and if you have lip lines, clear lipliner will help that.
I don’t like the tube packaging and I’ve heard these can explode and for me the product leaks out sometimes. If they’d fix that it’d be perfect, but the product itself is so good I can’t complain too much.

I’ll preface my review with the following: I’d been intrigued with the Lip Tars for quite some time. Since they’re not available in my small town Sephora I decided to research them online and just go for it and order some. I currently own about 7 of them and, I have to admit, I haven’t exactly been over the moon about them. I find them to be drying and relatively high maintenance. My general opinion about them became “not really worth it.”
Enter Black Metal Dahlia, a blackened burgundy with red pearl. Absolutely stunning. I have been wearing this bad boy daily since I received it in the mail. I am OBSESSED with its beauty. So much so, I am considering ordering another one, which would normally be unheard of since only the smallest amount is needed and a tube would last a lifetime. The other thing that I really like about this particular color and formula is that it still looks good, even hours after application. Nine hours after I’ve applied it, including indulging in food and drink, I can go on about my business and really don’t need to touch it up. It also has drawn compliments galore. I just can’t get enough of it. Now I REALLY want to see the other metallic lip tars.
