My new favorite tinted lip balm! Color changing lip products are pretty silly and gimmicky, but I love the way this looks on. It’s green in the tube, but is a beautiful, raspberry pink on the lip. The pigmentation of this product is sheer but buildable. It’s never going to deliver anything close to opaque coverage, but the color can become brighter and bolder with more swipes. And the color lingers as a stain on the lips long after the actual balm wears off. I think the balm lasts around 2 hours, while the stain lasts for 6-7 hours. This lippie is also quite lovely used on the cheeks like a gel blush. It gives a really natural sheer pink flush to the skin.
Kiss the Frog isn’t as moisturizing as a real treatment style lip balm, so don’t expect it to serve as one. It’s enough to keep your lips feeling nice and soft if they’re already in good shape, but it’s not enough to treat lips that are already chapped.
I’m pretty sure this product is supposed to be a knockoff of Lipstick Queen Frog Prince, but the colors they produce aren’t that close of a match. Frog Prince produces a warmer (though still neutral) and more muted shade of pink. I actually prefer the cooler, brighter, berry tones of Kiss the Frog.
My only real beef with this lip balm is with the packaging. The packaging is cheap and childish looking, which isn’t a huge issue with me given its price (only $3.50!), but I hate how brittle the plastic cap is. It’s prone to cracking even with just the normal wear and tear involved in rolling around in a makeup bag or purse. That’s not a deal breaker, but it is a pet peeve of mine. I’d rather have a product that’s a little more expensive but has sturdy/durable packaging than a dirt cheap product that has packaging that’s likely to break down before I finish using it up.
