Just getting it out there first, if you aren’t blessed with lips that never get dry or flaky, you’re going to need to use a lip scrub and a decent lip balm 20mins before applying. Otherwise this will cling to every tiny bit of dead skin, it’s not an on-the-go kind of product. It won’t apply well over a thick layer of balm either, so that’s why I put on lip balm beforehand and wipe most of it off just before using this.
That aside, I do genuinely like this and prefer it to the Airy Velvet line overall. It is thicker, more pigmented, and less forgiving with careless application, but also much more longwearing and more transfer-proof (5-6hr without eating). Although it’s less hydrating,it’s also not the most drying product out there either, despite its tendency to cling to flakes. It’s not exactly a tint, more of a tint-lipstick hybrid – it’s a thick, creamy matte liquid lipstick that dries to a powdery matte finish, but stains lips the same colour beneath it, so when the lipstick part inevitably comes off eating and drinking, it still looks nice and not patchy. Like most liquid lipsticks, it needs time to ‘set’ after applying to prevent transfer and smearing, around 5mins or so. During this time you can blend or sheer it out with a finger or do a gradient lip look with a lighter base colour and a darker inner colour. I like using #17 and #23 for that purpose, and #12 and #6.
Unfortunately, peripera seem to be incapable of releasing accurate official shade photos, so be sure to look on YT and blogs for swatches to help choose a shade if they aren’t sold in stores in your area. There are a lot of very similar shades too – I doubt anyone would need #5,#6 and #7, all dusky rose shades with only subtle differences. The bottle colours are supposed to reflect the actual shades within but these vary widely in accuracy. So – buyer beware! Provided you do your homework regarding shade selection, these are cheap with great lasting power, and have a lovely finish on well-prepped lips. I’m always tempted by new shade releases!

I`m surprised at the negative reviews here. Could it be that the color I got works better? I sometimes find that to be the case with some lipstick shades, where some colors are pigmented and gorgeous, while others are patchy messes. I don`t know. The shade I have is 05 Inktude Rose. It`s a blueish red, very pigmented with one swipe. I was amazed how light and comfortable the formula feels on my lips. I didn`t feel that this dried my lips and when the color eventually faded (though it lasted fairly well through a meal and drinks), it did so in an even way. I always apply this with a lip brush, and do several thin coats, perhaps this is why this lasted longer on me than the previous reviewers?! Anyway, one downside for me is that while the color lasts really well on the lips, I have a very small mouth and I like to overdraw my lips, and on the portion outside my lips this did fade a tad unevenly. I also tend to switch up my lipsticks, so I never wear this more than a day or two in a row. Perhaps this is the reason why my lips didn`t dry up. Even so, compared to other matte formulas (Revlon, Too Faced), the Peri`s Ink was incredibly comfortable to wear. I would repurchase again, though I would try to wear the other colors before purchasing, just in case the other colors have issues, like the reviews on here seem to suggest.

I have it in a few shades but the shade girlish red rly dried out my lips and gave me really painful chapped lips that i’ve never had and experienced with the other shAdes i got.

I bought 6 colours of this brand: 6,7,8,12,13 and 14 because the colours looked really pretty on pictures and when I saw the reviews. Although it is very very pigmented, it doesn’t stay on your lips. It’s really disappointing because the colours are so pretty. It also dried out my lips which was a big disappointment. I feel like I just wasted money on this. What I do so it will stay on is I put a different lipstick as a base (stila all day lipstick) then use it as colour accent and it actually works! it’s give a really pretty combination because of how pigmented it is! but on it’s own, it doesn’t work for me.
Will not recommend. will not buy again. EVER.

I’m quite disappointed by this because it’s so hyped up online. Had this been a blind purchase I would find this okay, I suppose. And “okay, I suppose” isn’t bad since it’s workable, it’s just that I’d rather my collection be about quality over quantity.
I have this in #6 Celeb Deep Rose.
So everything I’ve read about the Ink Velvets has been overwhelmingly positive, especially for this colour. They’re claimed to be ultra long lasting even through food, fade evenly, leave no transfer, wear comfortably and leave your lips soft. I had high hopes for a stain version of Rimmel Apocalips (Make Your Move is the longest lasting lip product I’ve ever used) but non-crumbly with a nice finish.
My experience with #6 is that it wears off unevenly, and the colour varies significantly. For reference, I’m an NC15 – NC20 with strong yellow tones. Online photos show it to be a pinky rose. When applied straight, it is an orangey brownish red on me. After blotting, it turns either a gorgeous shade of peachy rose that brightens up my face, a red so bright that others comment on it, or fuchsia. If I take a photo of it, no matter what colour it pulled in person, it shows up as the same berry pink on my phone. This is in both natural and artifical yellow light. The nice thing though is that the photo colour looks gorgeous, even if it isn’t what I wanted. I do not use filters or have any beauty modes enabled on my phone. This affects both the front and rear cameras on my Xperia XZ.
Today I had it pull bright red on me, and only four hours later it has faded badly. Now the edges are straight orange and the middle is hot pink. It looks reeeeally bad and unflattering, like I was intentionally messing around with kids make up.
It fades from the middle of my mouth within a few hours even if I don’t eat. It lasts through drinking without any transfer whatsoever (which is impressive because I hate lipstick rims) but definitely not food, unless it’s non-oily and I use a fork and eat it with my teeth sticking out like a horse. You will need to reapply after eating. If you do eat, it turns hot pink in places.
I also find it fairly drying. It’s a stain so it’s not like it crumbles or anything, but it definitely exacerbates my lip wrinkles and because the stain doesn’t have a “finish” that could smooth it out or be blamed, the wrinkles just look really bad especially since the colour sometimes pulls neon and begs everyone to look at your mouth. I get that long lasting products are always going to be drying, but it sucks that it dries out all of your whole lips while fading unevenly in patches. At least it’s a stain so it reapplies easily, which is something you can’t always do with liquid lipsticks.
It is very long lasting to the parts it sticks to, which is actually a bad thing. For instance, I had it be rose one day. Six hours later, it turned hot pink and left me a lip line and a second horizontal stripe going across the middle of my bottom lip (I have full lips). Looked really bad. I tried to wash it off and couldn’t. I had to over exfoliate my lips twice just to get it off enough to be able to put another colour on top the next day to hide the residue.
I’m not going to repurchase this because I like my purchases to be planned and quite frankly, I can’t plan for whatever colour this is going to turn on me. I also don’t want yesterdays colour to be todays left over residue. I find that although every colour it pulls on me is very flattering, I don’t think it is worth the hassle of trying to get the remaining patches off at the end of the day. This has left my lips in worse condition than before I bought it due to the drying and the effort required to get the patches off (and most days I don’t even wash it off before bed because it’s so damaging to get it off).
I will continue to use this for days when I want to snack on less junk food, since I can still drink with it without worrying about transfer.
