I own any number of lip balms – high end and low end (but mostly high end). I’ve bought lip balms from fancy shops like Sephora and Petit Vour and gotten them as gifts from my sister who is also a big fan of high-end makeup and skincare. This lip balm beats them all and I bought it at a small grocery store in a tiny town in the middle of South India for 20 rupees (about 28 cents US). I was in the middle of a work trip where my lips were badly burned from the sun, dry air and hot food, and picked this up because I like the Himalaya brand. I wasn’t expecting much but this worked wonders on my chapped lips. Most lip balms dry out my lips rather than actually help (which is why I probably own so many fancy lip balms!) but this actually works to sooth and heal my lips and feels extremely nourishing going on. It comes in a tube and has a Vaseline type consistency but is made with ingredients like castor oil, wheatgerm oil and carrot seed oil. Because of the tube packaging it does not melt in hot weather. I’ve bought three more of these over the last year and though I still love all my fancy lip balms, this is my go-to when my lips are actually chapped and dry and need long-term relief. I don’t really buy lip balm anymore (though I still get them as samples, gifts and in beauty boxes) – this is my HG lip balm!
