I’m a NUT about lip balm. My lips are constantly dry and I hate having to constantly reapply, and detest the glossy, shiney greasy lip look. Have a zip lock bag full of chapticks and lip balm that I’ve tried that just don’t “do it”. This is my holy Grail lip balm. Yes, it’s $20, which is up there however, I’m still on my first tube 8+months later, a little goes a long way, don’t let the price deter you. Goes on smooth, consistency a bit thick but thins out as you spread over lips with finger. Matte finish, not shiney (yay!), lasts quite a while and I don’t have to reapply often at all. Doesn’t feel sticky or thick. Perfect barrier/layer of moisture to apply before lipstick, stains or glosses. My lips suffer during winter months (northeast) but not with this! You can return for full refund/exchanges at Sephora, please try this, you will not regret it! My lips have nerve been so smooth and soft!

I hate this stuff. 🙁 It feels like straight-up beeswax going on my lips, and it’s also weirdly gritty. If my lips are super-chapped, which is often because the MN winter is torture, it actually hurts to apply this product, because it tugs and feels dry. I could probably look past that if it moisturized or healed, but it doesn’t — when I apply it at night, it just sits on my lips and I have to wipe it off in the morning. It’s too thick and doesn’t do anything for me. I hate to throw nearly-full products away, especially one that cost $20, so I’ll try to use this up as a cuticle cream, but never again on my lips.

I have very dry lips and I mainly use this at night before I got bed.
The lip balm is very moisturizing and feels great on but it is very thick. If you apply too much, you will definitely get some build up. I wake up with moisturized lips which is great!

I have chronically dry lips that are peeling all year round, no matter the season, no matter where I am in the world. I also drink enough water every day to keep hydrated (around 1.6 L), so it’s not a dehydration issue. I’ve tried so many different lip balms under the sun, desperate to find a cure only to come to terms with the fact that perhaps there is no cure at all.
However, this is the best lip balm out of all the ones I’ve tried (in terms of how well it works). It is thick and balmy but not sticky, plus it lasts a decent amount of time on the lips unless I eat something (around 1.5 hours). It makes my lips plump, hydrated and soft. The smell is reminiscent of Tiger Balm (lol) with a hint of artificial mint, which isn’t pleasant but is not unpleasant either.
There are only two cons. First is the unsanitary and inconvenient packaging. Why oh why does this have to be a jar? The balm itself is solid enough to be put into a squeezy tube or a chapstick twisty tube and it should work completely fine. Yet, First Aid Beauty doesn’t do that. Whenever I want to use this I have to make sure my hands are clean and it is such a hassle. I can’t constantly wash my hands when I am out and about!
The second con is the weird white goop that forms in the corner of my mouth if I overapply this lip balm. It doesn’t happen to me with any other lip balm, just this one, and it is so gross. It is such a hassle to check my lips throughout the day for any white goop. I have no idea what ingredient causes this, but I’ve decided that I can only use this lip balm when I am at home.
Just because of those two cons I am constantly looking out for another lip balm that will outperform this one, but overall it is a pretty good lip balm that I’m pretty sure I will keep repurchasing.
edit: I am pretty sure I’ve found some lip balms that work better than this one, without causing any white gunk to form. Check out Jack Black’s Moisture Therapy Lip Balm or Farmacy’s Honey Butter Beeswax Lip Balm.
Also, I’ve found out that if my lips are really chapped and I apply a thick layer of this lip balm before bed, in the morning all the peeling dead skin become so easy to slough off.
