this is the only lip care product i finished completely. I have extremely dry lip but i am not into sticky lip balms. I chose the cream over lip balm, because i hoped it would moisturise my lip and around the mouth too. I have noticed dry lips end up forming wrinkles around. Lip balms and vaseline are too shiny and oily to spread on the skin, so cream type was so much better option for me. It did not form any zits or sores or pimples around the lip. The smell is quite strong but it does not bother me. My husband used to hate when i kiss him after applying a lip balm, but now he actually likes the smell and loves to kiss my lip because it is not sticky. Expensive, unusual but worth it.

Sinks into the lips completely and leaves no lasting effects whatsoever. I still felt the need to apply something thicker on top because this just wasn’t doing it. The smell of this is too intense, i can taste it in my mouth and the fragrance is so strong, smells very herbal/lemon to me. I think that Eucerin lip treatment in the little pot is a much better, much cheaper dupe with the same texture but much more hydrating and no offensive smell.

I see lots of mixed reviews here! I actually love this product. This is not a lip balm… it’s a treatment or a “lotion” for your lips. I read that some individuals have the need to reapply because they don’t feel anything on their lips.
For people who are uncomfortable with the texture/feeling of lip balms (like me), THIS IS FOR YOU. I’m obligated to care for my lips because I wear drying liquid lipsticks and my lips are chapped in general. This product has wowed me and made a difference…
My PROS:
– instantly moisturizes
– absorbs quickly
– little goes a long way
– chapped lips improve…with consistent use.
– good base for lipsticks (especially liquid ones!)
– cute size
– excellent for an overnight lip treatment
My CONS
– $21 CAD (I know it’s cute and tiny…but NO.)
– scent. (I have mixed feelings about that earthy, herbal scent.)
– product already oozes out once I open it.. it’s not like I squeezed the tube!
– slides when you drink something (it does coat your lips like any lip treatment/balm)
I would repurchase. Definitely expensive for its size…but for what’s it is doing for me, it is worth it. Since a little goes a long way, I don’t think I have to worry about buying another one for the meantime.
Hope this is helpful 🙂

For price I give it 3 lippies cos it’s expensive but you hardly use any. For packaging I give it 3 lippies – it’s a thin cream and in classic Aesop form is in a metal tube, which is the aesthetic Aesop likes and also keeps the ingredients preserved. It’s simple and relatively effective but you gotta put the lid on straight away as others have said.
My overall rating is 3. This has been on Aesop’s shelves for many years and I’d forgotten about it until my hubby got it free in a goodie bag. I’ve been using it and now like it. I had a tube years and years ago and never used it because i like licking my lips and this tastes awful for a lip product. Also I used to love gloss.
Cut to 2016 and matte lips are all the rage = no licking, and need a matte hydrating base. Enter this lip treatment. It’s matte, not like a balm, yet hydrating. I applied heavily this morning and 2 hrs later my lips still felt soft and plump! By also matte.
This treatment makes the perfect base for a matte lipstick, and I am only wearing those now.
It won’t affect the performance of your liquid lipstick but makes a perfect base!
I can’t increase the rating until they somehow make it tastier, or more lip product appro. Rose and cream are just not flavours I want on my lips!
Ps I should clarify the one I have is the tube – rose hip topherol ylang ylang

Unlike other reviewers, I actually don’t mind the packaging or the texture. The cream does squirt out until you put the top back on, but there’s so much in there I don’t really care. What does bother me, however, is that one of the first ingredients in this is alcohol. Ugh. Please stop putting alcohol in hydrating treatments! My fault though, I should have looked before I bought this $16, microscopic tube. Honestly, sorry to go on a rant, but I hate all this “natural/organic” marketing if they’re just going to put alcohol in it. I still have it, and use it, but only because I spent $16 on it. I think in the end the rosehip seed and alcohol cancel each other out because I feel no difference at all. When my lips were really, really chapped I think this made it worse. Again, I still use this before putting make up just on principal, but I would love to suggest my new favorite combo, as someone with the dryest lips you’ll ever see: homeoplasmine in the morning and pure argan oil at night. My lips are doing amazingly well on that and where I am, the weather has been horribly cold and dry. Spend your money there, and not on this.

Aesop is one of my favourite brand. I’ve used countless products from them and this one is worst of the worst.
Texture is like between cream and lotion. Scent was pleasant like blend of different essential oils. However it does nothing to my lips. It dries out so quickly on my lips like within 15 minutes. I would need to re-apply over and over again until I just gave up this little thing. Secondly, I feel like it gets into my mouth and could taste it. It was just a waste of money and effort.

Bought this at a local retail shop – $15AUD later…..
Every time you open it, it just oozes out without even pushing it… have to race to put the lid back on.
Smells very plant like – definitely no artificial smells thats for sure, however, it is not too bad.
Apply to lips and it is cream like, take a little while to rub in, about 5 minutes later you will feel a tingling sensation!
Sadly I do not feel like my lips benefit from this product at all…. they do not feel moisturised afterwards but left wanting some other product to cure my dry lips.
I do not feel like it is even a long term result product either… just have not got anything out of this product.
Will be spending my $15 elsewhere.

This is one of the worst deals of my life. I wanted to try a new lip balm and the SA recommended this brand unknown to me. The package looked fine, nothing too fancy and she let me try a little product which smelled nice. It seemed not too sticky and greasy and I bought it
Unfortunately, it does absolutely nothing for my lips. Now that I got used to it, it smells more like a medical pomade than a cosmetic, it looks yellowish and disappear into the skin leaving a slightly burning feeling. After half hour I must reapply as the product has vanished.
I guess it has a strong alcohol content and since I have been using it, my lips are actually drier. Would never ever buy again and will throw it away, sorry to have spent far too much money for such a low quality.

I was recommended this and the tuberose lip heal by the sales associate but I have very sensitive lips. They tend to get irritated by many products, so when she told me this was natural ingredients and very moisturizing, I wanted to give it a try. I should’ve read the reviews before buying..first thing is that the packaging is horrible. It’s in a tube that, no matter what you do, the product keeps squirting out resulting in wasting a lot of the product. It’s also pretty expensive for the size. It is definitely not moisturizing either. It’s basically a cream for your lips that seems to make it drier than before applying it. I also could not get over the scent/taste. I don’t lick my lips to try it, but the scent is so overwhelming, but then I’m not big on overly floral/herbal scents. While it didn’t irritate my lips, it didn’t really do anything in terms of moisturizing either. Will definitely not buy again.

I bought this a little while ago now (as you can see in my picture, it’s gotten a lot of love!) and it seems there is a huge love-hate relationship with Aesop’s Rosehip Seed Lip Cream.
Let’s start with the positives. This really does what is says: it will hydrate your lips and will soften them- and it smells nice :D. I find that this product is perfect to use just before applying lip liners/lipsticks/plumpers/stains etc because it almost acts as a ‘shield’ against drying lip products (ie matte lippies) and also before you go to bed. Now onto how much you apply- this is an important note: a little (and I mean a *very* little amount) of this product goes a long way; if you use too much of this, it will feel icky on your lips. Your lips might feel a little ‘dry’ (as in not a glossy feeling- if that makes sense!) after application- the reason for this is this isn’t meant to ‘stick around’ on your lips; this product will melt into them and nourish them. The lady who sold me this told me that you shouldn’t be constantly reapplying this, or really any other lip product because that will actually cause your lips to start to dry out (I tested this theory out for a week of constantly applying glosses and lipsticks more than I needed to and she was right, my lips were much more prone to drying and feeling icky).
The negative of this product -the packaging- really does let down how good the lip cream is 🙁 It is in a little metal tube format and I find that (especially in warmer weather), when you open the cap, this will pour out, giving you way too much product and wasting it. So you have to work quickly when you open it 😉 I also find that if you take the little product you need and apply pressure to the tip with your finger and close it, this helps the product not spill out. Also, I find if you refrigerate this for a small amount of time that will stop the product wastage- but really the whole process is a little impractical and not to mention annoying 😛
Will I buy this product again? Yes because the product itself is amazing, but it would be good if they modified the packaging.
