I am reviewing the Tinted version in the Berry color.
I love a good lip balm and this one I gets a solid B for moisturizing factors and working well with my very sensitive lips.
This is the highest SPF tinted lip product I have come across so far; for that reason my grade bumps up to an A-
But this product is not inexpensive, my grade goes down to a B+
The packaging of very good, the product is housed in a metal tube with a rubberized cover that snaps shut with a satisfying click. I imagine the rubberized cover will get dirty over time but o really it feels better than a drugstore plastic tube.
Like most *good* tinted lip balms, meaning the ones that don’t dry out your lips, this requires frequent application.

My daughter has been using this lip balm and swears by it and so she put a tube, in the shade Simply Rose, in my Christmas stocking. I have very chapped lips, a situation exacerbated by my habit of picking them when they get dry. I’ve used this 3 times since yesterday and I am loving it. I find it very hydrating and effective and I also find it lasts really well. The colour is a nice added bonus, as is the SPF. I like that this is a thicker stick that is quick and easy to apply and not so prone to breakage as the ones from Fresh (I’ve had a few of those and they always end up falling right out of the tube, ending up in the lid). I will absolutely repurchase this balm – it will be a real standby in the cold, harsh winter months, for sure!

I don’t find this hydrating enough. The tint is nice (I have a pinky version) but as a lip balm it doesn’t deliver. Disappointing, especially since it was so expensive.

The untinted one comes either with or without sunscreen. I like having the option of getting it without it as I wear the untinted one at night so sunscreen is unnecessary. The texture is good, the container is sturdy, and it has coconut butter & lemon oil so if you catch a taste it isn’t bad. This keeps my lips from cracking in the winter. I wear it in Simply Rose on minimal makeup days and it really livens up my face. I’ve repurchased several times.

I thought this would be a more stiff and less likely to melt version of the Fresh lip treatments but it’s unfortunately not. I bought this is “naturally nude” which is a very flattering colour that leans more orange than pink, which I prefer. I just find this so drying and adds just the tiniest bit of moisture which isn’t even worth my time or money. This dries slightly matte which makes sense because that’s what it feels like. Not a treatment but a matte lipstick.

I have naturally nude & much prefer this product to fresh. It’s not as soft & oily, so less product gets wasted & it doesn’t break or squish. I also like that it’s not as lemony. It is less pigmented, but for me that’s a huge bonus, as I don’t always want my lips looking totally overdone.

I waited to buy until I got a good discount with purchase because I think $19 is too much for lip balm. However, I love tinted lip balms for quick no-mirror-needed application while at work and I really wanted to try this one. I have in the berry shade, which is very nice. Hydrates for a few hours but then need to reapply. Packaging is very substantial, so surviving well in my jumbled purse. Not sure if I would buy again, as I’ve found similar workable products for less.

I cannot compare this lip balm to the Fresh’s one but I’m very impressed with the packaging (a sturdy screw on metal tube with some kind of rubberised matte finish) and formula. It contains sunscreens (spf 25) although not ones that I like most (Octocrylene and Ethylexyl Methoxycinnamate) but given that you will reapply several times a day it should work fine. It also does not seem to make my lips peel.
I have a coloured version (Naturally Nude) which is quite a deep, mauvey rosy brown colour. With a continuous swiping it quickly becomes quite prominent of the lips and is pigmented enough to be used as a cheek colour as well. It is quite similar to my Marc Jacobs’ New Nudes Seer Lip gel in 150 Eat Cake but unlike Marc’s lipstick contains no perceivable fragrance. The finish is satiny matte which i quite like and the colour holds well (Marc’s lip is shinier). I might get another one in a more rosy/red version for winter.
Talking of getting another one – for your own’s sake, please DO NOT get it from Kiehl’s Edinburgh store in George Street. The worst customer service by a mile.
It is quite a pricy product (£20) and on line Kiehl’s is very good with samples. I dropped quite a lot of cash with this shop and when I asked for a sample (I was interested in their moisturising products for face) I was harshly informed that there aren’t any available. Ok, I get that, shops do run out but NO SAMPLES available, ZERO of any other products they can offer. I should not be really ASKING for this as a paying customer! And the shop assistant just SHRUGGED. Honestly, I was ready to ask for my money back and return the products. So no more business from me, Kiehl’s Edinburgh, especially that it is not the first time (you can read my reviews of their other products bought in that same shop).

Obviously you think this is a dupe for FRESH sugar lip balms but for me it is not, except for the packaging.
FRESH balms last much longer whereas Kiehl’s version has short staying power.
Texture is similar but FRESH balms are a bit more greasy and thicker, i can swipe the kiehl’s one several times without piling too much product on my lips.
FRESH balms are more pigmented. I have the naturally nude shade which is pinker and less pigmented than Fresh honey and I also have simply rose (similar to Fresh rose) and touch of berry.
Packaging is identical to FRESH version and they both nourish lips pretty well.
Kiehl’s version is cheaper but overall i prefer FRESH version.

This is extremely similar to everyone’s favorite, Sugar by Fresh Lip Treatment. The taste is different, and it’s two bucks less expensive, but the tube and the product are almost indistinguishable. Butterstick is perhaps a bit less oily and shiny.
I will switch over to this permanently, but only because I can get it at Bloomingdale’s and rack up the points.
EDIT: After using it for a few months it started to make me break out right along my lip line. I’m back to using Sugar by Fresh, having learned my lesson.
