I get why people think this is overhyped but honestly I don’t think it’s dupe-able. It’s a really good product if you’re like me and don’t like how lipstick looks on you but always wear lip balm. I don’t like overly shiny or tacky finishes on my lips and this is nice, it just has a slight subtle sheen. I enjoy the tinted one, I have rose and blackberry. The rose tint is pretty much imperceptible and the blackberry is just a wash of color so it’s not over the top for me. The blackberry one smells like jam which is cool. I have tried smith’s rosebud balm and it’s not comparable as that is literally just Vaseline with a tint and it’s much shinier and stickier. I’ve tried aquaphor or Vaseline on their own and I don’t really enjoy them. In fact both of them seem to dry my lips out unless I layer them over a hydrating serum or another lip balm. These are great and don’t dry out my lips like a lot of lip balms. They’re not too shiny or sticky or heavy like pure Vaseline or lanolin.
The closest product I have found is Luca’s pawpaw ointment but somehow it started smelling awful after a few months so I don’t plan on buying another one as that makes me think it probably has inadequate preservatives.
I really like to use these layered with a very sheer layer of lipstick to make it look more like a stain. They seem to layer well with other lip products.
I also have the shade birthday cake and it’s a lot more shimmery than I expected which feels a little too much for daytime so I tend to use it only at night and I mix it with another one of them.

I resisted buying this for three years while using other Glossier products every day… I just couldn’t see how a balm in a tube with petrolatum as the first ingredient could be worth the price. But on Black Friday I ordered the discounted skincare set that includes the balm, and ughhh yes it’s better than any other lip balm I know of.
The best thing about the balm is that it somehow sinks in and stays on my lips longer than anything I’ve tried before, without feeling greasy like vaseline. I got the “berry” version, which has a perfect sheer purple tint on my lips, naturally a medium pink. I know I’ll be using this all the time. At $12 a pop it may not be THAT much better than a $3 balm, but having to apply less often + the makeup factor will probably make it worthwhile for me to repurchase. There’s also a pretty generous amount, so that shouldn’t be for a while.

Balm Dotcom is amazing and a must have! My lips have never been better. When I run out of this product I always need to buy a new one. My boyfriend even uses my balm dotcom and loves it. I definitely recommend purchasing this. It’s the best chapstick ever.

I bought a 3 pack of Balm Dotcoms: Cherry, Rose, Birthday
Cherry: Nice tint that transfers subtly to lips; smells like cough drops (which I don’t mind, though it may be off-putting for some); hydrating formulation. This is my favorite for everyday wear since it accentuates my natural lip color.
Rose: The tint is nice straight from the tube however disappears on my lips; rose scent is subtle; very hydrating (I wear this overnight and my lips are plump and super hydrated in the AM).
Birthday: Smells like cheap vanilla and the taste is horrible… it strangely makes me super thirsty? It’s a shame because the shimmer is subtle and pretty but this flavor misses the mark for me.
Overall, the Cherry and Rose are nice and I may repurchase though the price is pretty ridiculous. I will not repurchase Birthday. Vaseline’s Rose little pot/tub has a superior tint to the Rose BDC but I prefer the tube packaging of the BDCs. The BDC consistency is super viscous and difficult to squeeze out of the tube but more sanitary than the Vaseline tubs/pots.

I love Glossier’s products because they are so easy, fairly priced, and they happen to be what I look for in makeup. Aside from my personal tastes though, I do think Glossier has a few products that are truly outstanding, and they’re like nothing else I’ve ever tried. Balm Dotcom is one of those unique products. Yes, it is a balm like CeraVe Heal and Protect, or The Honest Company All-Purpose Balm, or Kiehl’s Cica Balm…or even Aquaphor…but it’s much more pleasant to use than those. Balm Dotcom stays where I put it. It never melts all over my face and teeth, and it doesn’t sit on top of my skin in a layer of unabsorbable grease. It’s great as an under-eye cream, for cuticles, dry spots on hands and feet…anywhere. I use the flavored Balm Dotcom’s for my lips. Cherry is the best stuff ever, because not only does it keep my lips in perfect condition, it is the prettiest my- lips-but-better red color I’ve ever found. Seriously, I’ve been searching my whole life for this color. Cherries are my favorite fruit so I adore the fresh, sweet cherry scent. My 11 year old daughter loves Birthday (I do too). Balm Dotcom stays on my lips all night long. I can still feel the moisture in the morning, and even Aquaphor doesn’t do that. I buy a bunch of these at once and have them everywhere. When I garden or do art, they are by my side. Balm dotcom even soothes bug bites and helps keep me from scratching to scars.

I wrote a review for the MINT balmdotcom before and I didn’t like that one. I recently purchased the CHERRY, MANGO and BERRY balmdotcom.
CHERRY-
Has a strong fragrance, smells like twizzlers, Dr. Pepper, and/or cherry Starburst candy. Has a reddish tint to it, which gives you a cute summer time, popsicle color lip. I didn’t expect to like cherry but I really like it even though the fragrance is quite strong. The scent will wear off in about 3-4 hours.
MANGO-
Has a cute mango scent to it. It smells like the Mango Hi Chew candies or mango gummies. It has a slight peachy tint but not crazy noticeable like cherry or berry. Scent isn’t as strong as the cherry.
BERRY-
Has a yummy berry fragrance, smells like a grape popsicle. Has a purple-berry like tint to it that gives you a cute, moisturizing tinted lip. Scent isn’t as strong as the cherry. Initially, I thought this would be way too dark of a tint, but its perfect!
These are nothing like the MINT balmdotcom that I purchased previously. Cherry, mango and berry are so much more moisturizing and yummy. As soon as I apply, it feels like its moisturizing my lips instead of lingering on top of the lips. Also, cherry and berry are so cute alone or with a lip gloss on top of it. I’ve been applying cherry with UD Lip Junkie lip gloss in Midnight Cowboy on top.
I highly recommend cherry or berry to anyone that’s looking for a nice tinted, moisturizing balm. It just looks so natural on the lips.

I tried this in
ROSE, this reminded me of a softer scent of Smiths Rose Salve. which i am not too fond of. I was hoping for a different rose scent. this isnt my favorite. Its a little harder in texture than Cherry, its hard to push out. I wouldnt repurchase this
CHERRY- The smell reminds me of Cherry lollipop! its a bit medicinal but the color of this is pretty. this gives your lips a pinky red tint that looks really natural. its quite strong at first like the scent but it does fade into a more wearable color and also the smell wears off a little too. i dont care for it as much as i thought i wouldnt repurchase because i dont like the smell
COCONUT, this is untinted and my favorite scent out of the 3, it smells like coconut macarons and so delicious. I can see myself using this as a cuticle cream or on dry elbows or knees. It smells like the beach and sort of like sunscreen. I know that sounds weird but i always was fond of that smell. If you like coconut scents then you cant go wrong with this. I really enjoy this one. Its also a little harder in texture than Cherry but it melts when you rub it into the lips. It feels more satisfying than Rose because it feels like real Coconuts melting on the lips.
perfomance wise, they coat the lips nicely while not being glossy. It does reminds me of Lucas Papaw Ointment a bit. It doesnt feel heavy but i def feel a little somethin somethin on the lips. I will probably only repuchase the coconut one only because i love the smell and the tint on the Cherry is really pretty. I dont have to reapply as often with these as my other lip balms and i am impressed., the rose one is kind of meh. Also i hate that you have to use your fingers to apply this. i hate the packaging… i hope they change it I do want to try the Mango one though.
Edit- ventured out to try more and found Fresh Sugar makes a Coconut lip balm in the pot but its expensive and you dont get much product- i go through it so fast. I still like my good ol Nivea Lip Care better- its cheaper- no weird taste and smells better. I love the Strawberry or Vanilla Buttercream ones. I wont be repurchasing this because of the packaging and i got tired of the smell, its a little too strong and play doughy. Taste bad too. Good matte weightless balm but i cant get pass the negatives. I use this Glossier one for my cuticles now

Do I have one hundred lip balms? Yes. Did I need another lip balm? No. Are my lips generally chapped? No! Why did I buy this? The way it make me feel like a cute, fun, effortless, carefree “it” girl every time I pull it out. All confessions aside, I would say it is a DECENT lip balm, by no means intensive but enough to keep my lips comfortable when I am in need. I like that the amount they give you is generous, and for the clear ones I own, they work wonderfully as a cuticle balm, and even to put on my elbows. The birthday balm also works nicely as a subtle highlight. The only tinted one I own, the Cherry one, and it leaves a nice, barely there tint that only you would recognize on your own lips. If you are unsure if you will like, I would recommend getting a clear one so that you can utilize it otherwise if you don’t like on your lips. I also found that the coloured one feels more waxy when compared to my clear ones. Overall, these are definitely Lip Smackers for adults in my eyes, cute, collectable, but there are superior ones out there.

I had really high hopes for this, given that I adore Aquaphor but wanted something portable, cute and less greasy looking. Unfortunately, it just didn’t do it for me at all. I got the rose one and it smells incredible. There really isn’t much to any pigment at all (which is fine, just don’t expect colour payoff). The appearance is quite matte, which is really nice for a lip balm! I am currently on Accutane so my lips are very dry, so my experience may not be representative. That being said, so many standard lip balms work for me for the day time (Burt’s Bees, Blistex, etc).
I read that people were calling this expensive Vaseline and I was very skeptical. As I said, I adore Aquaphor and the ingredients with the balm dot com are quite similar. However, the textures are completely different. There must be a much higher ratio of petrolatum in the bomb dot com because it is very stiff and almost hard to get out of the tube. Although, given it is a squeeze tube, the harder texture makes it a lot less messy to apply with fingers!
It really does feel a lot like Vaseline (which is not a hydrator but will create a barrier to keep hydration in). I definitely don’t find it to be a very potent hydrator. For lips as dry as mine, I need something with more hydration power (a barrier will only lock in moisture if you have any to begin with). The staying power is low to medium so after an hour, I feel just as dry…if not almost worse. That being said, I will continue to use it after my treatment and perhaps I will enjoy it more!
Overall, fantastic scent and nice, subtle appearance. I will finish it, but I definitely would not repurchase given the price and the small tube. Is it fancy Vaseline? It sort of feels that way to me… I wish there was a higher proportion of emollient ingredients in the product. I was hoping to have more of an Aquaphor hydration level with a more convenient texture and scent.
EDIT: This product has improved with warmer weather. I live in a very (very) cold climate and the texture of the product seems to have improved a lot as temperatures have risen (despite being kept indoors all the time). It feels like it’s less stiff and dry and more moisturizing. That being said, the tube is tiny for the price so I still can’t say I’d repurchase but it’s much better…so maybe cause the rose scent is just so nice.

I would repurchase this lip balm, it works great for my dry lips. However, at the same time, it is not the most potent lip care product I have ever tried (like Bite Agave or Laneige Lip Mask), so I purely enjoy it during the day time when I crave a nice comforting feel.
I am loving the brand’s Birthday Balm Dotcom version. It has a bit of shimmer in it, barely detectable, yet oh so delicious. It smells just like your favourite vanilla cupcake. Little goes a long way, so one tube is going to last you ages!
I have a detailed review on this and many other Glossier bestsellers here (, hope it helps those of you interested in the brand!
