I received this gratis from Sephora because they read my negative review of the new Agave+ lip balm (I was a huge fan of the original Agave lip balm and lip mask and went through several tubes a year). Unfortunately, this lip therapy isn’t as good as the original Agave lip balm or the lip mask with lanolin. It feels moisturizing initially, but doesn’t last and actually leaves my lips feeling drier and peeling when it’s worn off. I also don’t like the scent, it’s a cloying orangesicle scent, while the original agave lip balm and mask have a realistic vanilla scent. Unfortunately for Sephora, this gift won’t turn me into a fan of this lip treatment. I didn’t want to waste it so I ended up using it up as a foot balm.

In past I purchased Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip in the squeezy tube, and although I love the scent, taste, etc. of this product, it is expensive and so hard to get out of the packaging, it also didn’t do anything for my lips. But when I saw this one for “nighttime lip therapy” I thought I’d try again, and while it has the same delicious smell and taste as the one in the tube, it is more easily spread across the lips but still does nothing for my lips. Let me be clear, there is nothing wrong with this product per se, I just wouldn’t look for it to do much more than provide a barrier layer to the lips that will wear off fairly quickly, at least it does in my experience. The jar packaging is fine because they include a small spatula with it, but otherwise not my packaging of choice.

*EDIT* had to come back and give this a 1 star rating as I’ve been having a HORRIFIC allergic reaction to this product for the last week after using it for over a month. At first my lips were just dry and cracked but then they starting swelling hugely and randomly and then a ton of tiny gross bumps formed along the entire outer perimeter of my lips. I would highly recommend people STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT or at least discontinue use ASAP if it dries out your lips.
Bought this hoping for a cruelty free alternative to the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask which I adored. Sadly, the Bite one doesn’t measure up for me.
It’s not a bad product, but I don’t find it anywhere near as hydrating as the Laneige. The flavour of the Bite mask is really nice, the scent it nice but I find it a little goopy and thick. It doesn’t seem to sink into my lips, rather it sits on top. It’s difficult to transfer it from the jar to the spatula to my finger to my lip without getting goops of it all over each step of the way. It would probably work best as a sealant overtop another, more hydrating, lip balm but I’d rather just have a moisturizing lip mask that does the work.
Also it’s more expensive and contains less product than the Laneige so there’s that. But Bite is cruelty free and vegan. My search for the perfect lip mask continues!
