Knock on wood, I don’t have any allergies to the ingredients (seems many users did, to lanolin). The texture was alright for me too, I personally found it enjoyable since it was thick enough to moisturize, and sweet smelling/tasted nice.
The reddish tint adds a very pretty colour to your lips when you have this on, though it seems lots of people are not using it during the day since it’s too “thick”. I did however use it during the day, just sparingly, and found it helped a lot with the dry winter weather. The only downside is perhaps the price, but I have had mine for a good 8 months now, so I would say go for the splurge if you like thick tinted balms that taste sweet.

Oh, Bite Beauty. I love your ethical standpoint. I love that you’re Canadian. I loved the colours of your Amuse Bouche Lipsticks, but they smeared like gangbusters, and I always ended ups looking like a demented clown. I had hope for the Smashed Agave Mask. The colour was wonderful. The consistency was terrific. I actually liked the packaging. Everything was rosy for about a month. And then the dermatitis came.
Bad, nasty dermatitis. My lips swelled and cracked and blistered. Stopped using this and things have gotten better. Apparently this is a big problem with this product. (The Sephora website has a whole agony board dedicated to Bite Beauty Mask reactions.) My guess is its the lanolin (derived from sheep’s wool). If you’re a sheep or can otherwise tolerate lanolin and you want lovely full, lightly tinted lips, then fill your boots. Otherwise, do a patch test and tread carefully with this one.
EDIT: clarified the phrasing a bit.

This is my current favorite lip product. I’m a tinted lip balm junkie. I have so many. I rarely wear lipstick. I have a few glosses but that’s about it. The rest are tinted lip balms. Out of all of the tinted balms I own, this is my new favorite.
Smashed is described as a bright, candy apple red. This is pretty accurate, although my natural lip color causes this to turn a little more pink. It’s still beautiful though. The texture is quite thick and feels very moisturizing. This wears really well on me, considering it’s a tinted balm. I still have to reapply throughout the day, but it still lasts longer on me than the average balm. My favorite part about this product is how it makes my lips looks. It gives them a sheer, juicy color and makes my lips look healthy and plump.
Compared to the original agave lip mask, the texture of this is a bit thinner and it doesn’t last quite as long. This does have a slight taste at first, but I find that it disappears fairly quickly.
I have heard a few complaints about the packaging. I like the packaging, but my tube is still fairly new. I know some people will not like using their finger to apply this, but I have no problem with it. I just wipe off the excess on the back of my hand and you can barely tell. It sinks right in.
This is pricey. I paid $26 for my tube. I’m sure the product will last a long time, but it’s still expensive for a tinted lip balm. It’s totally worth it though. This is quickly becoming my favorite lip product in my stash. Highly recommend!

I had awful chapped lips. They would peel off and bleed. I’m very picky with what I put on them too. I don’t like anything waxy or too greasy or requires constant reapplying. I heard from a Sephora employee that this was by far the best product for chapped lips. My usual lip balms, Aquaphor or Zims crack cream for lips weren’t working 🙁 I was really skeptical and reluctant to try a $27 lip balm but I couldn’t stand the pain. I have to say it is very good. It’s thick so it stays on a long time. After 2 days my cracked lips have healed. The tube is hard to push but so far so good! Lips are soft again!

I purchased this in the clear shade because of continually parched and chipping lips.
I can’t imagine what all of the rave reviews are about.
I have used it off and on over the past three weeks with nothing to report. I smells nice and is an emollient. That is all – it neither moisturizes nor creates healed lips. Needs to be applied 30 minutes after applying. In addition, it is in a tube so using fingers is a necessity.

OMG I love this. I have worn it every single day since I purchased it. I bought this color and also Champagne. I wear the lighter one each night before I go to bed. My lips are so much softer, no more dry patches. I live in Denver and it is dry beyond belief here. I must consume large quantities of water or my lips are dry. This is great stuff, super color too. I use MAC lip pencil in Talking Points, it works for a super looking lip.

This is a very thick formula, but it feels great on because it’s so moisturizing. It also has a great taste, like a faint vanilla. It looks like a gloss-it’s a sheer red that works well with my skin and seems to last for hours. The price is a little much and the top always falls off, but other than that it’s a great product.

I am currently on my third tube of this stuff. I have relatively thick lips that get chapped with the dry weather or if I’m not drinking enough. I was recommended this my a lady at Sephora as I was looking for something moisturising for the lips as well as with some colour as my lips tend to look a bit ‘pale’ – I didn’t want a lipstick as I haven’t found a formula as moisturising as a balm yet and my lips tend to flake up on the worst of days!
This product is smooth, not sticky and really just soothes my lips (esp when they’re dry). It is a thick formula but smooths over the lips very well and I think as another user has mentioned, feels like it ‘sinks in’ to relieve my lips. The colour is a really nice red that provides a pop of colour but still looks natural on my lips – almost a little more than a natural flush. Also it smells very pleasant, but not really noticeable. In terms of lasting power, I would say it comes off when I eat, otherwise it is quite long lasting.
The only con would be I’m clumsy and I have dropped and then lost the lid a few times upon application which is annoying when you have a lot of product still to go. The product lasts for a really long time I find as you don’t need much of it when you apply. One tube lasts me for about 3-4 months (I don’t use it at night and re-apply frequently throughout the day).

Ok I love this stuff. I love how thick and balmy it is, how it just sinks in and really treats your lips, not just sits on top. I purchased Smashed (sheer red) because I wanted something with a bit of tint—but I have tried all 3 of them and love them all. They ARE pricy for a balm, but a little goes a long way. The packaging is cute (like a paint tube) but I wish that there was a different way to apply the product. I used my tube through the entire weekend of Comicon and it gave me a hint of tint on my lips while I waited in long lines to meet awesome famous people and I DIDN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LIPSTICK ON MY TEETH. LOL. I love how it smells, too. Great stuff. Will repurchase in all shades.
