I finally decided to delve into the world of lipliners, and after using this one feel like I’ve been missing out for not using them sooner! I bought this one in Dolly Danger, a rather neutral mauve that’s a little darker than what I would consider MLBB. It’s fairly pigmented and glides on smoothly, so I haven’t had any issues of it making my lips look dry when I fill in my entire lip area with it. Its lasting power is very good, and lipsticks that usually fade quickly do seem to last longer when used with it. I like the color enough on my skin tone (NW20) that occasionally I just use it with some clear gloss on top. I like the brush at the end to smooth the finished product so that a line isn’t so obvious. I don’t see plumping effect, but then again I never have with Buxom products. I don’t mind because that’s not what I’m needing it for, but if that’s important to you this may not be the best product. Overall I found this to be an easy introduction to lipliners, the price isn’t outrageous, and I would definitely buy it again.

I have several of these Plumpline Lip Liners from Buxom and I think they’re fantastic! They’re dual purpose, thin enough to give you a precise line around your lips yet chubby enough to fill in your lips with ease. I actually like the brush on the other end too, I use it to sheer out the lip liner color or to apply lipgloss on top.
The color selection is good, but not GREAT. Quite a few of the shades are just, not quite right. I’m not sure how else to phrase it, they’re either too pastel, too pale or too bright. One example, I LOVE Buxom’s Full On Lip Cream in White Russian and it would be nice if the Plumpline lip liner in White Russian was as flattering but it’s this weird band-aid pinkish beige color. Ransom isn’t good, neither is Confidential or Intrigue in my opinion. I’d recommend trying before you buy! Online swatches can be very deceiving at the best of times and especially so in the case of these lipliners.
That being said, many of the colors are beautiful! My favorite is Mystery, a gorgeous berry shade that pairs with Buxom’s Full On Lip Polish in Hannah perfectly! I also love Stakeout, a lovely deep vampy blackberry shade that goes with my Lorac Alter Ego lip gloss in Dominatrix like they were made for each other. Hush Hush, Incognito and Stealth are all gorgeous nude shades with depth and I also think Covert Affair is really pretty too.
Overall, I really like these! I wouldn’t say they have much of a plumping effect, but they are easy to apply and last reasonably well. LOVE!!!!

I have this in Hush Hush and Ransom. Hush Hush is a warm reddish tan color ( cinnamon). I like how smoothly this applies to the lip area. Has average staying power as any other lip liner I have used. The attatched lip brush is an interesting feature, although don’t think I would ever use it. The other color I have this in is Ransom. Ransom was listed as a pink nude, however, I found it to be a bright peachy tan that is horrid and totally unusable for me. Also, Ransom is a dryer consistency than Hush Hush and highlighted my vertical lip lines.

I got this as a freebie from Macys.com so I can’t complain. It’s a mini of Hush Hush which is an awesome color the perf MLBB color. I prefer pencils I don’t have to sharpen but at least you can get a sharp point. #winning

If you are one of the many women who have started wearing lip liner as your all over lip color, you will find this new product appealing. At $17 per pop, it may seem expensive for a lip pencil. However, MAC’s traditional pencils now run $17 I think and it would take far more effort to fill in your whole mouth with the harder texture, thin pointed pencil such as MAC’s. Also both Lauder and Lancome have lovely pencils, each of which are over $20 each and have been for a long time (Lancome’s runs $26, but their Le Lipstique is still one of my favorites). I got this on a whim from Ulta when I had a 20% off coupon. Not all prestige lines qualify for that perk (they exclude Clinique and Lancome 100% of the time). It looked interesting to me because it had a thicker tip, meaning I could fill in my full mouth in a fraction of the time. It also has a lovely lip brush on the opposite end, also with its own cap. Here is the skinny on this not-so-skinny lip pencil. The synthetic brush which is on the opposite end of the pencil could be used to either blur the edges of the lip color (which appears to be a popular thing these days). Or it’s handy to have a lip brush in my purse without having a separate lip brush for a more precise lipstick application. It’s not overly stiff, feels nice. The color that I purchased is Hush Hush. It is described as a “cinnamon” color. I would call it brownish pink. It gives just the right amount of contrast with my NC20 skin without calling attention to my faded summertime freckles (sure to reemerge any day if I’m not vigilant about my SPF usage). It feels weightless on my lips. You get 2.7g of product in the pencil, which compared to a traditional pencil is a lot of product. For comparison, Colourpop’s Lippie Pencils (which I adore by the way) have 1.0g of product (for $5). Lancome’s Le Lipstique (currently on my lips in Natural Mauve) are 1.2g of product for $26!!! Nudestix which is a “chubby style” pencil runs $24 for 2.4g of product. Dollar for dollar, Colourpop is the best value. But again, it is a thinner pencil and it takes a bit more effort to fill in the mouth if that is your intended use. It feels weightless. In fact I forgot I was wearing it until I went to wash my face at night and realized it was not completely eaten off and still gave a beautiful color to my lips. Incognito and Dolly Danger (the latter a popular mauve color) are also part of this line. They have some really good colors, including a super light nude called White Russian which pairs back to their opaque Buxom Lip cream color. If you have a bit of cash to burn, I would recommend trying these out. They are available at Ulta if you have one near you. They are manufactured in Italy, and I have to be honest, I am an Italian lip product snob. Most of my lip products which I consider superior to others are made in Italy. The price point is not bad for this pencil, especially if you compare it to the Lancome, Estee Lauder, Charlotte Tilbury, Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown lines. I will definitely repurchase one as soon as I get some extra bucks. Try it, I think you will love it.
