I so wanted to like this gloss, but sadly, I don’t. It’s gorgeous, with a high-impact gold shimmer that looks stunning over light pink or nude liner (and it’s a real eye-catcher when the sunlight hits it), but it’s got such major drawbacks that cannot be overlooked. I’d first bought the shade Pixie Dust, which is a pretty lavender with blue shift, but that one wasn’t flattering. I decided to try Wanderlust instead. That was enough to convince me that the whole range isn’t all that impressive.
First off, this has so little staying power. I don’t even have to eat or drink anything for this stuff to completely disappear from my lips within an hour, and even though some glitter hangs around, most of it makes its way to my lip line, making it look like I have some bizarre glitter lip liner situation going on. Not cute.
Second, after giving this stuff the good ol’ college try, my lips began drying out and peeling like crazy. Nothing else in my lip care routine had changed except for this, so I know it’s the culprit. I chalk it up to the weird way that the formula (which is oddly creamy but far from glossy and definitely not “cushiony”, as the brand advertises) just sits on top of the lips rather than melding with them the way better glosses do.
Third, the price. This gloss is $11, and you get around 4.4ml. Normally I wouldn’t find that to be excessive if it was a higher-end brand (the UD Hi-Fi glosses are $20 for 7ml, for instance), but Milani is a drugstore brand whose prices have been increasing consistently for a little while now. I do like a lot of their products, but this isn’t indicative of the quality of the rest of their line.
I won’t be repurchasing.
