I slept on this shade for far too long, thinking it would be mega unflattering on me. Boy was I wrong. This has become my go-to Summer gloss!
I’d originally bought one of the Milani Hypnotic Lights glosses from the Festival collection in a gold-ish shade that was pretty enough, but had no staying power and dried out my lips like crazy. Upon returning it, I popped over to the UD display at Ulta and decided to swatch Goldmine and WOW! Talk about dense gold glitter! I immediately brought it to the register and haven’t looked back since. This is a SUPER glittery gold gloss that is not for the feint of heart. Paired with a nude liner, it’s a stunning gloss for the hot months when I’ve got a little color to my skin. And I love that after the gloss itself has worn down, I still have a wash of pretty glitter on my lips.
I enjoy the formula of these glosses over all. I’ve tried a few from the range and they all seem consistent in terms of hydrating properties and staying power. They’re not overly sticky or gloopy, but they do hang around for a long time for a gloss! I get about four hours of wear before fading becomes noticeable. With the glittery shades, the gloss itself wears for a long time, but after it fades, the glitter hangs around. Some may not like that, but I count it as a plus because I love glitter. I find these to be very hydrating, and I rather enjoy the scent/flavor.
The packaging is wonderful. The flattened, flexible doefoot applicator grabs enough product to coat both lips without needing to dip back into the tube, and the component is pretty. The sides are almost mirror-like so it makes touching up on the go pretty easy too!
Price-wise, at $20 they are not cheap. However, ounce for ounce, you are getting more bang for your buck than you would with most other glosses at a fairly whopping 7ml. I find most glosses tend to top out around 4-5ml (if you’re lucky) and some don’t even give you that much.
Between this and the Too Faced Tutti Frutti Glaze in Yummy Rummy, I’m in golden bronze paradise this Summer! I’ll definitely be keeping this in my bag.
Also, UD is cruelty-free, and this particular shade is vegan! (Logical Harmony verified which shades were vegan with the company, and this is one of them, thank goodness!)
