Why am I reviewing this in late 2019???
It’s because often get severe chapped – dry lips. I have tried using dozens of lip products switching them out over the decades when I’m desperate including: lip glosses, lipsticks, vaseline, carmex, blistex, lotion, eucerin, vitamin e capsules, other oils, and even Lansinoh’s lanolin (nipple cream for mothers who nurse). I have also tried using no lip products for weeks. Yes, I drink enough water.
I discovered that I need a lip product that somewhat moisturizes my lips, BUT ALSO allows or encourages the lip skin to regularly EXFOLIATE/slough off/rub off. This Almay lip balm is the only product that I’ve found that does that. Use it at least once or twice a day and message me with your findings. I find that just one light swipe on my bottom lip is good enough. My top lip doesn’t need it and it will transfer to the top lip eventually anyways. I also think it’s best to do it right before bedtime. I probably sleep with my mouth open, which probably dries out my lips extra fast.
The lanolin worked great for a while when my lips were chapped and bleeding, but then I realized that it almost worked too well and wouldn’t let my skin exfoliate naturally. I got stuck with a thicker layer of dead skin cells, which then later painfully came off.
Back to Almay’s color + care liquid lip balm – I can’t find these lip glosses anywhere except walmart and ebay these days. It’s not at Target or the drug stores. If ya’ll know of a reputable, affordable source then please let me know.
Certain colors in this line of products are better than others for my lips for some reason. I find that 600 (blooming) is good. 800 (rosy lipped) is alright. 400 (lilac love) is probably the worst of the bunch I’ve tried. I’m about to try 300 (Apple a Day) and hopefully I’ll report back soon.

I bought this in “Apple a day”. In the package it looks like a nice red gloss. When on my lips this looks more pink which was disappointing. It was very moisturizing though….probably the most moisturizing gloss i’ve used but the lasting power was super weak….i guess you can’t have it both ways…hahahaha
Also tried this in rosy lipped….boring blah lipgloss…i would only use this on top of a lipstick….

Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm- $6.29 @ Walgreens
Dry lips in particular will love these!!! This review is for all colors. I do think this is a really amazing product by Almay. It conditions my lips and provides a tinted high gloss look. Some shades will be more pigmented than the other, the darker ones give more color. These are so good! I have almost every color and have made countless re-purchases. I just ordered some more last night. Walgreens had a $4.00 off coupon with purchase of 2. My favorite colors are Cantaloupe, Just Plum Good, Blooming Balm( love a pretty, sheer pink and this one is my perfect), Apple a Day, Pink Pout(more pigmented than Blooming Balm and the color Kate Hudson wore in the promo pic) and Rosy Lipped. They are all sheer, and no substitute for a lipstick but they give your lips a nice amount of color and feel amazing!!! Just a flush of color and shine and they feel comfortable, lightweight and conditioning.
Description:
This product combines the lip conditioning care of a balm with the shiny color of your favorite gloss. Shiny color drenches lips with 2X hydration(compared to bare lips) as lip-loving conditioners provide 194% more moisture for softer, smoother lips over time. A lifesaver for your lips! Shiny color drenches lips. Non-sticky and hypoallergenic.Gluten free. Dermatologist tested
I absolutely love these. When I find them on sale I stock up because I use them almost every day. It is a fairly sheer tinted lip gloss/ lip treatment. These are as good as any lip balm, period! They really feel wonderful on my lips and they moisturize them like crazy. Never sticky, just soft and moisturized. They contain aloe, sunflower seed oil, beeswax, avocado oil, Vitamin E, rice bran wax, etc. (full list at the end of this review)
I keep these everywhere. In my purse, in my desk drawer, on my night table, in the living room in a small basket where I sit, I use them all the time because I can’t stand to have nothing on my lips or to have them feeling dry. If I eat with them on, they will be gone, but my lips still feel super moisturized and still look nice and I don’t mind re-applying. After about two hours the shine begins to fade, but I can still feel them on my lips after 3 -4 hours later unless I have eaten. It wears down gradually, and leaves my lips feeling moisturized to the end. Sometimes I put these on, let them sit a few minutes, then blot and apply a longer lasting more pigmented lipstick. I also use them in between applications of other products that suck the life out of my lips. I find the scent very nice and it’s not overpowering, a very soft butter smell with a hint of vanilla, kind of like a cupcake that just came out of the oven.

I love these little guys. They do not dry my lips. I am prone to dryness from lip products so I’m extremely picky. Not long wearing. A little bit sticky. I love that they aren’t too pigmented but gives you a little something extra w/o looking excessive.

I love these, I have seven of them and they are a welcome change from the whole matte liquid lipstick craze. Very good price, at my drugstore I think they’re somewhere around five bucks. Good color range in the line. They apply with a subtle wash of color that can be built up, I like that they aren’t shimmery or glittery either, that’s a problem I run into a lot of times when looking for lip glosses. So that’s why I have seven of them, they’re great.

I just got this product today, and I can definitely see what all the fuss is about! I have it in Just Plum Good, a pretty berry color that is very flattering on my ivory skin with yellow/olive undertones. I truly think this shade is one that would suit most any coloring combination in existence. The formula is quite moisturizing without being greasy or oily at all. The color payoff is somewhat sheer, but definitely noticeable with this shade. Out of the entire range, the shade I purchased is the darkest. That being said, it is still sheer but does leave a pretty stain as it wears off evenly. I definitely would go back and purchase the red shade and maybe the lilac one as well. I definitely would not, however, purchase the lighter shades because I don’t think there would be much color payoff whatsoever.

I’m actually surprised with this lipquid lipbalm. Almay was on sale at my local CVS, so I figured I’d try some new colors from this line. I happened to pick up Apple a Day and Truffle Kiss, and I loved the formulation and the colors. They’re sheerer than lipstick but have more color than most lip balms. And they give shine like a lip gloss. So needless to say, it was exactly what I was looking for. I was most shocked at how these moisturized my dry, flaky lips. I’ve been using Dr Pepper Lip Smackers, but since they changed the formula, the Almay Liquid Lipbalms have now been my go-to and the product I reach for every day. I picked up a couple of other colors as well — Plum So Good, Pink Pout and Apricot Pucker. I wasn’t too impressed with the Apricot Pucker as it was too orange for my tastes, and the Pink Pout can be too pastel looking depending on the color of my lips. So my favorites from this line have been Plum So Good and Apple a Day. Highly recommended, and a favorite of mine from the drugstore.

I’ve been loving the matte lip look but it never occurred to me that I might be doing real damage to my lips. So imagine my surprise when I was out and felt the sudden pain that comes with having cracked lips? That’s right, the center of my bottom lip was cracked. And yes, it was painful. Vaseline didn’t help. Burt’s Bees seemed to make it worse. I’d resorted to putting Shea Butter on my lips, which helped a little, but my lips weren’t healing as fast as I thought they should. I knew Almay products are good, so on a whim, I purchase this item in the color Truffle (950). My lip was completely healed in 3 days. I’m very pleased with the results. I usually gloss over drug store items because of fear of ingredients, and the belief that higher end items will be better. Guess what? I’m learning that I’m wrong. I use Korres Lip butters and Body Shop lip cremes under my matte lipsticks, but still managed to get chapped lips. I’ve decided to add a couple of Almay Lip Balm Color & Care tubes to my supply.
As for color payoff, this isn’t a lipstick, but it does give a nice tint to the lips. It is kinda’ sticky so flying hair will be a problem. It smells nice, doesn’t have a nasty aftertaste, and application is easy (doe eye tip applicator). It does come off kinda’ easy, so you’ll definitely have to reapply, but it’s worth it for the results.

Didn’t care too much for the finish or the pigmentation it’s just blah to me

I never wore this and recently got rid of one because it was too light. But RN I’m wearing Just Plum and it’s so pretty!!! Like I’m going to go buy like five lmao.
