This is the only of the Carousel glosses I’ve tried that is actually the “semiopaque” described. It has a pretty good colour payoff and looks nice when just applied.
However, it faded quickly, within 1,5 hour and set down to a weird gummy-like texture. It felt weird and gritty on my lips. The packaging is nice, but the smell rancid. In terms of price/gram this is extremely expensive, while performing like something very cheap.
It stains terribly!
This is by no means an unique colour, and really not worth the effort or price.

When I ordered this, I intended to buy the shade “Present,” but when Candy Apple came, it was so pretty that I was happy to just keep it.
Candy Apple is a sparkling true red, slightly cool-toned. It’s packed with tiny red “sparkles,” but I don’t feel them, even when I rub my lips together. Candy Apple feels very emollient, lasts well, has a faint pleasant vanilla taste, and is quite pigmented. I can imagine wearing this alone, or over red lipstick. It does seem to want to “travel” just a bit, so liner is probably a good idea with this gloss. I love that Lime Crime is cruelty-free; that’s a requirement for me.
The only “minus” is that the brush applicator was very stiff on first use, but I expect it to soften in time. I love this, and have already ordered “Present,” also. I’m 50 and a college graduate, so the sparkly purple tubes that Lime Crime products come in seem a little undignified, but I can deal with it. These glosses are not cheap, at $17.00 each, but I consider them totally worth it!
