This is (supposed to be) a marbled highlighter. It comes in one shade, it’s from their summer line and some stores are selling it at half the price. I’ve yet to find a highlighter that is both noticeable and flattering, so I figured I can risk it at a low price.
The packaging is your standard essence packaging for solids, nothing special. I don’t really care for packaging much as long as a product is okay, but this is just not.
There’s nothing that makes my blood boil quite like chalky products and cheap, glittery, frosted eye shadow like effect on skin, and this is both.
My skin is currently in superb condition after having found a custom oil blend that works great, it’s unusually smooth and sleek, hydrated, soft, plump, GREAT texture, *knocks on wood*, you get my drift. So any half decent product looks okay on it at the moment. This however leaves a very noticeable chalky residue that also creates the appearance of pores and fine lines where you literally have none. Blotting over with a sponge helps some, but it’s still there. I’m surprised I get that effect on both my hydrated skin and smooth foundation, but whatever.
The shade is warm and almost looks like bronzer, which is bad for me as I find any and all bronzers just plain ugly. It’s not that dark, it actually has a golden hue that I’ve been looking for and would look flattering if it weren’t for that added bronzer like cast (two shades are marbled together in this highlighter so I think it’s the darker one that does that). It’s not orange or screamingly obvious so if you’re not that opposed to bronzer in general you might not mind.
It does give a noticeable glow that I would LOVE if it weren’t for the chalky mess and russet cast from some angles. Although it’s supposed to be warm, I have a feeling the chalky frosting finish would look very dusty and ashy on darker skin tones.
I hate that it makes my skin look dry and dusty and frosted at the same time and if I had tested this when my skin was actually dry I would be lamenting my accursed skin for being a hopeless canvas for makeup, but this time I know for a fact it’s not me. I guess from a distance it’s not that apparent but up close definitely.
Too bad because because the visible golden glow would’ve been just right otherwise. At least I bought it discounted, but even so, I wouldn’t repurchase. I can’t even use the one I bought. If it wasn’t marbled I’d try scraping the lighter shade out, powdering it and mixing into moisturizer for a cream highlighter in hopes that helps with the chalkyness ( I *hate* throwing make-up out), but with the bronze shade in it I can’t even do that.
(*edit, tried it anyway and it turned out too dark for me and cakey)
Do not recommend because I’ve yet to meet someone who likes chalky skin. Looks worse than no highlighter.
( also don’t bother with their Glow like you’re hugged by your loved ones liquid highlighter)
