The Fairies highlight palette is described by Lime Crime as highlighters that “bathes skin in a dreamy magical glow with a trio of shimmering highlights. Silky-soft powder melts into skin as special hi-shine pigments burst into a beautiful metallic iridescence. Gleams of gold, lavender and peach dance on cheeks to create a look of real enchantment” – so yeah, so don’t expect a subtle highlight here, as we’re talking microglitter, and highly pigmented bases with an opalescent finish. You get three 7g pans in this palette; Magic (warm gold), Moonlight (lavender-blue shift) and Enchantment (peach champagne).
As mentioned above, there is microglitter/shimmer in these highlighters, but it is finely milled, weightless and it doesn’t outlive the bases to the highlighters – such an important factor. When I look straight-on into a mirror after application I can’t see anything, but when I turn my head the powders catch the light and flash intensely. A perfect highlighter – it’s not just sitting there as a strip of colour on skin ala Adam Ant. The base shades are universal, so will work on all skintones. When I apply my makeup in the morning I’ll sometimes use a setting spray, but sometimes I won’t, and I found that the highlighter will last until I’m ready to remove my makeup in the evening no matter if I use one or not.
The actual highlighters are worthy of 5 lippies, but I feel as though I have to remove a lippie as this product isn’t easy to get hold of; the Fairies palette is exclusive to a single retailer in each country that it’s sold in, so it’s not even available from the Lime Crime site. Here in the UK it is on the Selfridges site and I know it’s a online Ulta exclusive in America, but I’m not sure which other countries sell it.
