There are so many good shampoos out there it’s hard to choose. I loved the original Ojon hair conditioner. Put it on dry hair, wait ten minutes , shampoo and condition and your hair never looked better. It didn’t drip, leaving it a long time didn’t improve it. At the beginning I used it more often.
I have fine, curly and long hair. It doesn’t take much to weigh it down. I used a variety of shampoos including one the salon “D” in NYC sold without sodium laureth for probably twenty years. It’s the easiest to use.
This has a learning curve. It’s not as bad as the very pricey W. The trick is to learn that you only need a little. Don’t put it in one place. Depending on the leg th of your hair, rub it in your hand and then your scalp. You may want to put it on more than one area. I do the back of my head separately. What cleans your hair is the mechanical action of your hands rubbing the dirt loose from the scalp when the shampoo has separated dirt from the oil your scalp produces. This is true of any shampoo. That’s why it’s important the shampoo isn’t stripping oils off your scalp and hair. You don’t have to go crazy massaging away unless you’ve got a ton of soil from the garden rubbed into your hair. I found sticking with this was wthe best thing. It really improved over time.
I’ll add in my personal secret for any hair, but especially dry hair like mine. Don’t put a towel on your head after you shampoo and condition. It absorbs too much moisture. Use an old tee shirt. Old because you might have to cut it. I use a leave-in conditioner before combing or a product to protect the hair if blow drying. If you’re using a towel it dries out moisture you want to seal in with any product you use or don’t use after shampooing. Really, give it a year. If you air dry and the hair is dripping, take some paper towels and run them gently- don’t squeeze- down the hair. I’d the hair is curly use them on top to scrunch. Then they’ve only been used on clean hair. I pull three at a time and don’t do it too often. When I do I put the paper towels over the towel rack.
This shampoo comes from the man who brought Ojon conditioner out. Another big company bought it and left the deep conditioner and revitalized. They reformulated everything good. Denis Simeone came out with this line. It’s pricey. but you buy quality.

I have only used this once. My mom ordered it from the shopping channel for her fine hair. I noticed her hair looked greasy and mentioned it. It did not give her any volume, but a little shine. In fact it made her hair flat. I decided to give it a try. I used the one for normal hair. My hair is much thicker and longer than my mom but it is fine and wavy. The ingredients looked great, many different oils and extracts. It smelled nice and light. It comes in a can and has a foam texture like whipped cream. You are supposed to put on 1-2 pumps before washing and keep in on for 5-10 min. 1-2 pumps if difficult to spread on all my hair when it’s dry. I had to use more. Then in the shower you lather it up and add another 1-2 pumps, lather and rinse. At first my hair felt silky smooth. But after I shaved I felt my hair again and it felt greasy with buildup. I continued rinsing with a high power stream. Afterward, my hair was still tangled. Somehow on my hair it did give it volume. I wanted it to look sleek and soft but it looked the same, even a bit more frizzy. However, my hair still looked clean so I guess it’s better than using shampoo with sulfates. Still not sure if I like it.

Tweak-d Tribal Chocolate Self Cleansing Hair Treatment
Tweak-d Tribal Crème de Cacao Face and Body cream
Tweak-d 2XL Fibre Lift Daily Foaming Thickening Cleansing Cream
Tweak-d Rev-d Rise and Shine Mist
ALL: No reviews yet for Tweak-d? I predict there will be. First off, I’m a sucker for hair care products that promise the world. Add to that I adore natural products. Add to that that I’m slightly obsessive about my hair. Add to that I am over 50 when you find your old tried and true products stop being so amazing and the more products you hop on to, the worse things seem to get.
I still love Matrix Colour Care system, Paul Brown, and Kevin Murphy products, and I’ve always had naturally shiny hair, but the thinning, fly-away texture and the amount of hair spray I’ve needed to keep things strategically in place (cover thinning areas) felt like I was fighting a losing battle with the inevitable: my nice hair days were over. It hasn’t mattered what other products I’ve lemminged to, it’s basically just been a waste of money.
So hanging out one day I watched The Shopping Channel spiel about Tweak-d and out of boredom and that never-say-die hope of achieving perfection, I ordered Tweak-d Tribal Treasures set which came with the Chocolate cleanser and the Chocolate face and body cream.
As soon as I ordered this deal they moved onto a new segment with the Tweak-d 2XL cleaner and Rev-d Hair treatment which they said was more for fine, thinning, coloured hair. I thought, opps, I’d better get that set instead. The last thing I wanted was another product that was too rich for my hair and/or built up on my scalp (I’m looking at you Wen).
So within a minute of placing the order I called back and asked the gal to cancel it and get me the 2XL and Rev-d set. I was a bit sad, because I really wanted to try the face and body cream.
The 2XL set arrived and I began using it immediately. Unlike the Chocolate Cleansing Cream that you put on dry hair, wait several minutes, then step into the shower, add water, emulsify, add more cream etc., this one you just use it as you would any shampoo or conditioner. Wet hair, a pump or two into palm of hand, apply to wet hair and lather it up, do the rest of your shower routine, and rinse.
From the first use to now (it’s been 8 days) I haven’t used anything but Tweak-d to clean my hair because I am sooo impressed! Feeling like I discovered the secret to happiness!
My hair, which a week ago was parched, thin, fly away, frizzy, dry and dull, began looking softer, weightier, glossier, swingy-er, shinier, and fuller. From the first use!
Then about a week later, I got another package from TSC. I just knew it was the first order that I had “cancelled”. I let it sit in the unopened wrapper for several days while I wondered if I should just return it, or try it. I DO NOT need more hair products, but I knew this line was special. And maybe I could get some use out of the richer Chocolate cleanser, using it once a week to really give my hair a treat. Bonus: I could try the face and body cream too.
So this morning I caved and ripped open the package and applied the cream as instructed to dry hair. According to the directions for my hair I needed very little. It was kind of hard to get it all around into my hair, so I added a dab more. Then I waited before hopping in the shower. Once you are in the shower you add a bit of water, a little bit more of the cream, then emulsify, leave on a bit, then rinse.
Vavoom! This seemed to take my hair to the next level and I am LOVING my hair. I can’t get over just how good the condition of it is! When I touch it I’m shocked – it doesn’t even feel like my hair used to just a week ago. And although I still use a little hair spray, I can’t feel it on my hair.
Now I don’t need to use as much heat to dry my hair (the products cut down on drying time). I don’t need to use as much hair spray as I used to to keep my wispy locks in place (what wispy locks?!). And wonder of wonders, I even skipped my Toppix application a few times because my hair is fuller, healthier and glossier and seems to have reduced the appearance of thinning spots. Could it be that it’s helping my hair grow stronger? This is too amazing!
Other products I got: I’m on the fence about the Rev-d spray. It’s a good product, smells lovely, and has a welcome place in my hair care arsenal (as a bodifying spray reviver, conditioner, moisturizer, leave in, etc.) But I find I don’t really reach for it, and don’t really need it.
I do really like the Chocolate Face and Body cream. It’s not on their website and I can’t find it anywhere on the internet (not even on TSC’s site, so I guess it’s a one-off) but it’s a really nice product. I used it this morning under my SPF and really like the way my skin/make up looks today. Heck if this line can do for my face what it’s done for my hair I will definitely keep using.
The products smell great, look great, and you get generous amounts.
I would definitely recommend giving these cleansers a try!
UPDATE: I did find the Creme de Cacao face and body cream on the Tweak-d website (but they are sold out.) I recall they said the products are made in cycle with the harvests so sometimes are not available. In fact, it seems the entire line is “out of stock”, at least from their site.
