   I have bleached blonde hair, probably around a 9 or 10. I’ve tried a number of different toning shampoos, but recently my hair has been more damaged and porous than usual. I believe this is part of the reason I accidentally dyed part of my hair purple with a toning shampoo, even though I didn’t leave it in for more than one minute. The more damaged parts of my hair I believe are just hanging on to the purple color. Most annoying of all is that while the damaged parts were purple, other parts of my hair were still quite warm. It all looked really uneven and sloppy.

   So I was feeling pretty leery of purple shampoos/conditioners, but my hair was getting very yellow and I needed to do something about it, but I was scared of my purple shampoo. I decided to go a bit higher end and picked up the Pravana The Perfect Blonde Masque. The first time I applied it and was seeing how pigmented it was, I got scared and rinsed it out after 2 minutes. There was a tiny bit of toning effect, and definitely no purple. Two shampoos later, my hair was looking quite yellow again, so I left the Pravana toning mask on for the full five minutes. The result was excellent. No purple tint at all, very even tone throughout my hair, and just a gorgeous and multidimensional ashy blonde.

   The product is very, very pigmented and looks like actual hair dye. Make sure to rinse your hands after applying it, and try to get it off your face, too, because you’ll probably dye your skin with it. I know Pravana claims there are some moisturizing benefits or something to this masque, but I personally didn’t count on it (what with my damaged hair) and applied another conditioner after rinsing the masque out. So I can’t really speak to whether it’s good enough to use alone in place of a conditioner.

   Anyways, I would repurchase this. It had great toning effects without leaving any purple at all, which I’m very impressed with.

   This stuff is the real deal. My hair is medium / dark brown and it made my freshly bleached, un-toned and very golden balayage turn into a cool melt of ashy blond and, if you can believe it – platinum. This has worked better than any other purple shampoo/ conditioner product, and without drying my hair out. Why subject my hair to more chemicals when I can just get the perfect color with a conditioning mask?

   The product is very thick and very deep bluish purple. My hands are rough since I work with them so the purple did stick in all the cracks for a few days.

   I have a few levels of blonde in there since I am the slowest, and most indecisive self-foiler in the world :). The really warm, like just barely made it past orange strands might not have been that affected, but all those surrounding strands that were somewhere in the very golden stage became a lot cooler. The pieces near my face that I got to pale yellow – I got nervous as the mask sat next on there because they were turning gray. It rinsed out well and the pale yellow strands are now platinum. I did not think it could get that white without more bleach. It definitely has the most dramatic effect on pale yellow hair, but does a great job of cutting the warmth if you have a little more pigment. I’d say if you want to take the Gray look for a test drive, you might even be able to accomplish that by leaving the mask on longer (as long as you have already bleached to pale yellow of course).

   If you like purple shampoo, you need this mask. Hands down the most dramatic effect I have ever experienced from a ‘purple’ product.
