This garbage gave my dog split and cracked bleeding skin that eventually turned into a staph infection. My sister is a colorist and she warned me not to use this product and most other products by this co. Simply put, they don’t know what they are doing. I was advised to use gloves with this product. That’s strange. I do not recommend any product by eqyss. I can’t imagine using this on myself. The odor of the product is medicinal and leaves a gooey residue

Before they took out many of the ingredients this was a good product and I think it worked. Keratin protein was second ingredient after water. Now I think it is the 8th, the ingredients don’t have the amino acids, marine proteins, mucopolysaccharides (sp?) so how they can say it has not changed is beyond me.
There are still places you can find the original formula though it is difficult to find.
Mainly you can find it at pet supply, horse supply places however EQyss insists it is the same formula. I have tried to figure out if the new ingredients compare to the old, there is nothing to show they are the same. Unless of course the orginal ingredient was not the truth.
I see they have also changed the Ovations ingredients.

I bought this to help with hair growth after reading so much about it online. While I do think it help with strengthening my hair (it is rich with protein) I didn’t see a ton of new hair growth or faster hair growth or a decrease in shedding. I do not she a lot to begin with, so it’s possible that it may help with ppl who have a ton of shedding. My goal in using this product was for fast hair growth. I already use several salon brand deep conditioners and treatments that I love and wasn’t looking for a rebuilder persay. After three months I decided to discontinue use. I then tried Monistat for hair growth and have had AMAZING results with it (I usually grow 1/4 inch a month, and have grown over 2 inches in just over 2 months). I would consider buying this product again if I was looking for an alternative to traditional treatments or deep conditioners, but would not buy again for hair growth, re growth or volume building.

This product is different then the rebuilder in the black and blue bottle.

I got a sample of this (decant) on ebay which is good because I wanted to try it before buying a whole $30 bottlle of it.
I have fine, slightly thinning hair and wanted to see if Mega-Tek lives up to its claims. SO far I have only been using it 3 days and it takes 2-3 weeks to help hair grow.
It smells very nice, and is a creamy conditioner. Even though it was formulated for horses none of the ingredients are bad (it’s mostly Keratin) and it seems OK so far.
Will let you know if my thin spots go away. I sure hope so.

The correct spelling is EQyss, but MUA won’t capitalize my Q for some reason.
I had done quite a bit of reading and came across some chatter about this horse/pet product causing wonderful results on humans. This conditioner is marketed as a regrowth/rebuilder/repairer for animals’ coats, skin, hoofs, paws. The claims of human hair regrowth/thickening were what interested me. There are quite a few comparisons to a similar product, Ovation Cell Therapy that is purported to be more expensive w/ similar or same ingredients. I have not tried Ovation nor have I bothered to do an ingredient comparison, but I can tell you that Ovation’s manufacturer (DH Labs) = its parent company is EQyss – the company that makes Mega-Tek.
You can order Mega-Tek directy from the EQyss web site, or you can find a retailer there as well. Me – I ordered from Amazon (twice – got the small 2 oz size first to try, loved so much, went back and ordered the 16 fl oz full size. At the time, I believe the small size tub was around $6 – $8. The 16 fl oz bottle was around $23.)
Instructions are to apply as a conditioner, leave on for 5 min and then rinse out. I have used on a daily basis for a month and I LOVE it! Its white consistency is a little thicker than my ordinary daily conditioner, but not as thick as a deep conditioner. It has a light almost tropical scent.
I started by using as an all over conditioner, which was great, but since no one can re-grow hair at the ends, and due to the expense, I have been using on only my scalp for the past few weeks and then letting the rinsing action coat the rest of my hair like a normal conditioner.
I see less hair coming out when I rinse my hair and less on my hairbrush when styling. I can’t speak to regrowth (I have a LOT of hair, but it is VERY fine, so I can’t tell if there is regrowth) , but I can say it certainly does make my fine, color-treated layered bobbed hair look/feel thicker, fuller and like there is more of it and the effect, once I style and spray hairspray, lasts all day!
From my bottle: “….revolutionary formula is a technological breakthrough. Stimulates hair w/out the use of silicone, synthetic polymers, oils or petroleum based products. This advanced formula corrects the structure of weakened, dry, damaged coats, returning elasticity and restoring strength. Reduces hair breakage, repairs split ends and damaged hair. Removes damaging toxins, medications and chemical residues. Soothes hot spots and is safe for dry noses.” I also read somewhere that it is also good for dry, cracked cuticles. It is also “cruelty free, environmentally friendly.”
I have posted ingredients from my bottle at the top. I have uploaded a photo of the 2 oz jar/tub and the 16 oz bottle. In looking around, I’m seeing similar items, but w/ slightly different names like “cell rebuilder” or “rebuilder” and in bottles w/ blue or other colored writing. I do not know if these are the same product re-packaged or if slightly different.
This stuff is great and even though it is more than 2x the price of my regular ds conditioner, it is sooo worth it because it has taken the place of my daily conditioner and my 1-2x/week deep conditioner. I have had NO issue of build-up or color stripping. My fine hair appears much thicker and has more body = I am a VERY happy camper!!
UPDATE 6/28/10 – I checked the Eqyss website and the black bottle w/ the pink writing is no longer there. Now, its just the black bottle w/ the blue writing and simply called “Rebuilder”. Both versions are still available on Amazon (I just ordered my 2nd big bottle w/ the pink writing). Don’t know if this is simply re-packaging – gonna try to find ingredients list and compare w/ my pink bottle…just fyi…will post addtl update if I find out more info…
04/18/13 – there has been a lot of discussion on the internet regarding the “new” packaging and “new” ingredients. I found this on longhaircareforum.com w/in a discussion about this very topic – I’m not affiliated, just wanted to share:
