I’m looking for the perfect cruelty-free co-wash. This is not it, for one simple but important reason; my hair feels super greasy after use. It simply doesn’t do what I need it to do, so I will never repurchase.
Scent: Coconut. Not my favourite, but perfect if you’re into that.

I have type 2b-c thick, porous, hair. This made my hair feel heavy, and gross. I just felt like there was a greasy film on my hair. It’s gross. I had to rewash it. It might work well for other hair types, but definitely not for me.

Hair type: 2c/3a waves/curls. Fine, thin. Shoulder length.
Price: I think I paid $10 at Walgreens for 8oz. Might have been on sale when I bought it though.
Packaging: 1/5. Impossible to squeeze out due to the plastic being super hard and the product being very thick.
I usually love Shea Moisture products, and use quite a few in my routines. However, I hated this. It was too thick, which made it nearly impossible to evenly spread around my scale and hair. It was hard to rinse out, didn’t clean my hair and left my hair looking dull and limp. The skin texture on my scalp became rough and flaky after I began using this too. The smell was nice, and that’s about all it had going for it.
I do not recommend this product at all.

I have 2 mixed children, one of which has crazy mixed girl hair. I spend a TON on hair products in hopes of finding something that works for either one of them. the price is crazy for such a small bottle and I really don’t feel like it does much for her hair. the texture of it makes it difficult to even work through the hair so her scalp never gets any of it. if you’re looking for a good cowash just get you something called “as I am” it definitely takes the cake and you get more for less.

I’ve tried the shampoo from this pink line and it was so thin/watery that it just dried out my hair horribly. I have tons of experience with co-washing and sulfate free shampoos so finding this co-wash that actually contained a good amount of Kaolin Clay/African Black Soap Extract sounded amazing to me. Since my hair is color treated and permed I needed something gentle and moisturizing to clean my hair. This cleans my hair so well without making it feel dry and gross. Since my hair is so dry I just rinse it immediately and use the Shea Butter Conditioner in the Yellow Bottle as my rinse out conditioner to further moisturize and detangle.

This product is a clay-based conditioning wash that is very gentle. It’s part of the Coconut & Hibiscus line, but fragrance here is very faint. The formula is fairly thick, but not impossible to squeeze out of the bottle. Perhaps it would be better suited to a tube.
As for the perfomance, it is quite gentle. I like it because it doesn’t strip my color away. However, I don’t like how much product it takes for me to get my scalp clean. For right now, I’m repurchasing it, but I am on the lookout for an acceptable replacement.

It smell good leaves my hair soft but it do not cleans my scalp. It is very thick so it is hard to get out of the bottle.

This co-wash makes my hair reeeeallly soft and smells great. However when used according to instructions it left my hair pretty greasy. Now I dont rub it into my scalp and put it on middle to ends only, and it works great as a conditioner and makes my hair soft and wavy. But as a co-wash it’s not that great for how expensive it is.

This is my absolute favorite co-wash. It really brings out my 2a/2b waves and smells amazing. I dye my hair red and haven’t had any problem with it stripping color. Personally, I find it moisturizing enough on its own to skip additional conditioner including a leave-in. I just scrunch in some styling product and let my hair air-dry. I don’t really follow the directions though. They say to massage your hair for 3-5 minutes. I massage for maybe a minute and then let the conditioner sit while I finish my shower. Once I rinse I find my hair to be perfectly clean. I rotate this with some other co-washes because it’s $11.99 for 8 ounces. I co-wash everyday and use a lot of product to coat my hair. So, I can’t really afford to use this as my only co-wash. It’s still a lot cheaper than Wen and other designer co-washes on the market.

Really bummed this sucked so hard, for me anyway lol. So thought this was gonna be good for dry hair and it smelled like pineapple coconut with a hint of mint loved it.I figured for the price and the organic inhredients it had to be decent. However, I did as it said and worked it in and left on 3-5 minutes. I had a bath going and do I regret rinsing it off while doing this. I looked down and was shocked to see the tub had instantly turned bluish purple. After the initial shock stopped I recalled that I dye my hair with henna/indigo lol. This stuff literally stripped out every last ounce of color I’d had of it even over my shampoos over months of having it. Henna is an alllllll day process. Very exhuasting. So I was pretty annoyed. I already knew I’d be returning it for 12 bucks and you have to use a ton of it, saw this in other reviews after the fact to see if I was crazy since some people said they loved it. After my hair it dried it looked the worst I’ve ever seen it. Dry yet greasy, weighed down ans a bad color now. Feels awful, no conditioning power whatsoever. I’ve actually never had such a bad hair product which led me to this rant and to add it to the m.u.a. data base lol. Now maybe this may be good for someone’s hair type but not me. If you have finer hair at all, longer hair or use henna its a bad idea. My hair is in the middle as far as fineness but I have a lot of hair so it has qualities of very thick hair overall. Some women with very thick hair shafts said it was not great either especially since you need so much. I do hear the rest of their line is great. I also (for organic users) suspect they aren’t fully honest with their ingredients. It says there is no fragrance in this but yeah its definitely a chemically derived smell lovely as it is. Actually I’m gonna go ahead and drop this to one lipstick as I get angrier writing this and realize I’ve got a long day of henna ahead of me in the future to undo the months of work I had built up -______- extra grimace face! Delicious chemical smell, you can’t trick me!
