If you want your hair to look like in a french hair ad, try this. My fine long brunette hair loves, loves, loves it. It has a similar effect like henna that makes my hair shiny, voluminous and weightless. It’s best to watch the instructional video but it’s not that complicated to use. This is a HG for sure.

I have a lot of fine hair, that is colored and highlighted. It’s oily at the roots and dry on the ends. I recently went back to SLS free products and needed a gentle shampoo to maintain my color. I love Christophe Robin’s other products so I tried this finally. I thought because of my oily roots that this would be too heavy. It’s not. There is a learning curve and I suggest watching his tutorial on youtube. You also need to really rinse it out once complete. People complain that it’s not convenient to use because you need to keep adding water to emulsify over a period of time. If you’re doing it once a week, it’s really not a big deal. Yes, it’s expensive – but so is getting professional hair color, especially if you are highlighting. You need to use quality products to maintain color otherwise you’re throwing money out the window. I used it on my daughter’s virgin course super curly hair and her hair feels awesome. No frizz – which is amazing considering this product has no silicone which is usually a must to keep the frizz from her hair.
With that said, my hair felt amazing afterwards. No conditioner necessary. When I blew it dry, I was amazed at the volume and overall shine. I thought it felt weird at first when I started to dry but it was the feeling of healthy hair – one that I haven’t felt in awhile – that threw me off. Amazing product. Another holy grain by Christophe Robin.

I want to love this product. I like the concept: non-lather, gentle, reduces need for conditioner. However, unfortunately it’s not suited to my thick, wavy hair. While my hair feels soft and healthy when I use it continuously, my scalp gets greasy very quickly and roots look quite flat. I generally only wash my hair once every 3 days and with this product I need to more often. I think it would work well for someone with fine hair that is accustomed to washing daily.
As per other reviews, would also love to see it in a more convenient package (pump/bottle etc).

Got a sample of this loooong ago from beauty habit and ignored it figured it can’t hurt to try it. I absolutely loved it. I have dry coarse curly hair that is moisture hungry no matter what you do . Long story short I love this stuff – as soon as I run out of what I have I’m definitely splurging . Rinses clean but not drying or stripping

Already a fan of some products, I was very curious about this particular shampoo having heard mostly raves. I have long, double processed, fine but aging hair. Lots of it, too. Although it mostly behaves, sometimes it just looks matte and/or dull. I can’t quite explain it but I’m sure those particularly with processed blonde hair will know what I mean.
This is absolutely one of the better products I’ve used. The scent is light and lovely. The actual process is a bit cumbersome and I can see how people are put off by its fiddly nature. There is a shortcut to this that produces equally good results – learned it from Robin so I’m not making stuff up here:
– Place a small amount – I’d say roughly dessert spoon size dollop of the Creme in a bowl (I use a small plastic one as it will come with me in the shower), add a small amount of warm water and mix it until it reaches an egg white frothy consistency. Then take it in the shower with you and simply use it as you would a normal shampoo by applying it to wet hair. Then rinse out. It won’t lather because it’s an anti shampoo but you don’t need to go through the emulsify, add water, massage, repeat repeat repeat! Just put in hair, massage as a shampoo and rinse. Done.
The express method makes this shampoo infinitely more usable for me – I hate fiddling with all sorts of techniques so this express method has positively sold me on the shampoo. I tried both methods and I just can’t be bothered to use the standard, just the express, to be honest.
Back to the shampoo, when rinsing, as it is a 2-in-1 sometimes you don’t know if you’ve rinsed it all out. If you gave your hair a good solid rinse, you’ve likely done enough. With my hair, I can get away with not using conditioner – the results aren’t too bad – but I find I get greater results by following up with a conditioner. I’d say with shorter hair, virgin fine hair, etc. you might get away with it but in general, long hair that has been processed may need a follow up with conditioner.
My verdict is that I would buy it again and I love the shine it gives to my hair. True lovely fresh shine. My hair ends up soft and manageable. All positives.
It is pricey and I’ve been switching between this and the Kerastase Elixir Ultime shampoo/conditioner. This might ever so slightly edge the Kerastase combo out but it is more pricey so that is a consideration. If I were to use it as a 2 in 1 as it is intended, then there is more value for money, clearly, than the Kerastase EU shampoo AND conditioner. However, I need a conditioner after this. It’s simply better. And I’m not going to use a cheap conditioner after using an expensive shampoo. That would defeat the purpose. Therefore, If money was my concern, I’d be betting on Kerastase as it does nearly as good a job for less money.
That said, if price isn’t a worry or one is willing to pay more, this is a product to seriously consider.

This is a very nice, unique cleanser for colored hair. It smells great and left my hair conditioned, yet shiny and full of body. However, it is a fussy product to use–put it on, add a little water, massage it in, add more water, massage, etc. I wasn’t sure, even after watching the videos on how to use it, that I had massaged it in enough, and I found it a bit difficult to rinse out thoroughly as Christophe recommends. Although I didn’t need a separate conditioner, I found it more than a bit of a time-waster. I’m also not sure that it would remove the normal amount of product I use to style my hair. Additionally, it contains chamomile which, if you’re allergic to ragweed pollen (as I am), can cause a cross-allergic reaction. So, sadly, I will pass on the full size of this (I received a very generous sample from BeautyHabit) and try Christophe’s Antioxidant Cleansing Milk with 4 Oils and Blueberry instead.

New to the Christophe Robin products but am quickly converting over to only his line.
I use this the way his video on his site suggests: a cleanser used on hair coated with his Lavender Oil. I have mid-back length, heavy, thick, coarse hair that frizzes/curls and is colored. This shampoo is very gentle and does not lather all that much though it does remove the lavender oil with only one wash. It is NOT enough for my hair, conditioning wise so I follow with his milk and blueberry conditioner ( I also have the shampoo).
I have also used it on dry hair as a 30 minute mask and on damp hair and in a plastic bag while I shower, shave my legs, etc.
Excellent product no matter how I use it.

Im amazed!! My hair are very long, bleached, fine and they tangle like crazy… Usually I need to put some silicone to make them look good and detangle… But…
This crème cleans them from all these silicones but also makes them softer, silkier, less tangly… Its a miracle!! They re so shiny and I could touch them for hours…
How can this thing dont have silicones and make them look and feel that good? Ive never used anything like it and Im loving it!!
I can use it only on scalp as a shampoo- works, fast masque- works, longer 1 hour masque- works. Im loving it and as you mix it with water anyway you dont need that much, even for my long hair.

I have thick yet fine curly hair and I prefer the way cleansing conditioners make my hair feel and look. I bought Christophe Robin’s Creme Lavante au Citron for the first time 4 years ago after trying to find a menthol-free replacement for WEN. I have tried E-V-E-R-Y cleansing conditioner out there (Curl Junkie, all of the WEN scents, L’Oreal, Kerastase, Devacurl just to name a few) and my absolutely, hands-down, never-fails-me-favorite is Creme Lavante au Citron. It is hard to find (I know of only one online store that sells it in the U.S.) and it is incredibly expensive ($56 for an 8-oz jar) but I no longer care. I will take out a second mortgage to fund my need for this cleansing conditioner. I love the scent (light, creamy lemon), I love that I only need a tablespoon for my long hair, I love that I can apply it to wet hair or dry hair (saves time in the shower), I love that I can run a comb through my hair after rinsing and it doesn’t snarl or break, and I love how bouncy and shiny my hair is when styled. I also love how well my color stays true when I use Creme Lavante au Citron on a consistent basis (which is 2-3x a week). I cannot recommend this product highly enough.

I have very fine, thin hair that is damaged from color treating/highlights, which leaves me with a predicament – it gets greasy/dirty very quickly due to the thinness, but shampooing every day just leads to more damage and dryness. I was searching for an ultra gentle shampoo alternative that I could use in between shampoos, and heard a lot about WEN on the MUA hair board. However, someone mentioned that WEN can weigh down fine hair, and that the Christophe Robin Creme Lavante au Citron serves the same purpose but is better for fine hair. So, after reading the reviews and wincing at the cost, I finally shelled out the $55 and bought this. I really like it; I use it about every second day, alternating with my regular shampoo. I apply it on dry hair and let it sit for a couple minutes before getting in the shower, then rinse it off gradually. It leaves my hair feeling clean but not stripped, and very shiny. I can’t use this two days in a row, otherwise my hair gets a bit greasy, but this is great as a gentle alternative to shampoo every second day. I feel like this has helped prevent further damage to my hair, and it leaves it in really nice condition. Would probably repurchase, even though it is expensive and I’m a poor student. But my hair just gets too damaged with daily shampoo, and dry shampoos always leave my hair looking dirty and feeling grimy after a couple hours, so I feel like this product is worth the cost.
