I’m going to begin a series of reviews on products to enhance cool, platinum tones in blonde hair. Most of these products will be anti-brass. I am trying EVERYTHING. My hair is fine, wavy, blown out every other day. As anyone reading this knows, that great ashy tone is tough to hang onto, so in between salon appointments, I turn to color enhancing toners. I’m after deposit only, temporary toning. This will not cover the Wella toners; they’re actually color, and my hair stylist has forbidden me to touch that anymore. I’m after things that make the hair shiny, don’t weigh it down, and don’t give dull, charcoal tones. So, here we go……
My hair is naturally a light, ashy brown, 20%gray, heavily highlighted to an ashy level 10. I want ashy ashy ashy. Borderline silvery, but not granny hair trendy grey.
The things you find hunting on Amazon. This is from a line of color infused shampoos and conditioners. This review is for the shampoo only-though I did order a small version of the Congo see if it works for my hair. This line is sold on Amazon, Payless beauty (at a good discount,) and their own website.
This is a color infused shampoo. I would say it’s intensely is between Fudge and Shimmerlights. The thing that’s different about this one is the hue-it isn’t blue, lavender nor purple. It’s a deep, pearlescent gunmetal gray. And it works really well.
I shampooed with Christophe Robin clarifying shampoo, then lathered up with this. The directions say to rinse immediately, but who does that? I left it for three minutes or so, rinsed and conditioned with my Garnier olive blend conditioner. And…love it. It’s made my hair a silvery, though still ash, blonde. Not granny, not bluish, but a really pretty color.
The downside is the price: $35-40 for 8oz; Payless Beauty has it for $24. They also have smaller sizes in case you hate it. I wonder how the colors not found in nature crowd would like these-they come in a rainbow of shades. This isn’t a blonde toner per se; but it does add a dash of ashy/silver.
