I also uploaded a photo as my bag has a different woman on it- same brand though.
This is a surprisingly good brand for henna. It colours wonderfully, no additions in the powder and it is finely milled — there is nothing bad to say, really. The brand that has things like Amla Shikakai etc ready-made (i forgot the namr I think it is by Dabur?) is awful though the same price- it dries out my hair and causes fallout and tangling.
As with the previous reviewer, I too did not catch onto the fact that it was terrible and kept at it till I found this brand and the resulting difference in using it. In fact, it was her review that helped me realize why the other brand was so bad and this so good- the other herbal ingredients added to their henna powder, actually did more harm than good
For this brand I have to say it’s got no drawbacks. It strengthens my hair and I get enormous amounts of compliments on the colour/healthy appearance of my hair. I don’t know why I ever stopped and discovered the evil that lurks in Clairol hair dye. The use ofClairol caused much breakage and damage and I’m back to this brand of henna.

*** Sorry for the super long review! *** I was interested in trying out henna for hair strengthening, and conditioning. I wasn’t really looking for colour, but didn’t mind it if I ended up with some highlights under the light/sun. My hair is almost black (people usually think its black), its actually a very dark dark brown.
I purchased a different henna package from my local Asian food store, which was a huge mistake. I threw it out, but Ill try to find it online to warn others to NEVER EVER purchase it. Im pretty sure it had sand and other crap mixed in. It destroyed my hair (yes I was stupid enough to keep putting it in my hair even though It was obvious that something was very wrong).
So I went to my local Indian grocery store and picked this up. It comes in (1 kg) green plastic packaging. Thats alot of henna powder for just $10.00! The brand is “Quality Brand”, at least thats what it says on the package. I went home and was really in a hurry to get it on my hair hoping it would reverse some of the damage done by the other henna I used. I looked up so many videos and read many articles about how to make a henna paste, but in the end I went with something simple. I have shoulder length hair so I used 120g (100g is usually what’s recommended for my hair length). Actually, I’ll just write my recipe here to make it easier to use:
– 120g henna powder
– 1 cup coconut milk ***HIGHLY RECOMMEND: This will moisturise your hair without the use of oil***
– About half a lemon (freshly squeezed is best)
– About 1/4 cup tea (regular tea)
– Water as needed
I didn’t measure everything out exactly, except for the coconut milk and the henna powder. Usually people complain henna dries out their hair (and believe me, I know. I have dry hair), but the coconut milk made a HUGE difference. My hair was so smooth and beautiful after I rinsed it out.
So heres step by step instructions to what I did:
1. Mix the henna powder and the coconut milk together. Add the freshly squeezed lemon (about half). Add the tea. Mix well, and add water as needed to achieve the desired thickness. I wanted mine more on the watery side for easy application. DO NOT make it as runny as water though, or it’ll drip all over the place. I kept mine at a yoghurt consistency.
2. Since I was in a hurry, I only left the mixture to sit covered in a glass container (sealed tightly) for about 2 hours and a half. My hair is the hardest to dye (it refuses to accept colour), yet I have red highlights under good lighting/the sun, so 2 and a half hours worked great for me! On the internet, many people suggest leaving it 8 -12 hours before applying it to your hair.
3. I sectioned my hair, put some gloves on, and started applying the henna paste from my roots to the ends. I rubbed it in my scalp to get the benefits of it (strengthening my roots, etc.) I tied a plastic bag around my head and wrapped a towel over it to keep it warm. I suggest watching a you tube video for how to apply henna. I used this one:
4. I left it on my hair for 4 hours (it was late and I wanted to sleep!). Some suggest one hour, some two, and some leave it overnight. Honestly, I think for colouring you’d need to leave it in for a while. Since I was just using it for strengthening, 4 hours is more than enough.
5. Wash it out really really really well! I did not shampoo. I just rinsed my hair and put some coconut oil on it when I got out of the shower. Many people condition, but I didn’t.
6. After three days, I oiled my hair and left it for 5 hours. Then I washed my hair twice using my regular shampoo. I conditioned using the Vatika Black Seed hair mask treatment (see separate review).
It may seem like the biggest hassle in the world, and time consuming, but I promise you its worth it. I’ve only done this treatment once, yet my hair doesn’t fall out any more (rarely), and my hair is stronger and shinier. I will be doing this treatment either biweekly, or once a month. I attached photos of the bag since the brand name is strange. Now go get some henna!
