Within the range of hair masks that are available, this is priced on the low end. But this mask really punches above its weight. I left this in for 3 hours this afternoon, then rinsed and blow dried as usual. My hair was deeply hydrated, smooth and fluffy. I’ve been using a lot of heat styling and related products over the holidays and my hair has become distressed and dried out. I was really positively surprised by how great this worked. I’ve been testing a wide range of hair masks, and this fell within the top two of the ones I’ve tried (compared to Christophe Robin, Ouai, Kompari, Aveda and Living Proof).

One of the best aspects of this mask is that the ingredients are very short and simple compared to other hydrating hair masks, no protein or silicone overload. It contains jojoba oil which provides moisture and didn’t cause any acne breakouts on my hairline or back. In terms of moisture and hydration, it performed wonderfully. It has a light scent, semi floral. It did a great job at detangling my thick coarse hair. The only issue is the price. A large tub was $28.00 and due to the length of my hair, I like to use a generous amount. I don’t think I will be repurchasing due to the price but the product itself is great.

I bought a smaller tube of this (maybe 50 mL) while travelling, because my hair was dried out from sun and hard water, so the regular conditioner that I had brought from home wasn’t cutting it—and this was on sale at Sephora. I was very impressed! I used it as a regular conditioner (left it in for 1-5 minutes) several days in a row to put some softness and smoothness into my dried out hair, then just used it every few days. Good smell, made my hair soft and smooth, didn’t weigh it down. It’s pricey when not on sale, but I’d still consider buying it again. You don’t need a lot for it to work.

I got a sample of this with a Sephora order and it’s ok. It detangles well enough but I prefer a conditioner that gives my hair some slip. It smells nice and smooths more than softens, if that makes sense.

I got a 2 ounce tube of this for $10. It also comes in an 8.5 ounce tub for $28 at Sephora. The product is easy to use and my very dry, damaged hair felt very rehydrated after using this. Although I have not used this as a regular conditioner as I did not have enough product to do so, I would consider repurchasing this to use as a hair mask. My only concern with purchasing the larger tub is the cost, although it is more affordable as hair masks seem to go.

I was first introduced to this product in a Birchbox. It came in a tube. I used the tube and I had to have more so I ordered it. The tub has lasted me over 7 months and I’m getting more. My hair is dry and color treated, the water here is hard. I use a blow dryer and hot tools on my hair. This mask is amazing. I use it 1 – 2 times per week. It has a pleasant fragrance and it’s not overwhelming. It has added life to my dry locks. It’s more manageable, shiny and feels great. My hair stylist asked my what I had been using because my hair was looking so much healthier. I told her and she has ordered the whole line and is using it in the salon!

Love, love, love this mask. It’s what started my obsession with Amika. I usually just use it as a wash out conditioner…I’m too impatient to let it sit longer. But even still it makes my hair super soft and just generally more cooperative. When I don’t use it my hair just never comes out quite right.
I buy the small tube and since I have short hair it lasts me a while so I do think it’s worth the money even though it’s pricey.

This is a hydrating mask that I use for about 45 minutes or an hour with a heat cap. Heat makes it work the best, but you can use a hot towel too. It’s really thick and rich and a little goes a long way. It moisturizes really well and leaves my hair soft and shiny. The effects last quite a while. It isn’t heavy so it’s suitable for hair finer than mine (mine’s medium). My dry hair drinks in it and as long as you rinse it out completely, it doesn’t build up. It also smells really nice too, a subtle floral scent with a few herbal notes thrown in. The mask I have is pale yellow, but there have been some negative reviews on Amazon complaining that the mask they received was a pale pink color. I’ve had my mask quite a while and only recently rediscovered it at the back of my hall closet, so I don’t know if it’s been reformulated during that time. I only know that the one I have works great which accounts for the high price tag. I use it about every two weeks or so, while I’m doing my nails (I like to kill two birds with one stone, lol!). It doesn’t get crunchy or hard and I suppose if you left it on overnight it would work equally well. It was all the rage on hair board when it first came out a few years ago. It has a variety of minerals and oils that nourish parched strands. Now that I’ve found it again, I’ve been using it regularly with great results. I suppose that if I were stranded on a desert isle, this mask would be on my list of requested beauty items. I also like the Shea Moisture masks, especially the Manuka Honey formula (only at Target and Ulta). If money were a concern, I would definitely opt for SM over this Amika mask. I think they work about the same and the honey formula smells just like wildflower honey. However, the honey formula is definitely too heavy for fine hair. But SM has just come out with a new line especially for fine hair, the Coconut Water Weightless system. I’ve only seen it at Ulta but the mask has gotten excellent feedback on hair board. All in all, I really like this Amika mask and if you can afford it, you should definitely get it. However, if getting it means that you’ll be skipping lunch or dinner or that your doggie or kitty goes hungry, then by all means try SM instead. I use SM the exact same way and I get nice, shiny, hydrated hair. I’m giving this Amika mask four lippies because only Je Veux Mud Mask has really bowled me over and that was years ago. SM is as good as the Wen mask btw.

I got this as a free sample from Ipsy or Birchbox. Definitely thought it made my hair feel great. I have coarse, thick, Asian hair that has been processed. I don’t know though if it’s any better than my coconut oil conditioner from Sally’s.

This mask is good for fine hair because it moisturizes without weighing my fine hair down. It smells delicious and rinses out clean. It makes my hair feel soft and silky. My only observation is that this would definitely not be heavy enough for someone with even moderately thick hair.
