For reference I have 1A straight thick asian hair and I use a few devacurl products and generally love them all.
This mask left my hair feeling and looking great. It’s a little expensive though so I feel like you could get products that do the same thing for half the price. That said I still recommend this one if you have dry hair. Smells like vanilla!

Feels pretty good….nothing over the too special…I have wavy hair and this doesnt really do anything to help. But feels moisturizing

I got a pretty good size sample of this from Sephora and I love Devacurl products so I thought I would give this a try. I did what the label recommended – I thoroughly applied the product in my hair, wrapped in plastic, applied heat for 10 minutes, then let sit for another 45 minutes and rinsed it out. I feel like this made my hair worse. It was so dry I could hear the comb scraping against my hair in the shower. Such a disturbing sound. My hair felt so dry, even after putting in leave in conditioner (kinky curly knot today). Zero improvement with this product. Thoroughly disappointed. Do not recommend.

Melt Into Moisture is irreplaceable for my 3A curls. I use it as my primary rinse out (that I don’t complete rinse out) conditioner, and occasionally as a styling product on second/third day hair. It provides excellent slip on wet hair, despite being rather thick in texture. That thickness is what makes it usable on dry hair as well — it provides moisture and shine, but also really helps to hold shape. However, it does need to be thoroughly smoothed into the hair when hair is dry, as the stickiness of the texture can leave some parts of the hair more heavily coated than others. When used in the shower on wet hair, I don’t completely rinse out; I scrunch water into my hair until I get beautiful clumps, and top with the blue Madam CJ Walker gel. This routine leaves me with soft, hydrated, voluminous, well defined curls that hold up to wind and hoods and all the other hair destroying inconveniences of winter in the northeast. It’s marketed as a deep conditioner, but my hair is so thirsty that I can use this every day. I have the giant size in the pump, which I prefer to the jar and is also better value. Personally, I love the fragrance — in fact, it’s the only Devacurl product with a fragrance I like, as the other products in the line smell fruity. It just smells mildly sweet and then dissipates, so it doesn’t compete with my perfume. For me this is a HG product and the only product from the Devacurl line that I would repurchase, despite the high price tag. I can imagine that this product would not work for everyone due to the unique texture, but if you can get a sample you may fall in love, just like I did!

I will preface this by saying this is not for the usual purpose of this hair mask. So here goes: I was clinically depressed, and then my dad died, and then I didn’t comb my hair for a month. I kept it in a ponytail and didn’t wash or detangle it. When I finally tried, I got nowhere. Enter this hair mask. I used LIBERAL handfuls on my wet, freshly shampooed but matted hair, finger combed like crazy before breaking out the shower comb, and about 45 minutes to an hour later, my comb and fingers ran through my hair like butter. This stuff is crazy rich and has an amazing amount of slip. Afterwards, my hair was super soft and silky. My hair is very dense and very prone to tangles, and I was afraid I’d have to chop all of it off. This saved my hair. The only things I don’t like are the smell (kind of odd – the jar says it’s supposed to be sweet almond) and the high price tag, but I seriously would have paid twice what I did to get my hair back.

I tried this today and am not impressed with the results at all. Especially for the $38 price tag. I applied it to wet hair, covered with plastic wrap, and the wrapped my hair in a towel. Left it in for between 10 and 15 minutes before rinsing. Noticed that hair felt oddly rough upon rinsing . Applied gel and air-dried as usual. Hair is just as dry and frizzy as before, not sure that it did anything at all TBH.
