This is a review on the Catherine’s Personal Stash 2007Jamilla Henna from http://www.hennaforhair.com
I bought Henna for the conditioning, not color. Since I didn’t want red hair I did a henna gloss which is mixing henna with conditioner. I have very long thick hair and used 1 box + conditioner (Nature’s Gate). This stuff is great. Makes the hair very very soft, shiny and give me a slight auburn tint in the sun or light. I have black hair.
I really like Henna. It’s messy for the first few times but when I did it yesterday it wasn’t bad at all. The website I listed is also good because there is a very active forum so you can ask plenty of questions. You can also mix henna with other plant extracts to get a more brown, black or blonde color.

I absolutely adore henna. The shine it gave my hair is unbeatable! My husband rarely paid attention to these kind of things, but he commented that my hair was “extremely shiny” after my first treatment with henna. Yes, it’s messy, it’s laborious, it takes commitment, but hell yeah, I will not stop using henna as long as I live. 🙂
Make sure to use BAQ though. I’ve never used non-BAQ, but based on the feedback from people at longhaircommunity.com, it makes quite a difference.

For anyone who has never used body art quality henna before & is used to compound, boxed henna, this will be a whole new experience for you. I purchased 50g of jamila henna, which was enough for my fine, shoulder length hair. I mixed it was lemon juice as hennaforhair.com instructed, left it in a warm place for over 12 hours (for dye release), mixed it with some more warm water, they applied to hair and left it in for 4 hours. Very smooth application & washed out in only 1-2 shampoos, as compared to the sandy compound boxed henna which take 4-5 shampoos to wash out.
My chestnut brown hair turned a deep, dark auburn color. It ended up being too dark, and I ended up sleeping with yogurt, lemon juice & honey on my hair three nights in a row to try to remove some of the color (next time I will only leave it on for an hour or so, the dye content is that strong). Luckily I was able to remove some before it oxidized and I ended up with a pretty, coppery red tint on my hair. It’s been a couple of months and it hasn’t faded. This is potent stuff with an insane amount of dye content, and it leaves hair very conditioned. If you want auburn hair, this gives you auburn. Would buy body art quality henna again & I will not go back to the compound stuff. Since I prefer coppery red, I will probably go with BAQ 2 with less dye content next time.
