I’m not completely and entirely in love with this product, but I do like it a lot and the price really does make up for any bad feelings I might have towards it, and I’m definitely going to be buying it again.
I’ve got incredibly damaged 3a hair that I’ve only stopped straightening about 3 months ago now, and out of all of the hair masks that I’ve tried since then, this is definitely my favourite. I use it once a week, and it leaves my hair feeling soft and looking shiny, and it makes my curls spiral almost as nicely as they used to. It’s also silicone free and mostly natural, and so, so, so cheap, and I’m definitely going to be repurchasing it.
That being said, this mask is definitely a bit heavier than I would like, and it doesn’t rinse out of my hair very easily. When I use it, I tend to shampoo first, put this in and leave it on under a shower cap for 10-20 minutes (I’m pretty sure the bottle recommends 5-10, so that might account for some of my difficulties rinsing it out), rinse it out, and then put my normal conditioner (OGX shea soft & smooth) in and use that to detangle. I haven’t tried detangling my hair using this treatment, but I really don’t think it would work. It goes on heavy and doesn’t provide much slip, and it doesn’t feel like it rinses out completely until after I’ve rinsed my normal conditioner out.
It would definitely be nice to not have to use my normal conditioner on top of this treatment but, when you factor in the price of this, I really don’t mind it all that much. In the end, this product gives me the results that I want for a price that I can definitely afford, and I’m definitely going to keep experimenting with other treatments, but I really do like this one and if you can find it for a good price (it was around $6, but it might only be available in Canada?) I would definitely recommend trying it!

I just used it for the first time and I love it! When I put the product on, my hair turned instantly soft and smelled so good. My hair are now really soft and shiny! Also, it’s all with natural ingredients and its vegan! Perfect match! I got it for 4.99 at shoppers drug mart, pretty good deal!

Yes! This is essentially a more concentrated version of the regular LiveClean Argan Oil Conditioner.
When I first tried LiveClean, I was used to using a lot of products containing silicones, and the LiveClean products did not work at all. Once I realized how much the silicones were damaging my hair and removed them from my regimen, the LiveClean line became a holy grail. I have fine, porous, wavy (2b) hair, and I use this alone as a co-wash.
It provides moderate slip and has a light, refreshing smell that is not overpowering. The packaging is modest and coordinates well with my white and brown bathroom (totally important, right?!!). I can get this on sale for under $4 and always have a backup on hand.

Great deep conditioner for dry/coarse hair. Really helps with softness, shine and manageability. I don’t mind the scent, although it is a bit “perfumey”, since it doesn’t seem to stick around on the hair after rinsing. Silicone-free! My hair is okay with some silicones, but sometimes it really needs a break and to soak up some oils. This is perfect for that. I don’t know that I’d use it every day, but if it’s the sort of thing your hair needs, the price is right – you could absolutely use this as a daily conditioner. It has good slip/detangling as well, especially compared to most health-food-store type cone-free brands. So that makes it a good option for long hair.

I love this product! I can definitely see myself buying another bottle– in fact, I’ve already purchased another one today!
I recently damaged my hair pretty badly in attempts of going white-blonde with an at home bleaching kit and very light ash blonde hair dye (my bad). I was freaking out and rummaging under my mom’s bathroom sink when I saw a whole collection of Live Clean products, but reached for only the conditioners.
First off, it’s vegan! This brand is exclusive to Canada (or so I read somewhere on the internet), and any product sold in Canada must not be tested on animals otherwise it will not hit the shelves. It’s silicone- and phthalate-free, and the second ingredient is argan oil, only after water, which shows you that the name is true to it’s word! The smell is amazing– nice and sweet! And the consistency is thick and creamy, so I was sure it wouldn’t be too runny and make a mess. I put it on my hair overnight under a shower cap and the next morning when rinsing it out of my hair, I already noticed a difference. After having used it every other day for a whole two weeks, my hair is almost back to it’s regular baby-soft standard.
The only reason I gave this product a four (I wanted to give it a 4.999…) but unfortunately at $9.00 a bottle at Shoppers, I only got about six uses from it. Also, not too fond of the packaging, because when applying it in the shower, it can be hard to open with slippery wet hands. Other than that, the product is excellent, and if I’m ever in another pickle like this one I’ll make sure to have a bottle of this under MY bathroom sink!

Update 2014: I bought another tube and it was horrible! not sure if it was just this tube, if it’s always been bad but I’m only now noticing, or if they changed the formula.. but it basically felt like using Vaseline as a deep conditioner. Every time I’ve used this I’ve had to shampoo it out because it left my hair so horribly gunky.
It contains waxes and cetrimonium chloride, both of which are bad for my hair (waxes are okay if they are in small amounts though). I’ve lowered my rating to a 2

Packaging:
Comes in white squeeze tube with a flip cap. Basically like a giant toothpaste bottle. Unlike the brand’s conditioner bottles this design is user-friendly and works very well for the formula of the mask – easy to dispense however much you want, each to close the cap, cap seems like it would be secure and last without breaking.
Formula:
The ingredients for this and the conditioner are almost identical, but this mask is definitely thicker and creamier than the conditioner. It has the same aroma, I’d guess argan oil. The scent lingers, which I like, but it is not strong. White, not oily, feels light in the hand.
Performance:
I’ve reviewed the conditioner for this line and I had similar issues with this mask. The mask is far better at detangling and moisturizing the hair, giving great slip (update 2014: my new bottle did none of this, and was very difficult to spread through the hair – it only worked layered over another product). I tested this out as a cowash, rinse-out, leave in, and mask. Overall it worked nicely as a cowash and rinse out, but a bit heavy for a leave in. I didn’t use it often as a mask so I don’t have much of an opinion on that. Like the conditioner, the mask seems to leave buildup on my scalp and hair, which lessens curl and caused fall out due to a clogged/built-up scalp. My hair definitely seems thinner than it was prior to its use, which is unfortunate and I hope the growth will come back in soon. It didn’t help with frizz at all, but that could have been due to build-up. It rinses out of the hair really well though, and feels great in the hair when using it (untue in 2014). It definitely helped bring moisture to the inside of the hair and brought in more elasticity, but I think that overall this would be something I could only use before or after a clarification with shampoo.
Bang for your Buck:
$5-8CAD for 250ml, which is 100ml less than the conditioner but the same price. If used as a cowash it will get used up quicker, but as a rinse-out or even as a mask not much is needed due to how rich the formula can be for the hair.
Final Consensus:
I wish this worked but “natural” products just don’t seem to agree with my hair. Either too much moisture or too much build-up or both, my scalp was accruing more build-up that led to fall-out, and my hair was losing curl. I’d still recommend giving it a try if “natural” lines work for you or you are in need of something protein- and cone-free.
