I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this product! I grabbed a kit this week and used it on myself a few nights ago while colouring my hair (using Fanola 6.22 with 1:1.5 of 20vol developer, processing 40mins, & 6ml Cueplex). I was blow away with the results!
This evening I used the #3 Bond Sustainer and my hair feels even better than the first treatment. It’s crazy shiny, and smooth as silk. But that’s not all…I’ve noticed the elasticity of my hair is incredible now. Before, the ends were very dry and brittle, even after a good protein treatment. Now, it’s just strong, beautful, healthy hair. Another thing I noticed is that usually when washing my hair there’s a great deal of hair loss. Being a curly haired person, most of my hair loss gets caught up during the week and it all comes out during a wash. When running the conditioner thru my hair, normally enough comes away to make up a small ball in my palm. Tonight, however, only 2 or 3 hairs came out, which is a massive difference!
Cons: As great as Cureplex is, it’s not perfect. When I first rinsed out the step 1 (with the dye) my hair did feel really strange and plastic like. That feeling (for the most part) went away after 5-minutes with step #2, but there was still a very slight plastic-y texture to my hair. After using the step #3 this evening, that odd texture is completely gone now, my hair is just soft, supple, shiny and it feels really weightless too.
Another con was not having any kind of measuring instrument provided. You have to use precise amounts, in 1ml incriments and even though the products are cheaper than Olaplex, they’re still pretty expensive. It would have been nice if Cureplex provided a measuring cup with each kit.
EXTRA CON: I’ve just edited my review to mention this. I’ve spent the last day researching all of the ‘Plex’s and there’s quite a lot of anecdotal evidence from ppl saying these treatments (Olaplex, Cureplex, etc) damaged their hair. The common denominator seems to be that the person had begun with either virgin or healthy hair only to find their hair brittle, dry and a ton of breakage. So I do believe you should ONLY use these treatments on already damaged hair, and DO NOT push your clients hair beyond what you would without the ‘Plex’.
Price: It’s about half the price of Olaplex, so for the #3 Bond Sustainer 100ml, the retail price (in Australia) is $29.95. Trade price for a small kit of 1 x 100ml Step 1 and 2 x 100ml Step 2, should set you back around $90 (Australian dollars). Hair salons will set their own prices as an add-on to their services.
Packaging: Simple black bottles, which do look like professional salon products. But, they’re not that fancy looking. Again, it would have been nice if a measuring cup was provided when purchasing your kit. I’ve had to go out and buy a child’s medicine dropper to use with the product.
Even so, I love the product so much, I’ve just ordered a much larger kit.

This is by Hi-Lift, which brand everyone who bleaches their hair would probably be familiar with.
I am quite happy with this, though it’s pricey… it’s still way cheaper than olaplex.
I find that it has reduced damage whilst dying my hair, and it has repaired old damage, somewhat – BUT!!! My hair doesn’t feel natural, even though it is stronger. It feels like there is a coating of plastic on each hair strand… which there is… but it’s still way better than the nasty straw effect that you usually get.
So we lose a star for the feel, but it does do what it says it does. I know olaplex claim that it’s not the same as theirs, but it does achieve the same result… it just uses a different chemical path to achieve those results. More than one way to skin a cat, or re-bond a hair shaft! I felt that although it was a weird texture to my fingers, the cureplex left each hair stronger than the olaplex did.
The results may be different for different individuals, depending on the actual makeup of your hair… some people have a big core, others not so much… fine hair often misses a layer altogether, that other people have, so definitely get samples and try before you buy with the ‘plexes’.
I looked up all the various chemicals and investigated how the bonds were formed via chemistry research papers etc rather than going off the ‘advertising’ junk that the companies feed you.
So I personally found that cureplex worked better for me and didn’t do anything radically different to the others… it’s just different chemistry methods and bonding pathways.
