   It’s an okay treatment… My first experience with keratin was getting Brazilian Blowout at a salon, and the results were awesome. My hair was very shiny, smooth and soft for 1.5 months and still quite nice up to 2.5 months after the treatment (using regular shampoo with sulfates). It was also ridiculously expensive and the salon was too far from my home for me to go back every 2 months. So I decided to look for more accessible alternatives. I found this.

   The application is easy. I wash my hair with their deep cleansing shampoo, blow dry, then move on to the keratin. I don’t bother with brushes as if I was dyeing my hair, what I do is take a plastic comb, dip it into the keratin so that it’s dispersed throughout the teeth of the comb and brush it through each section 10-20 times, careful not to get it on the scalp. Blow dry once again, and straighten.

   Now. I don’t straighten at 220℃ like they say in the instructions. I did that once and damaged my hair. Clearly, the keratin isn’t strong enough to protect it from that much heat. So I do each section at 190 degrees about 3-5 times.

   Still, it’s not as nice as Brazilian Blowout. I’m considering just ordering that online and suck up the price.

   I have slightly curly, very damaged, bleached, frizzy hair, and it’s untameable. No amount of treatments, serums or creams will stop my natural frizzy state.
   Until i found the Cocochoco Pure Brazilian Keratin Treatment.
   I bought it online, not expensive (over the course of a year i’d easily spend as much/more on various smoothing/strengthening treatments), and i couldn’t wait to try it. And so i did.
   Follow the instructions to the nail. You can’t complain about less than expected results if you don’t.
   Yes, it took a while. My eyes did sting on occasion, but no more than if i was using a home hair dye.
   The 3 days of no tying/clipping my hair back, or pushing my hair behind my ears, was absolute torture. My hair spends it’s life behind my ears. But i just about managed it. I rarely wash my hair more often than every 3rd day anyway (although it usually spends the 3rd day in a bun), so it was just about passable on the 3rd day with the help of dry shampoo. Yes, you can use dry shampoo!!
   I was dubious about the upcoming results, having read numerous reviews that said it had damaged their hair, they had no difference in texture, that it was a waste of money etc.
   Well, let me tell you, when i washed my hair on the third day, it was the first time in my 32 years on this planet that i’ve been able to run my fingers through my hair after shampooing, and before conditioning (with my newly purchased sulphate free shampoo). I conditioned anyway, because who doesn’t, and let my hair dry naturally overnight.
   The results are incredible. Not only is my hair soft, and smooth, but it’s shiny. I used to wake up with hair big enough to rival a lion’s mane. Today, i have gorgeous, smooth, soft waves. Not even waves really. Just lovely hair. No frizz in sight. If my hair dries naturally like this every time, i’ll be a life long convert to this product.
   I should say, my hair was very damaged to start with. Years of dye and bleach and heat styling has more than taken it’s toll, but this product has undone all of that.
   Couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone who has chemically/heat damaged hair.

   I bought this stuff going on the review of the previous poster. I have just applied it today and have started the 3 day process before I wash it out. I purchased mines from eBay for a decanted bottle and some cleansing shampoo. It was £35. My hair is quite heavily bleached and in very poor condition. Whenever I washed it using the cleansing conditioner it was like straw. I combed it out and dried it as instructed before applying the treatment. I found that there was a real chemical stink from the treatment but my mum, who helped apply to the back of the head couldn’t smell anything. I combed out the excess and started to dry it. When straightening the smell from my hair made my eyes stream and nipped them. I will update this post to review the results

   This is a professional keratin hair straightening product that is available via Amazon, eBay, and I’m sure other online sellers as well.

   I have had keratin straightening done in salons (3 times) over a period of perhaps two years, several years ago.

   I think a person can have keratin straightening done too close together and result in keratin overload and breakage. I know that my hair at one point was pretty brittle. Looking back, I think most of my hair woes at that time were due to an overly hot hairdryer. (Rusk Speed Freak) which totally fried my hair…

   I’ve been going through a frustrating time with my hair of late, its been frizzy and poufy and dull. Even my beloved Philip Kingsley Elasticizer wasn’t enough. After treatment with the elasticizer, my hair would be shiny and silky, but the ends of my hair (cut in layers ) were still noticeable. Sort of frizzled, and , I was spending a long time blow drying my hair. I decided that keratin might be the answer.

   The Brazilian keratin straightening treatments applied to my hair in the salon supposedly did not contain formaldehyde (or so they said, who really knows) The Cocochoco I believe does have it though, according to Eco Watch.

   Nevertheless, as I am the consumer, not a hairdresser being exposed to it repeatedly, this was not a huge issue for me, and I went ahead with it. I kept the ventilation fan running in the bathroom, but honestly, the only odor I was aware of was an intense cocoa smell (think cocoa butter) My eyes never watered, I had no bad side effects from it.

   The reasons I chose this particular product were the positive customer reviews on Amazon, and the price.

   WOW! Really truly just wow. The results were amazing! In fact, my hair is much straighter when wet, and when allowed to dry without heat, than it was after any of the professionally applied treatments in the past.

   Before starting, I emailed customer service at Cocochoco, asking if I could apply demi-permanent hair color immediately prior to starting the keratin treatment, or if there should be a wait time, and received an email back that basically asked “what I meant by demi-permanent. This did not instill confidence in potential help from them… so… I winged it.

   Although I don’t normally shampoo before coloring, I wanted to ensure my hair would be as ready as possible for the keratin treatment, so I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, dried it, then applied color (Redken Shades EQ Gloss) processed that, and washed it out with more color safe clarifying shampoo.

   Next I rough dried it, applied the Cocochoco, combed it through with a fine toothed comb, making sure my hair was completely saturated, let that stay for 10 minutes (probably more like 15 or so), and then blew it completely dry.

   After that, I used my flat iron set to 430 degrees, and flat ironed my entire head in teeny tiny sections Felt like it took forever, but, start to finish (beginning with first shampoo before color, to end of flat ironing) probably was about 4 1/2 hours.

   I went for 72 hours without shampooing my hair or getting it wet. And yes, it did look dirty and stringy, and I could hardly wait to wash it!

   The results are phenomenal. My hair is almost completely straight. I’ve been drying it loose, rather than sectioning it, with dryer set to medium heat. using a ghd ceramic paddle brush, but no real tension, I use the brush more to move my hair around than to use it for styling, My hairdryer is a BaByliss Pro Nano 6600 Titanium hairdryer (that I love so much I have a second one for a backup still in its box) If you’re familiar with this hairdryer, you will know that it does not get very hot (why I love it after the evil Rusk Speed Freak!)

   And it takes me about 10-12 minutes with this hair dryer set on medium heat, high blower, to go from wet hair directly out of the shower, to completely dry. I have a lot of thick coarse hair! I am so amazed. No frizz, super duper shiny hair. I could not be happier. My hair will still hold a curl, or wave with the use of curling wand.

   The 8 oz bottle still has about half of its contents, so I probably can get two uses out of it. Its been over a month, no signs of the treatment lessening yet, but, I only wash about every 3-4 days, and am careful to use the correct type of shampoo and conditioners.

   If you are interested in doing this to your own hair, it is totally doable. You will have to have a flat iron that heats up to 430 degrees though. I already owned one, so it was not an added expense for me.

   I will update in a few months, and am adding some photos immediately after I post this. The photo showing it completely straight is how it looks after being blown dry with no real styling effort at all. The other two photos show hair curled with 1″ curling wand, and with 1.5” curling wand ♥♥♥

   So, it is late May now, and I just repeated the process. I probably should have done it about a month or so earlier. Not all of the results of original treatment have gone, ,but it was definitely time.

   This time around, the fumes were more noticeable, my eyes stung a little while applying (not to the point of tearing up though) and I found it more comfortable to open the french doors in my bedroom and sit in fresh air while I blew my hair dry. The fumes were not an issue while going over it with the flat iron after it was dry though.

   I ended up getting a second bottle just in case I didn’t have enough left over, and I did run out. Probably only used about 1-2 ounces from new bottle. This is the original formula, (I see that the company has another version shown in a blue bottle now) The type I have is in a white bottle.

   After the 72 hour wait is past, I will post again if outcome is different from my first treatment.
