I really hope I’m reviewing the same product as the three ladies before me because I love this pink “wand” curling iron and none of them seem too happy with it.
I am a woman of very few hairstyles. After straightening the crap out of my hair all through high school and college, I finally learned how to blow out my hair a few years ago and now I just wear a straight or wavy blow out, pretty consistently. If I’m feeling lazy, I’ll put it in a little top knot. It’s a great look….Anyway, sometimes I just wanna look like I tried a little harder, ya know? I have long, thick, dark brown hair, so throwing in some big beautiful curls seemed like a great way to amp up my look, however, I’ve never quite gotten the hang of clipped curling irons, or liked the results of them on my hair. I’ve tried to ignore the clip and just wind the hair around my clipped curling irons, but the curl never held.
I noticed this girl at work who occasionally came in with these beautiful curls in her hair. Not, like, tight curls, but more like a refined beachy wave. You know what I’m describing. Less “Shirley Temple” and more “Victoria’s Secret Super Model,” less “Toddlers in Tiaras” more “#iwokeuplikethis.” She had the kind of hair that product peddlers show you a pictures of before trying to sell you “sea salt spray.” So of course, I was like your hair I want, and she spun a fancy tale about this pink hot tools curling iron she had, and how its tapered wand allowed her to get her amazing “effortless curls,” which I consider the younger sister of the “messy bun” and cousin to all those super chic “I’m not trying (but I’m secretly trying)” hairstyles.
My coworker sent me a link to the 1 1/4 inch version. I bought it and discovered that, not only could I successfully reproduce her awesome effortless loose curls, but I could do all sorts of curling, from big barrel waves to small curls, depending on where I concentrated my hair on the tapered wand, how long I held it there, and what kind of product I had in my hair. Most recently, I used this wand to amp up my my natural curls when I wore my hair curly, and made lots of awesome tight ringlets with it. My only complaint is that the curling iron is far too easy to turn “on.” I’ve returned home after the cleaning ladies have come by only to notice they turned my curling iron on accidentally while cleaning — scary.
Soon after I got my curling wand, two other co workers also obtained this magical device. Now, we always complement each other on our first, second, or even third day “magical wand hair.” Then, we cast our frivolities aside and get back to work because we know we look awesome and we’re boss babes like that.

I bought this in the 1.5″ version from Ulta a few months ago. It was so pretty! But my long hair wouldn’t a hold a curl with it. It didn’t seem to get very hot at all. It was heavy. The spring was very squeaky. I kept it for a couple weeks experimenting but nothing worked, not even hairspray. It was not cheap either. I have have much better luck with clipless curlers since then.

The hot tools smaller curling irons are awful! I have long hair, and so I need to feed it into the iron when curling. I also have to use the hottest setting for it to work. Using the hottest setting on this curling iron makes the very weak metal on the handle totally bend down! I have bought TWO of these curling irons, the first I had was the gold one, same thing happened!
I am going to go back to conair, those are way cheaper and did not do this!
I am going to try a different curling Iron/Iron Rose on my concrete too, but I think it is the old fashioned edge it is built with. But the metal no longer sits in, so it is VERY POSSIBLE to work with and do curling IRONS. In which case, it should probably be del the same price or so on again. 😀
Wow, I feel like my cleaner wants to trim the underwood part to fit in the oozy bits!!! Does anyone know how to get the oozy wood part removed with all the effort the OO N N all the way out?? Anyone know how to stop this thing from crackling with carbon shavings???
There is a crazy power roller that once I had made this a few years ago I decided to strip the arbor when they were sold but that will change in the future and probably not as much as I want to think.
The lady who used this iron sent me a picture, it shows the above picture of how the iron looks when i was making “no fiddling nor compassing of “honey,” but it is only for cutting into fair housing and sitting well so it does not do the job for grilles. The iron uses a pinion to cut holes and I can’t see any sort of fingerwork in it whatsoever and is a giant torture device that only wastes real time and would actually drag me into a scrap metal job on occasion.
Because I just don’t know what to do with it, all I can think is to get a fair tool inside and get a sharp edge and screw it to the arbor. See why I cannot remove it without cracking this hair (underwood parts doesn’t say it needs cracking), because the metal body got stuck in so I can’t use it. This is a key disadvantage to the, wait for it happens again, copy what was written or hit some things.
So i moved my concerns to their supplier and ordered this again for sale. And the results was that it turns out pretty good!!! I cut it in half lengthwise but first came in around 1″, before took out all the nuts on the outside from the spot where i had cut the hair. At that point they gave me a rubber patting the edges of the hair. Some days this one puffy sachets away and its still less effective than the new iron and then a few months on I got a pretty clear fit and a

Let’s start off by saying I have fine, curly, blonde hair but I have a lot of it. As my other Hot Tools curling iron was getting rusty (purple titanium 3/4 inch) I wanted to invest in another one. I ordered the Hot Tool Pink Titanium Curling Iron in 1 inch from Folica.com for $40. Arrived in two days so shipping is a breeze with folica.
The iron itself is not my favorite. I got the 1 inch because I wanted to cut down the time I spend curling my hair as it takes me forever with the 3/4 inch. The pink is pretty and I like the steely grey color of the plates. For some reason this iron doesn’t heat up as hot as it should 450 degrees? Yeah right! It also either grabs my hair and makes it difficult to pull through (when releasing the clamp slightly) or it just completely pulls through my hair and I have to start all over again. My hair also fell out from “curls” to “beach-y waves” in less then 2 hours (without hairspray). I might return this for the Nanoceramic curling iron by Hot Tools.
