My new HG for ingrown hairs/razor bumps. After years of using Tend skin and hating the stinging sensation that follows it, I came across this. No cotton pads required, all you do is pour straight from the bottle onto your arms or legs etc after epilating or shaving and gently spread over the area you need to cover. The formula is a gel and gives you more than enough time to put the bottle down and apply before it can drip off your skin.
I have to be really honest and admit that it isn’t 100% effective, probably 95% on medium thick hairs growing back (such as myself) and every month or so I will get a very small bump somewhere on my upper arm that it worked on, but not completely. Still – this is a million times better than the horrid stinging feeling I got after the first 1-2 applications of Tend skin where I had to apply tons of fragrance-free moisturizer straight after using. With Priva Shave there is absolutely ZERO stinging or uncomfortable sensation, despite the amount of alcohol in here. Price-wise it is also better for me as one bottle (4 fl oz) lasts nearly 2 months. A similar size bottle of Tend Skin would last me half that time, I think partly because so much of it is absorbed by the cotton pads you pour Tend skin onto.
I’m already thinking of perhaps using Priva Shave for the first 2 days post-shave and then switch to Tend Skin to get that 100% efficacy on bumps, and so on for each hair removal cycle, however even if I don’t do that I’m still happy with the 95% that this delivers and more than happy just to stick to this alone from now on if need be.
One slight drawback is that for travel I find it tends to leak somewhat from the cap, not always but on occasions, so best transferring to a small and airtight container once opened and you intend to pack and take with you. The moment you unscrew the lid and peel off the safety seal it can have a mind of its own. Apart from that I reckon this deserves a place on my HG Top 10 for making shave days so much more pleasant then they used to be!
Tip: this also comes in a men’s version known as ‘Power Shave’ – exactly the same ingredients but often found cheaper online than the pink and white ladies version and does exactly the same thing.
