I used L’oreal Superior Preference 9 1/2 A Cooler Lightest Ash Blonde. I kept it in my hair for 45 minutes to make sure my light brown hair would not turn red. I was happy with the results. If I would have left it on only 25 minutes…then my hair would have turned a reddish color. This is so much better that paying $200.00 every couple of months to highlight my hair. In a month or 2 ,,,, all I have to do is my roots.. I will leave it on around 45 minutes. My hair is so silky soft and my skin was light enough to be able to look good as a blonde. I also have blue eyes. Very easy to use! I am so happy with this. Thanks L’Oreal !!!
Honestly, the dye did sting just a bit and the smell was a bit strong … I kept the windows open. I was able to read a book whilst the dye was in my hair. My skin reacted fine to this dye and I have very fair sensitive skin. I will honestly use this dye again in 8 weeks. As I was washing the color out of my hair… I noticed that it did not stain my hands or my sink ! Also, the conditioner that came with it made my hair silky soft. I did add a bit of argan oil to my hair after it dried. I give it a 10 out of 10.
Just a warning: If you have light brown hair… you need to leave this hair color in around 45 minutes or it will go reddish. Do not use if you have medium or dark brown hair…as you will wind up with red hair.

I have color-resistant gray, about 75% gray. I had been using Preference in 8G (Golden Blonde) and thought I’d try a less “golden” shade. Let me tell you, it was a huge mistake. The gray? It didn’t touch it. And the remainder turned up too light, almost white, while making my hair super dry. Left it on same amount of time as the 8G. I did some research afterward online and discovered that if you have color-resistant gray, lighter blonde shades may not cover the gray. And that you need to use a warmer, more golden blonder for better pigmentation and gray coverage. So, after waiting patiently for 2 weeks (I didn’t want to fry my hair even more by re-coloring it too soon, but couldn’t wait my usual 4 weeks), I did my color this morning with my usual 8G. It was like my hair just said, “Ah…thank you!” This color may be alright for someone wanting to lighten up a dingy or darker blonde, but you have a lot of gray? I wouldn’t recommend.

I switched to this since I haven’t been able to find my color – Clairol Nice n’ Easy Natural Pale Neutral Blond. This is pretty close to my natural color and came out very nicely. It’s not too ashy & not too golden or brassy. It’s just the right light blond shade for my light skin tone. It looks a bit sub-kissed when you’re done. This is my new go-to color!
