This brand depends a lot on which color you choose. I have dyed my hair a lot and tried many brands. I prefer Pravana Violet as my fave and I think it’s excellent. This is supposed to be similar so while I was away I grabbed some to try. I got the Purple, Silver and Wild Flamingo. The purple is similar to Pravana in that it’s pretty rich and vibrant and you don’t need a lot. I have a lot of thick hair and I don’t usually use a whole tube to cover all my hair. I feel like it might last slightly less long and as for staining, they both stain the same, or at least they both stain regardless. I don’t think they are the same formula at all, but rather that Sparks tried to copy. The ingredients are the same but I think Pravana might have more pigment in their purple.
The Silver and Flamingo are pastels so they don’t work unless your hair is super white and that goes for any brand of pastel, even Pravana. However I usually like to use them as diluters so my purple isn’t too similar or boring.
So what’s really the difference? Well this brand is easier to find in most beauty stores, and it’s often cheaper. I got it for $7 or $7.99 or something. Pravana I can get online only for about $14. Most stores that carry it are for licenced beauticians only but if you are one or have a friend who is one, you can get that for like $6 (Saloncentric), which is far more worth it. I also think if you are not, or can’t get the brands that require a licence for cheap, there are other brands of color that are probably better such as Raw or Special Effects and Hot Topic carries those as well as some Sally’s. I would say this brand overall is better than most of the non-licenced or “professional” brands, beating out Manic Panic, Splat, Punky Color and Ion which I think those aren’t so great. But it’s probably the same or less good than Raw or Special Effects which also aren’t “pro” and have larger color ranges. So I give this a middle range ‘ok’ rating, and I still prefer Pravana.

I’m a veteran hair dyer. This dye turned out great and was very cheap got it when I traveled to America for around $5 (it was on sale) at Hot Topic. I got electric blue, very intense rich colour. However a huge downfall for me was it stained like hell. Literally still trying to get the dye off my shower walls just from shower splash. I cannot buy this product again because I rent 🙁 however if this is not an issue for you definitely recommended. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it.
