   Beautiful color, as close as I wanted. I had to move from Colorsilk back to Nutrisse after many years, Colorsilk created the perfect color but it was making my hair extremely dry. I used #63 Light Golden Brown “Brown Sugar” since I like warm/golden tones and wanted a rich and slightly red color for fall, it helps my complexion look less sallow. I left it on for 30 minutes, in the bowl the mix looked like chocolate fondue but on my head it turned an alarming, almost flourescent pumpkin orange, like those “Ultra Colors” for dark brown hair, in the instructions it talks about the color changing, the “old” Nutrisse formula wasn’t like this. Nutrisse lifted less than the Colorsilk but the condition of my hair is much better, my hair has now a great medium warm chocolate brown color that is perfect for fall and for my fair NC15 color, it got rid of the copper highlights from washed out dye, two inches of dark roots but didn’t cover my gray hair. .
   EDIT: Hair dye got a little bit lighter and got more highlights, some grays were not covered but the majority did, don’t know why. My hair is super shiny with lots of body, feels like virgin hair. The color is exactly like the girl on the box of #53, it warms up my level 4 dark ash brown hair beautifully.
   EDIT: Got too many brassy highlights so I used #613 Light Nude Brown, the color in the bowl was chocolate brown, left it on for a little over 30 minutes, this time all my gray hair was covered, the color came out really beautiful and shiny, medium chocolate brown with lots of depth and dimension, looks professionally done, my roots were lifted about half a step into a warmer brown that can be noticed indoors and it got rid of all the brass I had.

   The color was alot darker than the box said it would. I have naturally dark brown hair which was showing at the roots of my dyed blonde hair. I applied it all over. It covered the top very well and covered my roots but there is still some blonde showing in the bulk of my hair. overall im very satisfied with it but the color on the box is very much lighter than the actual finished product.

   Zero Holding Power. The product I bought was actually “Nutrisse Nourishing Colour Cream 6.32 Natural Light Caramel Brown”, in ammonia-free Radiant Browns as sold in Canada.

   I decided to try this after Nutrisse discontinued Herbashine which I had been using every three weeks to cover significant grey and brighten my fading colour. My fine, naturally wavy, delicate and now thinning hair tended to dry out with the Herrbashine, but heavy doses of appropriate conditioners and judicious application of oil treatments made it barely manageable.

   The Radiant Browns seemed to be neither more nor less damaging, but after a single wash I noticed an immediate and significant decrease in colour. Now 10 days and three washings later. the colour seems virtually gone, with a half inch wide strip of near grey showing along my part, and a huge circle of grey where the hair grows in a whorl at the back of the crown.

   Always using only ammonia free colours, I once upon a time relied on Clairol’s Lasting Colour, then when that was discontinued L’Oreal Natural Match which was also discontinued and replaced with Healthy Look and gave my hair the unhealthy look and texture of a haystack, then on to Herbashine – discontinued of course… I’d love some recommendations for a non-ammonia hair colour in a warm (preferably reddish) light to medium brown.

   through all my trials and tribulations of hair disasters and hair successes, I have come to a conclusion which is based on economics.

   I have many friends who are in the business of beauty and many of them are hairdressers — nevertheless, each visit to my hairdresser for a cut never goes under $ 80 plus tip — and there have been times when I have paid a lot more.

   Mercifully I have not been too affected by the recession, but it has made me aware that a penny saved is a penny well earned — so I have taken to coloring my own hair at home. Now, this sounds easy and it is — the trick to this is choosing the right color and brand.

   My previous dye was Frederick Fekkai (I did write a review on this) which proved to be horrific. I am glad that some of you like the brand, but I did not. I compared it to Garnier, Revlon (Colorsilk) and Feria/L’oreal and quite frankly, the price differential makes Fekkai a waste of money. On top of that my haircolor came out dark blonde and as much as I tried to lighten it with Clarifiying shampoos, it did not budge. It did lose the “golden” which was very slight and I was left with a blah blonde.

   Not being a blah anything, I decided to go darker — and I do mean much darker and away from the reds and blondes. I realized I have never had BROWN hair.. ever. I always have had blonde, red or reddish, and then Black (in my 20’s) and the thought of brown was to me like letting my mousey grow out.. eww. But, with this latest fiasco and with my hair starting to suffer the effects of the dyes I decided to go middle ground and find a lovely golden brown which can be highlited later on — much later!

   I did some research on here and also on the net and I found that Garnier 63 — Brown sugar or Light golden brown was the most true of the browns — a true chestnut shade with some coppery tones… which are perfect for me. In order to deepen the shade a bit for the first time, I did 2/3 tube of #63 and 1/3 tube of Garnier 5.3 (Truffle a true chestnut)– which is the medium golden brown.

   I cannot say the color is perfect yet — I need to re-dye at least another two times, but I could not expect any more due to the prior dyes I had used… it is now a lovely golden but deeper shade of brown which I truly like. It is shiny and in good condition….I am not in love yet but I can’t wait to put on my MU and all my spring colors and see the true power of this shade.

   I am so far loving it and will keep it this shade for a while — when I get bored I will get some deep gold or bronzey highlites to pep it up some more. I just keep asking myself why I did not choose a brown shade before? Too much knowledge can be a dangerous thing.. but I am now officially a “brunette”.
