Used this to cover a super brassy, burgundy, purple, red disaster, it was supposed to be a warm dark brown and it came out a muddy multicolor mess. I called Garnier and they suggested to cover it with #40 but I didn’t want my hair to look black so I went with #50. The mix in the bowl was a dark grey-brown color, no purple or red, on my head and in the mixing bowl it turned a dark espresso brown with zero red. It covered the red and the orange glow mess and it turned my hair a dark espresso coffee brown I can still see some red and probably #40 would have worked better, maybe next coloring I will go up a number. Hair is soft and shiny, ends feel a little sad but it’s from recent multiple colorings. I left the color for 30 minutes, maybe will do 25 minutes next for root only application. I feel like I can go out again in public without having to wear a hat. I would call this color a dark ash brown, this is not a medium natural brown at all, my hair looks almost black, similar to my natural color (4A) I didn’t want to go this dark because it doesn’t flatter my complexion but I’ll take this over the burgundy red from the previous coloring, it is good shade for emergencies but not my favorite.
Edit: Washed my hair and the color is still going very strong, I can see some red trying to peek thru but my hair feels super soft and it’s super shiny, I wish it wasn’t almost black.
EDIT #2: Came back to this color since my hair now is really dark brown. The color came out beautiful, has lightened quite a bit but it has that beautiful true gold undertone that I love. The cons are that it is a little light for me and that only covers about 50% of my gray hair, the rest turns it into blonde highlights, will have to go one step up and use #40 to cover all the gray hair.
