Here’s the deal… This is an excellent color, especially for those who want to go blonde(r) that have a brown, black or red hue to their natural color. It completely washes out the orange and brassy tones which I loathe, so I love it! However, you must leave it in the exact time as directed in the instructions, and don’t leave it in too long if you don’t want a grayish tone to your already bleached or blonde hair. Keep in mind though, that the grayish tone eventually washes out and you’re left with orange tones as in all blonde hair colors. Loreal changed this formula to “Extra light ASH NATURAL blonde” about a year ago, and to me that was a mistake. I like the old formula better without the ‘natural’ tone added. Before the change, if I wanted the natural tone, the “Extra light Natural blonde” worked just fine, so why combine the two?! I used to color swap and alternate with the Extra light Ash one coloring, then six weeks later, use the Extra light Natural and that gave me some depth which looked great. But, now I’m stuck with an ‘all over same’ color look. Hope they eventually switch back. P.S. Don’t complain about it being ‘too gray’ if you don’t want a cooler more platinum look!

I have highlights that are similar to Taylor Swift’s natural color and I wanted them to be a bit brighter. Thank god I did a strand test because this turned my hair darker and it was steel grey due to the large quantities of blue in the dye. I would not recommend this unless you have ultra orange brassy hair that needs to be corrected.

I’ve been bleaching my hair at home for one thousand years. I took a risk and tried this brand, but am horrified at the result. My hair is completely blue. BLUE.
Hubs took a look and said “Oh, I can’t even lie about it and say it is just a little blue…”
Thanks, L’oreal, for making a trip to target with blue hair necessary. Will. Not. Ever. Buy. Again!

Better than using bleach to lift the yellow out of your hair. I also used it on my black roots which actually does a pretty good job of turning it a dark blonde. It’s a very ashy color, so don’t be afraid if it looks a bit silvery after you just dyed it. Few washes and it is the perfect ash white blonde for me. Ive bought it three times already. The ash color in it really saves you money as with other “Bleach blonde” box dyes you will need a toner, this one has abuilt in toner yay! So i’ve saved some money. Bleach, toner, and box dye all very expensive because of the yellow in your hair it causes you. No toner needed for this if you are already a light blonde but want to go lighter to take out the yellow and ARE NOT scared of a silver ashy color in your hair.
